New Zierer Coaster for Schwabenpark - Germany
Reon replied to Kooky's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks pretty cool. Nice looking trains, fast lift, interesting layout, and decent speed for whats supposed to be a family/kiddy coaster. I'd definately check it out....if I was ever in Germany. -

Another quick question from a different member: Structurally speaking, shouldn't they construct the actual track before making the building? It seems like it would be easier to build the ride that way, unless the track and supports actually are built on the posts of the structure or something.... -

I have to start going on fridays. The crowds yesterday seemed insane for it being a pre-season saturday. I mean, I know there were groups and stuff, but I actually gave up trying to ride anything and left about 30 minutes after the park opened because it was just that crowded! Anyways, great to hear AE finally got spruced up. I keep on passing it this year since its line is always out to the entrance every time I've gone, but I need to give my first coaster some loving this year....Did you happen to check out the Flight Deck line when you were there? Its consistantly been back past the stairs and into the s-curve area for me all year... -

Real quick update for you guys since I haven't posted anything here in a while.... First and foremost, the mid-July trip has been all but confirmed. It will be a coasters and anime convention tour leading up to Otakon and back to Knoxville, where my friend Doug who's joining this trip lives. Thanks to the ClubTPR card, we should be saving alot, though I wish there was some discount for Kennywood....Right now the schedual looks like this: Wednesday: Kennywood Thursday: Set up booth at Otakon and hit SFA Friday/Saturday: Otakon Sunday: Head to Kings Dominion and start there Monday: Finish at Kings Dominion and head to Carowinds Tuesday: SFOG, with a possible stop at Lake Winnie on the way back. Secondly, I'm gonna head back to KI on Saturday, so I should be able to bring another update this weekend. -

I'm not saying its a bad thing. I loved KI back during its Paramount years, and I can't wait to see what he'll do with all the Six Flags parks...I was just pointing out that this is an interesting turn of events. -

Reon replied to mrzero's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I fully agree with you on all acounts, except for the fact that I haven't been up to Waldameer yet. I want to though...maybe I can make a weekend out of CP-Waldameer or something. Anyways, first things first, I <3 Knoebels! Awesome atmosphere, great service, sweet rides, and of course if you'd seen my avatar or sig, you would know that Phoenix is hands down my favorite coaster ever! I fully support small parks though. I've been working Coney Island Cincinnati for what will be my 5th year now, while I could have just as easily worked at Kings Island or something. Just because a park has new fantastic rollercoasters, or has some fancy dark ride doesn't make it better than small parks. Its a case of quality vs quantity. I love Cedar Point as much as the next guy, and am fortunate enough to live a few hours away so I can go a few times a year, but I'd say one of my favorite local parks has to be Strickers Grove. It doesn't matter how tall and fast Dragster is, it can't beat the epic airtime of Tornado. That being said, Waldameer looks really cool from the pics you posted. Its a shame it was so baren that day.... I hope I can make it up there sometime. -

I would just like to say how ironic/awesome/hilarious it is to have the guy who sold his own chain to Cedar Fair as the new CEO of the other major amusment park chain in the USA. I know that the Paramount buyout had to do with Paramount and not the chain, and I'm sure this is a different situation, but I smell Cedar Fair conspiracy....eventually. -Jared (the guy who lives at KI and CP anyways) Becker -

I'm really hoping that the lights on Beast's second tunnel were just on for opening day or something. Thats the one tunnel on the ride thats chaotic and pitch black during the day, so I'd hate to see its majesty ruined. Still, CF fail. Did you actually try Boo Blasters? I ended up hitting it twice last Saturday, and it was pretty good. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I only have 2 things to say about the whole Flying Turns issue... Firstly, It'll be done when its done, so stop complaining. Despite this one taking longer than usual, Knoebels has had a long history of constructing things slowly. This is partially because they are all HOME MADE and therefore unique and take extra care/time to do right. And usually its a quality>quantity thing since most of thier stuff is epic win. Plus the fact that they ARE working on other projects concurrently. They've started restoring a long defunct coaster and made a new kiddie since then.... Second, for those of you that dont think it will be thrilling enough, too bad. Even if this doesn't turn out to be the most amazing ride in the world, Knoebels still HAS the best wood I've ever been on. So if your really complaining about the Turns that much, the just give Phoenix some loving. Just means one less person in line for the new coaster I have to wait behind. -Reon, who will continue to wait patiently as he plans his next Knoebels visit SINCE ITS THE BEST PARK EVER -

The box was there on opening day, just without the ride sign. Hopefully the Jizz can confirm this when he gets back from work today. -

Its kind of hard to say. There are still some little kid-ish props throughout the ride, but with all the strobe lights and skeletons and stuff, its definately a little bit more mature now. -

To answer questions on the flume, the trough looked a bit deeper than usual, but I dont know how that affected anything. It seemed to glide mostly over the track and hit the turn at a moderate speed. I didn't feel a forceful jolt, but by just watching it go, you could definately tell it was slamming into the wall violently. -

Apparently I was just uploading too fast, and completely missed putting that shot up. BEHOLD! I'm talking about that white/faded/rusted part. I could understand it being from the water, but the section that gets the residual is the one right below it. Plus with the fact that the ride is barely a year old, the paint shouldn't be fading yet... Also, thank you (?) jedimaster. I wasn't sure if I needed the "Photo TR" tag for something like this, since I haven't seen it on any of the other megathreads like the Brian and Adam Show or Big Mike.... -

Try a nighttime thunderstorm ride on both! Oh I remember that last year. Don't think I hit Beast that night, but I got in a good 6 laps on Diamondback during the storm. INTENSE! -

Where did that thread ever go anyways? I was looking for it to just continue my older threads, but I had to start a new one. Also, I DID mention the tunnel on BS Coaster. Didn't you read the text above all the pics? -
Oh the games I have to finish... Pokemon Heart Gold: Done with the main game. Grinding for the Kanto half and other stuff, but I have a well rounded LV50 team outside of whatever else I train. Persona 3 FES: Playing Journey. I've got about 3 midnight events to go and then whatever else... Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story: Oh, M&L rpgs, how you sooth me. I'm basically working on it between games Devil Survivor: Got to get my Shin Megami Tensei fix...Its pretty hard though, and I'm stuck on the first boss right now. Yugioh 5Ds Reversal of Arcadia: Yeah I'm still a YuGiOh geek. Basically playing it whenever I feel like it to beat the story and unlock more cards.

