Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^Yeah, I took a few of shots of the new trains for my Photo TR. I'm back at my comp, so I'll probabbly upload the pics and make the thread when I'm more awake today. ^^Like I said, the helix was slowed to a point where it borderlined on getting close to stopping at the top . -
That...is actually pretty cool. I'd love to see some of those style pics for other coasters...

Photo TR: Kings Island Opening Day 2010
Reon replied to CoasterGeek101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^by which you mean "awesome", correct? Anyways, great to hear I wasn't the only one up at KI yesterday. I actually didn't see any other TPR members up there, or atleast anyone else sporting the gear (I was in my magical TPR hoodie). Did you end up trying anything in Camp Snoopy? I found Boo Blasters to actually be pretty good, and it seemed like a full building queue was about 15 minutes (even though it said 45 on the sign...) -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, out of the 3 coasters at Holiday World, Voyage is the one that needs multi-train op. Last time I went, Raven was running with one train and it wasn't too bad. Legend is a little longer, but still no big deal if it goes into single train mode. Voyage on the other hand... Still, cant wait to head up for my 3rd trip this year to ride Wildbeest and hopefully the Timberliners. Do you think they'll be ready in time for Holiwood Nights? -

Beast seemed pretty good from my one lap on it. Of course I didn't wait for a night ride since it was getting windy at 40* (something I put up with last year at the CP Haunt, but wasnt willing to for my first trip of the season), but I did manage to wait about an hour to get my Non-Axel back car ride. Its hard for me to say if its smoother or not after not riding it for so long, but there are 2 things I can say about it: 1. For some reason, I got floater down the entire first drop. Kind of like Vortex 7-1... 2. The 2nd tunnel (the one after the break shed) was lit up for some reason. I REALLY hope this was just for rehearsal mode (maybe same thing with Backlot?) since thats always the one thats pitch black even during the day... -

Some notes on my visit today. I'll eventually put at Photo TR up when I get back to my computer and upload the pics. Note: I did not get the chance to check out everything New for 2010: ZORBS! The old Eurobungy spot is now home to those wacky water wheel thingies. Action Theater: Movie hasnt been changed yet. It was still Spongebob 3D Diamondback: Rode 3 times (front/middle/back once each) The front seems to have lost its luster, but the middle and back are still filled with beautiful floater over EVERYTHING! Planet Snoopy: Looks very nice. I especially dig the Woodstock Express color scheme... Race for your Life: OMG violent. All of the themeing (-the final turn/entrance area, which looks nice) is gone, but the ride is pretty rough right now. The final drop now delivers an acceptable amount of wetness, and the turn right after the runout apparently leaves a very forceful jolt now. It closed down a few hours after I got my ride in, possibly due to the violent last turn.... Boo Blasters: A bit generic/cheesy, and you can tell where the Scooby/Phantom THeater stuff was, but WOW! Its actually a pretty fun ride with some new tech like hologram mist and such now put in. I wont ruin everything, but its definately worth checking out. Walked away with a score of 2490 on my second ride. Face//Off: Valleyed while I was getting my pass processed about half an hour after the park opened. Didnt see it run all day.... SOB: Its like they arent even trying. All signage is gone, and no trace of the cars can be found... Backlot: Tunnel lights are now on, and the launch seems a lot smaller. I watched a bunch of trains seemingly crawl out of the helix. I say rollbacks might happen this season... -
Quick question about the bonus park without trying to guess what it is: If one is using the magic of airplanes to come to California, where should they fly to? I'm going to talk to my parents tomarow after I get back from KI about trying to get on the Party Bus. I'm a little bit concerned though, since my mom was hesitating a little on getting me my Platinum Pass again instead of downgrading me to Gold. Stupid economy

I dont see why they didnt go back to Phantom Theater if they took out the Scooby liscence, but I guess BBoBH looks decent for a quick fix. A lot of slightly moddified props, but its okay I guess. -
Timing fail. I'm really thinking about Bay Area Bash right now, and living in Cincinnati, I'd hate to waste a week just waiting for the AAA event. Then again, my work doesnt start in Coney until the last weekend of May. Still, I'd much rather just get a SF season pass this year and stay a few extra days to hit other California parks...

