PTR: Brent's TR's - 2009 TPR Scandinavia Tour
Goliath513 replied to downunder's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Another awesome trip report Brent. This park truly had more wasted potential than any other park I had been to (although Kings Dominion would prove to be even more of a waste). Superman was the most boring hyper I had experienced. Even more than Steel Forceless. Mind Eraser was hands down the worst SLC I have ever ridden. I never thought any SLC could be worse than SFDK's Kong. Roar was absolutely terrible and ranks in the bottom 5 on my woodies list. Those PTCs wrecked the track more than the fire that destroyed the haunted house next door. Too bad that fire couldn't have spread to put the crappy coaster out of its misery. Everything else was just far below my expectations. OMG It really depends on what coasters you are looking to ride. Hershey has Stormrunner, Fahrenheit, and the GCI woodies, but Dorney has Talon and the awesome water park. Both were run greatly for us! - Sam "that murky water in the closed down rotting waterslides would make a good place to hide the bodies of shooting victims" J -
They could have just called it Demon like CGA's coaster. That one had to be toned down too, but not because of the name. The theming was too intense. I don't think Cedar Fair would have had that problem with extreme Devilish theming this coaster. There are just so many better names they could have chosen.

RCT2--Six Flags Santa Fe

I'm not feeling the Six Flags atmosphere...to say the least. -
CF BASH-The Game

It seems like you're trying hard to keep up. I like the idea, but you don't need to turn it into a contest. If my park has inspired you, then I encourage you to make on on your own. And remember, my park was created more as a joke by exaggerating typical Cedar Fair parks rather then the soul purpose of bashing. -
[RCT2] Duffy's Lake
Goliath513 replied to zburns999's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Hey Zack, this park is coming along great! Your custom flats (although not operational to those who asked), are amazing - especially Red Virus. Thunder Canyon is pretty good too, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Talon style B&M invert and that woodie in the last screen. -
When did Youtube start removing videos that feature music?
Goliath513 replied to AlexG8462's topic in Random, Random, Random
That's why I go with European trance songs for my videos because so many of them sound alike, it's hard to trace them because many electronic music artists work under multiple aliases. Also, the German groups who produce these tracks aren't as sue-happy-greedy as American music producers. -
How many times the same ride in a day ?
Goliath513 replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Medusa west 13 times Boulder Dash 12 times El Toro 12 times Phoenix 12 times Superman (SFNE) 10 times That's all I can remember -
My friend R.C. and I made a Six Flags style park last year that he is still working on since I dropped out. http://rcprocommunity.com/showthread.php?t=794 This one is not for purposes of bashing because as said, the chain has shown considerable improvement. Chris, here is the RIDETESJ.DAT file to download that you said you're missing. RIDETESJ.DAT

Atmosphere better suited for the bedroom is not necessarily good for the family atmosphere at most parks.

OMG that is even worse than what Cedar Point did when I was there. Here are the ones that have already been mentioned that bug me: - People who complain when their kid is too short to ride. - People who do not fit into the seats and hold up the ride because they didn't try the test seat first. - People who demand to be let out after being locked in. - People who come through the line and say something like, "my friend is up there, let us by." Maybe your "friend" should come back and meet your group of ten behind us. - People who then proceed to make a scene in any of those situations. - Basketballs. For the love of God, please deflate the balls before handing them out to guests - especially the Vallejo locals at SFDK. - Hyped up on crack-cocaine teen girls who think it's okay to scream the entire ride at a frequency so high it does more damage to the head than a typical Vekoma. - One train operation on crowded days. Combined with 7 minute dispatch makes it even worse. - Unreasonably stupid (and I mean REALLY stupid) GP. - Having 8 photographers swarm me upon entry to the park. I'm not against the idea, I'm just against the way they follow through with it. It only takes one to take a picture. - Giant stuffed animals bigger than the guest being carried through a crowded Boomerang station (and when the guest tries to shove it into one of the lockers at the ride entrance). - People who take my seat when I go put my belongings in the bin off to the side. Happened to me at Cedar Point more than anywhere else. - Smokers in the non-smoking areas. I can understand your deadly addiction, but do yourself and everyone else a favor by waiting until you find the designated area. - Cedar Point and GADV's rain policy. - Vandalism of any kind. - Bad parenting (in ALL forms). - 1 person in a row on any 4 across coaster. - When groups of four bitch about my friend and I going ahead of them to fill in two of those empty seats. - Stapling. Especially bad at SFNE. I do not need a ride op who is as big as Robb to body slam my restraint on Batman down on me again. I need my lungs to NOT have a broken rib through them after the ride. - But mainly, people just being unreasonable in any circumstance. My own ones: - At Knott's when there's trash in Perilous Plunge's queue because there's no trash can there, yet the rest of the park has more trash cans per square foot than guests. - Ride ops trying to get dates with each other while the train is waiting to have the restraints checked and locked. SFA comes to mind. - The annoying childish sounding teen voice that repeats the "Hhhey therrreee THIS is the Maaaliboomer..." recording in Maliboomer's queue at DCA every 30 seconds (30 seconds from the beginning of the recording). - Mid course breaks that bring a ride to a near complete stop (KD ruined Flight of Fear and Avalanche with this). - The "hyphy" kids at SFDK.

