  1. Its about time you posted your PTR, Zach. I've been waiting ever since you left to see what was going on, but I never saw any updates from the trip at all! I guess there was no wireless in Texas or something.... Anyways, Shockwave looks epic! The only real Schwart's I've been on are Whizzer and SDL, so I haven't expierienced any of his GOOD stuff yet. Can't wait for your SFFT update. Still wondering what you thought about Rattler. -Reon
  2. It was about time you started to upload the memorial day trip...Once again, I had an awesome time meeting up with the Big Man and co, but its too bad I got there so late and couldn't tag along to Beech Bend do to a few economical and parental issues... Cant wait til you post the KI/CI trip!
  3. Ah, Tempest. Fun to ride, but its the only ride I outright refuse to work at Coney nowadays! Also, that kettlecorn was epic! I was stationed at the ticket table right next to the vendor the whole night and the smell just kept taunting me. Luckily we were able to get some free samples...
  4. Nice report! Good to hear someone actually reporting Coney Island for once, though you came on our busiest day of the year. Did you get everything you needed to in? On a normal day, you can probably hit everything in about an hour, but on the 3rd lines are insane. I don't know how they were this year, since I was stuck manning one of the ticket tables, and not on one of the rides....
  5. What I was saying was between the second helix and the last turnaround, there is a parabollic hill. But you did bring up another point: there is an elongated low to the ground double up where the loop used to be. Top Deck looks pretty good so far though. Great job with that
  6. Dont forget theres a hill in between the 2nd helix and the last turn around...
  7. Ted and I are going down to Paige's Crossing and Indiana Beach tommarow...
  8. Can we nominate ourselves? I always make it a point to have as much fun with my job and the customers as I can while remaining safe and serious. Some examples were from today when I got to work the Pepsi Python (our Galaxi-ish credit). I would speil about it being the biggest, fastest, and only steel (and wood) coaster at Coney Island. I also did all kinds of stuff like making people try to reach for the dispatch button as I walked back to the other one (there are 2 in the station), insisting that KI got the idea for Diamondback from the ride, and eventually rallying guests to officially change the ride's name to "Space Walrus." And thats just to name a few small things I did. Aside from myself, I think the best ride op I've seen was the Wicked Twister op who kept doing things like countdown launches (Launch in 3...2*launch*.....1*train goes flying back through station*) and all sorts of other stuff.
  9. The only problem with the add photo tool I have is my camera takes pictures with larger dimensions than the tool allows. My photo edditing software doesn't let me resize either. Otherwise I would have posted my Stricker's PTR already, plus about 10,000 Diamondback shots...
  10. Did you come on the third? Usually the park is barren, and on any given weekday you could have your run of the place. The 3rd of July is usually our busiest day of the year since we have the balloon glow and fireworks. Not too mention we kept dropping the price throughout the day. By 8pm, we ended up selling for $6...
  11. Has it been clarified how much it will cost to ride? (At Columbus) Is general admission still free + $6 for a ride wristband? I see that Coney is still a very reasonable $11.95 for a wristband. Any idea where discount coupons are and how much? There are litteraly hundreds of coupons for Coney. I can't really name all of them, but check the local magazines and restaraunts around Cincinnati when you come. In my last few weeks of working the ticket booth, I've seen alot of buy one get one free's and discounts from local buisnesses. I'll do some snooping next time I'm in the booth and see what I can find. -Jared (PS: I get one free ticket for every 150 hours I work. I'm getting close to my first ticket so I could help out a fellow TPR member in about a week or two...)
  12. Looking good so far. Great to see you got back to work on my home park recreation! One small suggestion that might save you 2 spaces (I know KI is friggen HUGE) is that Flight Gun/Top Deck doesnt have a dip down before the lift. It just goes straight up, and that can potentially save you a few squares after you re-terraform.