Photo TR: KICentral Coaster Trip 2010

Yup, Bandwith fail on Photobucket. Anyways, great Diamondback/Intimadator comparison review. I'm hoping that you were being biased on having not ridden LSHoF in a while and hitting Intimidator first. Either way, we'll just have to find out this weekend -

^^^Yeah, thats what I meant. I was writing that post when I was just getting up so my brain wasnt fully working. I'll wait for your Dollywood post, since I was only there for about 2 hours due to bad planning but the coasters were still a hit (especially Mystery Mine and Tennesse Tornado) Anyways, awesome report is awesome so far. How well lit would you say that I305 was at night? I remember one of the things that makes Diamondback my favorite night ride is the fact that theres no lighting at all. I can't even begin to imagine how insane all those twists and hills would be pitch-black. -

^So technically, I can still hijack it? A few things so far: Another Jared? Awesome, but now I felt left out of the trip (stupid college and not having break the same week of everyone else) How went the platinum pass processing? I still need to get mine renewed for the year, and I dont know if anythings been changed since last year or something... I think I've been subliminally following this trip on Facebook, thanks to Rachel and Angie posting about the Intimidators... Cant wait to see your actual photo TR! I305 is definately something on my hit list, Dollywood was epic for the 2 hours I was there, and Carowinds was okay when I went a few years ago. I'm sure its much better now that both sides of Rolling Thunder are up and they have Intimidator.... -Reon, the Jared from Cincy that DIDNT go on the trip. -
I really want to go to this park if I ever go to the UK. It proves that you dont have to be a huge corperate park to have awesome stuff, and I want to try out a Mighty Mini Mega...(plus Rage ofcourse)

@BLSC: Lame! Glad to see LSHoF testing again! Can't wait for the season to start up, especially with the beautiful weather thats been in Ohio for the last week... Does anyone know if they've settled the Platinum Pass situation yet? I remember there was some dispute on here about them changing the renewal situation a while ago or something? Either way I still need to renew mine. -

In a weird way, the red track actually makes TG look pretty good. It certainly stands out on the wood/metal hybrid structure...Cant wait to see how this continues to develop! -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I305 is INSANE!!! At first I thought the speed and transitions of the S-Turn twisties was just overdone for the animation......nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope. I can actually understand blackouts on this ride if its really THAT forceful, and I'm loving it. As for the Millie vs I305 debate, I wouldnt call myself a Millie fanboy. Yes I've gone to CP quite a few times and its a fun coaster, but far from Maverick. Its more of a pure speed run that just sort of coasts around the park with a hill or turn here and there. I305 is like a mess of forceful twists and (hopefully) airtime-filled hills. Definately looks like a winner, can't wait to ride it! I think I may be making a trip up there mid-July, but nothings been confirmed yet. -
Depends on the route, but it should take 3-4 hours. I almost just want to say take 75, or 71 between them, but theres still that unavoidable little country road section that you'll get somewhere in the trip. If you're looking for an easy, but maybe longer route, I would suggest (starting at CP so vice versa for the other way around) Route 6 East to 75 South, then Cross over on 275 East and get off the 71 North exit. Its a bit long, but it will take you on a direct route in between the 2 parks.

^So whats the concept? Multiple verticle drops after the main hill or something? ^^More work on the Soul Eater park means happy Reon. I havent been commenting that much since theres not much for me to comment on yet aside from "yay rollercoasters themed to characters from that one anime I like!!!11!!one!" I do like how you did the Vector Arrows, and the wooden coaster guide on the Chrona ride look nice. I cant wait to see how you do the Death the Kid area... -
Batman The Brave and the Bold for your NDS!

I already commented on this on Facebook, but... Awesome to hear your responcible for the DS version, especially since I dont have a Wii. Looks pretty cool how the 2 versions interact with each other. I'll have to pick up a copy for my DS once it comes out.... -
TPR's 2011 Trips Questionnaire!
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Brief thoughts: Japan: Awesome, though expensive. I've always wanted to go to Japan for multiple reasons, and epic TPR trips is among them Australia: With all that Jizz Man has told me, I'm pretty hyped about this fine continent. Unfortunately it interfears with school, but if I save up a bunch of money and do the other thing I wanted to aswell (the Trinidadian steel drum event Panorama in late Jan/Early Feb), then dropping for a semester wont be TOO bad... Spain: A cheaper international trip for me. Kind of cool, but nothing too spectacular leaps out at me. US trips: CP trip=YES. As a member of Ohio, that means I can atleast tag along for KI/CP if worse comes to worse. As for the Northeast trip, Knoebels is pretty much my favorite park that I've ever been to, and I need to get back to Hershey. That alone keeps me interested although I may be doing a NE trip this July so... -

^Actually, the first part is out already. I picked it up last weekend at Ohayocon, and part 2 is coming out in March Anyways, cant wait to see how Stein's house turns out with all those wonderful stitches. Are you gonna do the other locations like Italy and the Pyramids? -

After marathoning the first 13 episodes again yesterday, you have no idea how happy this makes me...Are you actually making a Soul Eater themed park? Sounds like a good concept, and its RCT2 so I should be able to load it when your done. *goes back to listening to Soul Eater OST*
