*Sigh* Great America went into that downward spiral when they removed this great ride. Nice pictures! Reminds me of some of my dad's pictures at the park from 1977.

So for the first time in a while, I had some free time on a Saturday, so I decided to go down to Denver to meet up with my friend Matt (kenshinmac) at Elitch Gardens for Fright Fest. I hadn't been to the park since June 2005, so I had some catching up to do. On to the pictures! Twister II looks beautiful at night. That's all! So we didn't have to end the night on a negative note after riding Mind Eraser (this was worse than SFDK's Kong and almost as bad as SFA's Mind Eraser from the ECT), we headed back to ride something without a line. Anything would be better than ending with Crap. Yes, Mind Eraser = Crap with a capital "C" More night-time camera epic failure trying to capture the patented Vekoma-gap. Elissa friendly Halloween costumes! We saw this map of 36 rooms on the door to Brutal Planet. Matt has a high-res photo of this from the daytime and no glare from the flash. I should not have bought the cheap camera that fails at night pictures even on the night setting. Despite it not being a very photogenic park during the day, it sure looks great at sunset! I heard they finally opened this thing up this season for the first time in nearly 10 years. We ended up skipping Screams to do Brutal Planet (the other haunted maze) because of the 3 hour wait for this. The most people Elitch's water park has ever seen! Kinda looks like someone out of Saw V which I saw last night. The only one of the Volare models with the conveyer-belt station. Why haven't they begun taking down this yet!?? Downtown Denver is conveniently located just outside the park. Twister II and Invesco Field! He looked older than just one year old. Maybe 70 times that. Those poor souls... Brown Streak: The Ride! What is that at the bottom of the splash? To our surprise, they were actually still running Shipwreck Falls this late in the season in the cold weather. Bush shot Shake, Rattle, and Roll's queue offers some nice angles for Twister shots! Thunder Bolt is lacking a-TENT-ion. These are Flying Coaster's cars, all dismantled in the graveyard behind Twister, in preparation for their move to another park. After riding Twister at Knoebel's earlier this year, I have been spoiled to the point where I can no longer appreciate this ride for how good it is compared to other coasters in the park. Shiny and good looking, but will leave you in pain and full of regret. Hmm, kinda sounds like the last girl I dated... Cedar Fair takeover of Elitch's! Sidewinder offered the only airtime in the park. Elitch's needs something with good airtime to replace Flying Coaster. We then went over to pay tribute Flying Coaster, which has been permanently shut down because it is a hunk-of-a-junk effing ride. You can probably guess who Alfred Packer is even if you couldn't read the sign in the picture above. Alfred Packer's Cowboy Cannibal BBQ - Wow! Mind Eraser got a new paint job last year. Too bad it doesn't ride as good as it looks. Wait, I didn't know there were trees by Flying Coaster? So this is why they had to replace the old Chaos with a new model. Do I trust the new one now? They converted the water park's changing room into a haunted house for Fright Fest! Time to "pull a Hanno" Last time I was here, it was Six Flags.

Hopefully they will demolish one or two of those old buildings, run a bridge across the canal leading to the coaster entrance, and put props in the canal themed to the movie like Ryan pointed out. That way, the coaster will be more accessible from the midway, and they can clean up that back area of the park. That way, those who remember Psyclone will not associate this with it if they enter from a completely different area. Maybe convert one of the buildings into a Terminator gift shop too.

Looks like they won't be getting that dive machine next year afterall. GADV's was in need of a makeover. The ride was getting a bit rough, and it needed painting. If Discovery Kingdom's Medusa is in bad shape, then it might be possible. SFDK's Medusa is in great shape and is the LAST "older" ride I would think of in need of a make over. It's still running as smooth and fast as ever! One of the few B&M's I've ridden with an ideal balance between smoothness, forcefulness, and thrill. Besides, SFDK's Medusa just got a new paint job this for this year, so I don't see any change coming to it anytime soon.

Yeah, big deal, huh? (nooooot) SFDK's Roar is almost 10 years old and that is one of the smoothest woodie's I have ridden. Easily in my top 10 for woodies. If SFMM takes care of Terminator as good as SFDK has with Roar, it will not go downhill. I don't understand all the complaining. Sure, the name isn't ideal, but no matter what other name it could have been, there would still be much complaining about it. Even though this isn't a 500ft record-breaker inverted woodie launched dive machine with 10 inversions, it will still be great for the park. I am looking forward to riding it next year!

Nice try on the Photoshop work (I see the contrast lines). Better luck next time. The last few updates were pretty fun reading to relive everything. It's really too bad Kings Dominion was so bad. It really had a lot of potential ruined by Cedar Fair. The Morey's Piers trip report was also nice. I hope to get back there sometime in the next few years.

I've been able to handle everything except for Panda Express right before riding X, Ninja, Deja, Vu, and Goliath twice before my stomach finally got the better of me.

So much to say, but this says it all!

Great videos Shane! Loch Ness Monster is a very underrated coaster. The terrain and landscaping definitely added to the ride experience, and I regret not riding it more than once when I was there. It was better than most other Arrow loopers I've ridden such as KD's Anaconda and much better than CGA's Demon. In the video, it looks like it's running faster than it did when I rode it on the east coast trip. Still, it was a great ride, and that final drop was amazing!

Now I know this is supposed to be for an existing attraction, but as far as I know, RWB has not been demolished yet. This is my second entry, but if this doesn't work since it's not currently operating, I will go with my previous entry (Mantis in Atlantis). "Boobs on (Raging Wolf) Bobs" Boob credit!

This is my first. I might make a different one, or expand on this later. For now.. "Mantis in Atlantis" - the world's first underwater coaster! We all knew Cedar Point was sinking, but nobody expected it to be this bad.

I have survived Mean Streak in the back wheel seat, Hurler, Grizzly, and SFA's Roar. It can't be THAT bad. Imagine a GCI remake of CBC with Millennium Flyers!

Well if you do decide to ask her out and you end up in a relationship, let her know that you want a balance in your life with you other friends too. If she (or you) gets too clingy and controlling, you might want to look for someone else who you will not lose your friends because of.

Tyler, just try to enjoy college and date around without worrying about finding the perfect girl. I worry about a heartbreak too, but that's just how it goes. It's okay to go out with girls just to get a feel for who you truly want to be with. It's not like you're making a lifetime commitment to her just by going out with a girl. If you don't feel a connection, the I can understand why you would be hesitant about dating, but if you're holding off just because you're not sure it will end in marriage - that's too extreme. Afterall, its better to have loved than never to have loved at all (well at the dating stage it isn't really love, but you know what I'm talking about )

I love those shots of the looks of terror / pain of us on Super Flight. Nice shot of my back standing in about to be locked in the cage of death. Playland is one of those parks that will always be remembered on this trip for all the wrong reasons.

In-N-Out - The only thing I miss about not living in California anymore. Good trip report and photos.