  13. *registers for a season pass* Iron looks interesting. So basically it just pulls you back the vertical spike then goes through the circuit forwards? Pretty cool, but it might be better to make it go both ways and have the second spike be another lift in true shuttle fashion.
  14. Having been to both parks once...... Knoebels. Kennywood is fun and all, but to be honest Knoebels is hands down the best theme park experience I have ever had. Extremely cheap, EPIC coasters (see Phoenix, and proceed to marathon until park closes), great classic rides, flyers, an awesome haunted house, Fascination, and thats just the tip of the iceberg. Kennywood may have a few cool rides and stuff, but Knoebels cannot be beat.
  15. I love the turnaround on Blue Thunder, but you need to work on blocking. Having 2 trains that close=BAD.
  16. No matter how your park turns out, I'm arleady giving it 5 stars for the Phoenix clone The rest of the place does look pretty awesome so far...keep it up! (But mostly the epicness of Phoenix)
  17. Very interesting. The thicker track (double spined) doesnt seem that Intamin-looking. Maybe its the new 300+ foot track or something?
  18. Upsurge looks so much fun! I'd love to get one of those up at Kings Island, and I'm not even a waterpark enthusiast....Anyways, the improvements look great. As someone who works at a small, outclassed park, I appreciate all of the not-so-well known parks
  19. Finally decided to join this thread. I've been collecting brochures for years from every park I go to, but its really not that big a collection yet. Anyways... Old brochures and such: Holiday World 2008 Park Map & Show Guide Dorney Park 2008 Fun Guide Monsoon Lagoon Water Park and Family Fun Center 2007 brochure Lochness Monster Post Card Six Flags over Georgia 2008 Brochure Cedar Point 2008 Brochure Cedar Point 2003 Guide & Map to Fun Kings Island 2007 Brochure Carowinds 2007 Brochure Six Flags Great America 2007 Park Map & Guide Dollywood 2008 Brochure Hershey Park 2005 Welcome Guide & Map Islands of Adventure (unknown year) Adventure Guide (worn out but still in one piece) Holiday World 2008 Park Map & Guide Six Flags America 2007 Park Map & Guide Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom 2004 Park Map & Guide Paramount's Kings Island 2006 Park Map & Guide Cedar Point 2007 Brochure Mt. Olympus 2006 Park Map & Guide Big Chief Karts & Coasters (Year they got the kiddie rides) Park Map & Guide (drew in estimated Hades layout, and added it and Dive to Atlantis to attraction list) Kennywood 2008 Park Map & Guide Noah's Ark 2006 Park Map & Guide Six Flags over Georgia 2007 Brochure Busch Gardens Europe/ Water Country USA 2007 Park Map & Guide Apollo's Chariot Postcard Alpengeist Postcard This years' Brochures I can easily get (aka parks I normally visit): Kings Island Coney Island Ohio (can also get 2008 brochures, since I found a pile of them in the ticket booth) Cedar Point Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Holiday World Indiana Beach As for what I want, its pretty much whatever I can get, but I'd LOVE to get things from Knoebels, since it's my favorite park.
  20. Once more I'm working rides at Coney Island....all of them. This is my 4th season now, and I basically work all the rides and attractions now, including the ticket booth. I'm pretty much an unofficial rides manager at this point, since all the managers always come to me when they need help...
  21. I actually want to get down to this place now. Despite its bad reputation, it looks like theres a good variety of rides and attractions, plus the theming and landscaping is pretty good....
  22. Unfortunately, Coney is wristband only...we don't do tickets anymore HOWEVER, it can get pretty cheap. If you go after 4, the price drops to $9, and theres tons of coupons all over the place. You just need to look around a bit to find some of them...
  23. You dissapoint me. I was gonna get it tommarow at work To be fair though, its insanely easy to find the mirrors...
  24. Well, its safe to say the KI ticket isn't remotely NEAR where I origionally overheard it to be. Anyways, I'll be down there tomorrow to check if it really is MIA or not, and I should have the Coney one on Sunday if its still there...
