Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Goliath513 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess that makes me a nobody - because I remember that ride as being fairly fun. But then again, I enjoyed Flashback at SFMM, so what does my opinion matter? As for GP saying they like Vekoma rides, people here in Colorado constantly say Elitch's Mind Eraser is the best ride ever. And that is known as one of the worst of the SLCs too. -
Vancouver's "Coaster"
Goliath513 replied to Wood Dragon 1988's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder if GCI's Millennium Flyer trains were based off these. They look very similar! If TPR ever does a Pacific Northwest trip, will this park be included? -
Turaco [NL]

Embed the video here and upload the pictures. Otherwise, how do I know it's even worth my time to click the links? -
Bumping old topics to beg for downloads of (in in some cases unfinished) parks.

[NL] Eagle
Goliath513 replied to Azanderz's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Definitely one of the better first time NL users' coasters I have seen. Bonus points for custom supporting on your first coaster (and succeeding ) instead of just randomly placing the pre-made ones. Looking forward to seeing more. -
They have dual flowriders at Denver's Water World. I've never done them before because I don't feel like waiting in line to embarrass myself when I could be riding better water rides in the park. The large crowd that is always watching is always discouraging for whenever I'm at the park and feel like trying it out.

I'm planning to head down to Wild Rivers when I'm down in southern California over Memorial Day Weekend. It looks like a great place. When I lived in northern California, my home waterpark just up the road from where I lived closed down after an accident in June 2004. Then the Oakwood Lake Resort and waterpark in the east bay area closed a few months later. I'm glad the owners of Wild Rivers have decided to keep the park open for two more years.

Funny Things That Go Unnoticed
Goliath513 replied to atem122's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here's a close up of it which I took last summer. They even spelled "earrings" wrong. Can't blame Cedar Fair for this one because I remember this from the Paramount days. -
TPR PENS! (Yes, pens!)
Goliath513 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You forgot "...last but not least" TPR the Dolls (Robb & Elissa) -
Denver's Waterworld has about 6 of these terrain rapids rides. One of them is a series of interconnected pools that you ride a standard innertube on. The other 5 you ride on a family size raft that has a bottom (holds 3-5 people all in the same spot). 3 of these are located as part of the River Country slide complex (which also has 4 fairly large standard fiberglass innertube slides), and are built into the hillside. One of them has a small underground portion. The other two are located on the other side of the park and are much larger. The most famous of these is the Voyage To the Center of the Earth, which is a very large, completely underground, family rafting ride. Imagine USH's Jurassic Park meets Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean in terms of theming - it's quite impressive. The ride has several long drops, and many flat sections where rafts tend to come to a stop for a while. It's always fun to see how long it can take for you to get down. The only downside of this ride is it is the most popular ride in the park and has extremely long lines (though operations on the ride have always been great). The other family rafting ride starts off just like the 3 terrain slides, but about halfway down you level out into a lazy river like area surrounded by Egyptian theming. You can't see this area from the path up the the top of the ride. From there, you go into a dark Pyramid, where inside you encounter more Disney quality theming (think Indiana Jones for this one), and after a while of floating around inside, you go down a long circular drop and exit the pyramid where you return to the outside portion that is just like the beginning. Many first time riders do not know the Egyptian section exists, despite it's name - Lost River of the Pharaohs. They also have a generic circular unthemed lazy river that goes around several bigger rides.

TPR PENS! (Yes, pens!)
Goliath513 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh TPR pens, you have served me well on my late nights at the library finishing up long lab write-ups for chemistry. I got my two TPR pens from a T-shirt order, and from the Bag of Crap given to us at the start of the East Coast Trip. -
Saw this ad in one of the dining halls on campus yesterday. Being a coaster enthusiast, something was clearly out of place here.

Some of my favorites: -Burgers at Disneyland's Tomorrowland Terrace -The Mexican restaurant near Frontierland at Disneyland -Anything at Knoebel's -Anything at Busch Gardens Europe -Knott's chicken dinner (always a must for any visit to the park!) -Cheese-filled breadsticks at Denver's Waterworld -Midway Market (also known as "the buffet near Raptor") at Cedar Point On a related note, does DelGrosso's sauce live up to its hype? -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Goliath513 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My point is proven. -
A few that I would consider: *Drachen Fire (Original 1992 version): Looked amazing, and I was pissed when I learned it was torn down. *Flashback: I rode this in 2001 and despite being *moderately* painful at parts, it was sure one neat little coaster. Great views of Hurricane Harbor, loud a$$ MCBRs, gave the thrill of a near death experience that most rides these days don't, and to make things better - it was the only ride in the park that was open yet. *Windjammer: Just so I can ride the yellow track since the red track was my first roller coaster. *Moonsault Scramble: Judging by its size and age, I can imagine it would bring new meaning to the term "Vekoma death machine." *Colossus (Original 1978 version): I hear this was absolutely insane that first year before the first set of modifications.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Goliath513 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Those are some of the few things said on the last few pages which truly belong in this thread. No mis-use of coaster terminology, no slightly inaccurate facts, just pure GP bullshit. To contribute to this topic, when the subject of theme parks come up, people here in Colorado are always quick to start saying how the Wild Chipmunk at Lakeside is unsafe because how many people have died on it (people decapitated by the low clearances, cars fallen off the track into the lake, etc). While there is no question about just how unsafe the ride is, the idea that people make it sound more deadly than the Final Destination coaster is just ridiculous. -
I read somewhere that all Six Flags parks will be getting major new attractions in 2011 for Six Flags' 50th year anniversary, so the idea of new coasters for 2010 and 2011 is not out of the question. I'd guess a smaller family size coaster in 2010 (given how the economy is currently crap), and something bigger in 2011 (hopefully the economy will be on the recovery from rock bottom by then ). I'm sure one of the major Six Flags parks will receive a dive machine that year (GADV is rumored to get one soon too).

Scream at SFMM is a mirror-image clone of Medusa. If Medusa is open, I would recommend riding it once. I enjoyed it much more than Scream. With the retheme this year, it should be even better! Now Matt already mentioned Batman and The Dark Knight, so I'll give the rest - Blackbeard's Train is a clone of SFDK's Cobra, and Roadrunner Railway is a clone of SFDK's Roadrunner Express.
-
^ Medusa was repainted after the 2007 season, so it looks new again. It is still a parking lot coaster, but the surroundings are not as bare. The ride has a very well landscaped queue area and a nice looking station. It is by no means your typical parking lot coaster because of this. Also, all of their coasters (with the exception of THBS, of course) have been repainted within the last year. The park is definitely above the quality of your typical Six Flags park!

I did this exact same cruise in July/August 2005. We were on the "Vision of the Seas" instead, which is identical to "Rhapsody of the Seas" which you went on. Despite being an older, smaller ship, I still had a great time. I can only imagine what it would be like on one of the newer ones! I did not get to do the zip-line excursion because they were all full. On one of our excursions, we had a tour guide who was from my hometown and graduated from my high school. Your glacier pictures remind me of when our ship went to Hubbard Glacier and I observed it from the comfort of one of the jacuzzis on the main pool deck! This was my all time favorite non-coaster related vacation to date! Here is a picture of the pool deck on Vision to show how similar the two ships are. Sorry for the blurryness.

Track Spottings!
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They already have Thunder Canyon, Millennium Force, and Skyhawk, so that leaves Flight Deck as the only possible option for this land clearing.