The coaster was originally supposed to be called Aviator, but was changed to Flight Deck because people "it doesn't matter what we name the ride...people don't ride a coaster for what its name is." Who would have thought such an epic build-up would lead to a Flight Deck coaster? Flight Deck obviously proves this park is better than Disney. SCR14.BMP More destructive to a park's atmosphere than Tatsu, Pony Express, and Silver Bullet combined. SCR13.BMP Firehawk inspired station, queue, and colors! SCR12.BMP Built right over the center of the park. SCR11.BMP Cyclone will never be the same.

With Laser Snake Horse on Fire Revenge canceled, Diamondback safe from removal, demolition of the Peanuts Playhouse begun (sound familiar?) in the closed down Camp Snoopy, rumors of the new coaster all point towards the park getting a B&M flyer in 2011. The coaster will feature a dual loading station built where Peanuts Playhouse used to be. The lift hill will go directly over the Cedar Point Cyclone towards the park entrance. The ride will start with a wrap around drop down towards Cyclone, a twist underneath the lift hill, a massive pretzel loop in a dried up riverbed with a headfirst dive towards the path below, a turnaround in Diamondback's infield, and a turn into the brakes next to Blue Streak over queuing guests below! So we have a B&M flyer and an aviation themed restaurant as clues for what the name of the coaster will be.

^ Not having ridden CW's Flight Deck, I can't really compare them. Kong is definitely one of the worst of the SLCs I've ridden. Last year it was running worse than ever. It's not really worth the credit if you're not into that thing. They operate all of their coasters throughout most of the year, so you should get on everything. My suggestion is to head to Tony Hawk and Roar first, since THBS gets the biggest crowds and has the lowest capacity. If they get the second train back on Roar, that should be back to a decent capacity. Same for Kong. After riding THBS, Roar, and V2, head over and ride Medusa, Cobra, and Kong on the other end of the park. Medusa has a very high capacity which means reasonable lines tend to move pretty quickly. Boomerang is up the hill from Kong, and Roadrunner Express (kiddie coaster) is located near the back of the park.

US Airways A320 crash lands in Hudson
Goliath513 replied to TheHulk's topic in Random, Random, Random
There was also a plane crash about a month ago in Denver where everyone was lucky to have survived. I think there were some people from my college on that flight too. But this specific accident sounds almost exactly like that Air Florida flight that went down in the Potomac River in Washington DC in the early 1980's right around this time of year. However, most of those on the Air Florida crash weren't so lucky. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Florida_90 -
At that time of the year, you will probably be able to get in all the coasters at SFDK in a couple of hours at most. I'm not sure if V2 and Boomerang will be back up and running by then though.

^ Yes! Splash Landing (a mid size body speed slide) was relocated from Oakwood Lake as "Thunder Falls" for part of the mediocre generic kids play area built in 2005. The old golf course at the back of the park became Challenge Golf, the original race track was replaced with a bigger one called Triple Challenge Raceway, Ripcord (sky coaster) was built, and that section of the park became the Challenge Park in 1997. And now a look into the future: The park says it is pursuing the "we think we're better than Disney" idea for the new for 2011 coaster, as well as a redevelopment of the old Camp Snoopy area - which had been closed off and most rides vacated since 2009. No mention of the SBNO Blue Streak family coaster. Given the location in Camp Snoopy, this old coaster could easily be wiped out along with all the abandoned structures for a massive new coaster. SCR2.BMP Disney fans will probably recognize this restaurant - under a different name. SCR11.BMP Ripcord and Triple Challenge Raceway SCR10.BMP The landscaping in the golf course is watered using runoff from the Snake River Falls log flume next door. SCR1.BMP Trivia: What real Cedar Fair park is home to the other Thunder Falls slides moved from Oakwood Lake after it closed in 2004?

I'm already planning to go on the UK trip since I'm not doing a trip this year. As for the mid-America and smaller US trips, are you planning to include Colorado's parks in Denver?

Robb & Ryan Go To The Delorean Factory
Goliath513 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Are you telling me you built a TIME MACHINE, out of a Delorean!?!?" "...4:29 PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015." Get it right next time! It's sad that I know that from memory...just goes to show how much of a BTTF nerd I really am. I really want to get a Delorean someday, but it might not last too long in the harsh Colorado weather here. This was seriously better than 90% of all other photo trip reports on the site!
