PKI Jizz Man's Diamondback Photo Thread!
Reon replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As another resident KI freak and ride op from Cincinnati, I really need to respond more to this thread. Also since it's Jizz man's. Anyways, I got about 5 rides in on opening day, but thanks to college I havent been able to make it down since. Definately a top 5 coaster, and I'd say my #2 steel behind Maverick. Then again, I'm an airtime freak, and lets just say LSHoF delivers. EVERYWHERE! Its definatly a night ride, since there is no light anywhere on the ride aside from the lift hill. Your basically floating, flying, and free falling through complete utter darkness! I can't wait to go back to KI. I'm thinking next sunday after I get off work at Coney. And ofcourse theres Ride Warriors the weekend after. -

Oh yeah, the mini souvenier stand! Anyways, I've got my photos ready. Should I put them in the LSHoF thread, or make my own topic for the review and pics? -

Yay for being a reference. (trim hill before the mcbr is the best part of the ride) Anywhos, where'd you find this sign? http://img6.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc2310v.jpg I completely missed it while I was scouting the park yesterdays. -

^^Thanks to Diamondback being so awesome/addicting, and Crypt being closed the first few times I passed it, I only got in one ride. It felt really forceful on the double flip, but overall the sequence is the same as last year (aka awesome mode) As for theming, not new yet, but the ominous wind in the ride chamber has turned into spooky music during the ride, which was pretty cool. ^Interesting, since a few food vendors in Diamondback's "line" went through Nick U. Or are we talking about the actual shops? -

You people with you wireless internet phones and not passing out as soon as you got back home from KI....Anyways, my review I got there at about noon, so the longest line I had to worry about was to the floral clock behind the Eifel Tower. Even from there it was hardly over an hour wait, thanks to the single rider line. By the way, the single rider line forms after the initial switches in the queu, right in front of the Diamondback sign. Just talk to an attendant and wait for your pass, and your good to go! Even the time I actually went through the full line, the actual queu of the ride took a little under an hour completely full. The lesson to all this is that single riders are awesome, and that you shouldn't be intimidated by the line. It goes very fast and is alot shorter than it usually looks. Anyways, onto the ride. In a word, its epic. The trains look great, and are very comfortable and free. The lift hill's pretty fast, and the ride itself is filled with airtime, no matter where you sit and how stapled you get. I didn't get to test all the seats since attendants were assigning rows, but from my 5 rides, I'd say 10th and 2nd rows are the best so far. I'd say my favorite part, aside from the first drop, is the section between the hammerhead and the mcbr. The hill, while trimmed, gives the best pop of air in the ride, and its right inbetween two nice twisted bits. As for the splashdown, you dont get wet, but you may get a bit of mist which feels pretty good on a hot day. Its also awesome to watch, and looks like the train's jumping out of the water into the brakes. Between my happyness they picked my rumor name for the ride, the airtime, the overall layout, and wait times, I'd give it a 9/10. Maybe not the best coaster in the world, but its pretty fun and actually kept me away from Vortex, which if anyone knows me is a pretty hard task in itself. Overall a great investment for KI, and it should prove to be one of the best coasters in the park... Edit: Completely forgot my nightride. Quite frankly, it's better than Beast's. Aside from the lift hill, there are no lights on this thing, period. Once you get out of the midway section, you're baisically freefalling into pure darkness. Its a great sensation going over those hills and not knowing how far down you go since you can't see the track at all. Both scary and amazing, I would DEFINATELY favor this night ride over the Beast. Also, I got lucky and managed to duel the train on that run, so that was pretty fun too I guess. Anyways, Diamondback is one of the best night rides I've ever been on, so definately do it if you have the chance. -

Well, you buy one from me or Jared (Which isn't happening)....or you make one yourself I could always make more. It just requires time, money and effort. Unfortunately I'm a college student thought, so thats not happening anytime soon 7 Hours till the bus leaves! KI, I'll be there soon... -

I see airtime I really can't wait to try this thing out now. Simply amazing! My bus is leaving at 8, so I should be at KI 11ish, and if processing takes as long as last year, I should be in the park at noon wearing my LSHoF shirt, since its the closest thing to a TPR shirt I have.. -
^Last year, they normally closed the line for Beast about 15 minutes before the park closed. A dark ride on Beast is DEFINATELY a must for any KI visit. As far as your question, I'd say one day is enough, as long as its a full day's visit. Diamondback should have most of the lines since it's the new ride, but I'd suspect that Crypt and Beast will get some buisness since they are also good rides in the same area. Hopefully Diamondback will take lines away from Firehawk this year. If not, HIT FIREHAWK FIRST! Over the last 2 years, it had the longest line in the park.

Really its just the break shed that kills Beast for me. Off I go, rushing through the forest, then all the sudden it just lurches to a crawl in the shed. COMPLETELY kills the flow of the ride. So yeah, Deathbat/Crypt is better than TR:TR and will be themed eventually, and Beast got killed by trims. In a completely unrelated story, Vortex is still one of the best rides in the park, atleast until LSHoF proves to give better airtime than Vortex's first drop. -

I'd say an inverted pretzel loop is just a loop, but if you want to make it a pretzel, you'll have to remake the entry/exit as some sort of curved drops or something. Either way, great job so far. For the most part, your coasters look pretty nice, and I'd love to see some more terraining and non-coaster rides integrated into the park. -

Crypt was pretty good last year, for me anyways. Hopefully it'll be open, but who knows? -

I'll be down in the park all Saturday, minus a bit of time in the morning to get my pass processed. I'm debating on wearing my actual Diamondback shirt from the announcement, ooooooooor Laser Snake Horse on Fire. Either way, can't wait to get back to KI! Vortex, Crypt, Firehawk, Drop Zone, and now Diamondback. -
Thanks again for any Cali advice, but now I have some questions for the opposite side of the USA. After KI's opening I'll have a car for the remainder of the school year and beyond. With the year winding down, and almost no real work/exams left to worry about, I was thinking of making a weekend trip on some upcoming week. My questions are these: 1) Coming from Huntington, WV, would Knoebels (one of my favorite parks atm and a 7 hour drive), or a Kings Dominion/BGE combo (2 parks I haven't been to that are about 6 hours away) be a better trip? 2) In either case, cheap hotels. Thanks to my Plat pass and Knoebels being cheap, I dont have to worry about admission for the most part, but I'm still a college student so I'm not THAT big on cash right now...

Simply incredible! The ride itself looks very Maverick-ish, which I like since Mav is one of my favorite steels right now. As for the restraints, all I can say is WOW! I really hope we get some of these in the USA... -
Thanks for everyone's suggestions so far. I figure no Disney since its probabbly going to be expensive. I'll be spending enough as it is on hotels, food, miniparks, and stuff like that. The only reason I'm planning to hit so many corperate parks is that I'm renewing my SF pass, and I get a Platinum every year (I live half an hour from KI and go to CP once or twice a year...)

This May, I'm planning to hit California armed with a Platinum and a SF season pass. Seeing as I live in Ohio, I'm more than likely going to fly in/out and get a rental. As far as parks, this is what I have so far: California's Great America Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park Six Flags Magic Mountain Knotts Berry Farm Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Now heres where you come in, TPR members that want to help me. I need to figure out the most efficient route, and could use suggestions on where to stay and stuff like that.

Well, this is coming from a park that origionally put an on ride photo right before the lift on Son of Beast.... On a slightly different topic, does anybody know when season pass processing will start this year? I'll be in Cincy next week for spring break, and I was hoping to stop by KI some time... -

^And where does Phoenix figure into this? I'm imagining this will be like Nitro, but with much more air. If DB really has as much air as it advertises, I'd expect somewhere around Phoenix or Voyage airtime...and for that, I certainly wouldn't be displeased. -
Happy birthday, Elissa!

Coney Island Cincinnati
Reon replied to Wood Dragon 1988's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After working at Coney for 3 years (and loving it), I can say that it's a great park for the $12 value (and I'm not just saying that to bait you there). Our Pinfari POS has some great airtime in the 3rd row (far back as you can sit since we don't let anyone in the last one). We also have a bunch of cool flats like a variety of spinning rides, a small but fun Moser Drop ride, and the a viking ship that we got last year from Wild West World. Not to mention we have awesome bumper cars. So yeah, come to Coney. For a little unpopular park, its pretty cool.