New Ride for Camden Park, WV in 2010
Reon replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I may have to go back there sometime. Until this year, I went to Marshall University, which was down in Huntington. I only went to the park once, but they have some cool rides like a decently wet flume, two good woodies, flyers, and a coaster-haunted house thing. -

Welcome to the world of Beast at night! You didn't have time to get a night ride on Diamondback, did you? Its just as insane as Beast at night in terms of pitch-blackness... -
Yes, I'm conforming to the mass of users who make mega-threads about their theme parking ventures. FEAR MY GENERIC! Anyways, a little about myself/plans before I start. My home park(s) are Kings Island, and the lesser known Coney Island Cincinnati, aswell as the epicness that is Strickers Grove...I guess Cedar Point too when I'm up at college. Anyways, I've been working for said Coney as a ride op and will be returning for the 5th year, so exspect lots of updates from the general Cincinnati area...and Cedar Point I guess. As for pictures, my camera prints too large for TPR, so until I can figure out how to resize, you will learn to settle with Photobucket. That, and I'll be backing up most of my reports on my FB...But enough about that, you only care about where I'm going this year... Kings Island Coney Island Cedar Point Strickers Grove Holiday World Kennywood Six Flags America Kings Dominion Carowinds Six Flags Over Georiga Lake Winnie? Waldameer Six Flags Great America ??? But enough of intros, you came for the TRs and updates, right? Lets start with KI opening day... For pretty much my entire life, KI opening day has been a traditional visit, and I wasn't about to let living 3 hours North of my hometown stop me...so I didn't. Dawning my magical TPR hoodie for the 2nd time (the 1st transported me to Cedar Point), I was instantly transported to Kings Island. Beating out all of the other major KI posters (Even the fabled JizzMan), I bring forth updates of 2010, and other pretty pictures for you to feast your eyes upon... Backlot Stunt Coaster: Lights in the tunnel are now on, and the launch is so slow, I could swear that its going to rollback sometime this season. Other than that, you know the drill Boo Blasters: AWESOME RETHEME Race for your Life: A bit too violent, but it now gives an acceptable amount of wetness Racer: The whole track got that double-plank-in-the-middle-of-the track treatment. Tis quite smooth now. Other stuff: READ BELOW!!!! Hi, LSHoF! It's been a while... At this point, the line to get my pass processed was about 10 Miles long Don't worry, I only have about half an hour to wait...I kid though, Staff was doing a great job trying to speed up the pass processing...process. The park has been open for about half an hour, and Invertigo has valleyed....Vekoma Valley Count: 1 Of course, accompaning me today is one of my many Growlithes. Oh Pokemon, you are made of addiction and nostalgia. And now for a flury of shots from the new Planet Snoopy. ENJOY THE COLOR SCHEMES Creativity Fail Better view of the car+Main ride sign I like how the colors worked out on this one... Some index lovin' Any picture of Diamondback is a good picture Another year, another tradition that I keep following. First ride of the season goes to my coaster twin, Vortex (1987 ride and I was born in 1987) Vortex was actual moderately smooth, but it might have just been the fact that I rode 7-1. Either way, its still very photogenic and made of win. New for 2010: ZORBS!!!! Somewhere in this old Eurobungy pad (Coney still has Eurobungy for all you fans) lies a pool of what I hope is water How you doing, expired Nick liscence? New for 2010: Intimidator 31 Not only have they made the trains universally colored, but they actually shortened them by one car during the day... Has anyone ever noticed its now called Backlot Stunt Coaster? I'm just saying... Hi expired liscence! Alternative caption: I just deliberatly avoided a signature shot TWICE! SKLOOSH!...no wait. Also, apparently they added the 3rd car back on The trains still have liscence plates. A look at the front of the train Crypt: The ride that USED to be cool. Atleast the queue music sounds good now... I see you, LSHoF! Still made of happy airtime, but the front doesn't seem to deliver as much as it used to...also, whats up with that one piece of track? FLUME OF DOOM!...and now we narrate SKLOOSH! OHMYGODWHATTHECRACKSQUISHSLAM Okay, were good now-Ooh, pretty theming! But seriously, Race for Your Life has some nice theming until the ride actually starts. Barbershop Quartet. Fancy. Vekoma Valley Count: 2 The train did eventually move, but it sat dormant on the lift almost all day. Ah, the power of changing letters around I like the ghost up there. Boocifer aproves How cute. How generic... And then we zoom out. BBoBH is pretty cool though It has $1 3-D.... ...a new story.... ...and Boocifer Failed attempt at getting a shot of the cart. Overall, the ride's pretty fun. Yes there are cheesy/generic parts, and you can tell where they recycled old attractions. But once you get past that, its an awesome shooter with new tech like mist-projected holograms and such. I wont spoil it, but its worth checking out. Boocifer approves Haha Its like they aren't even TRYING to reopen it New for 2010: A new cut path thingy in the 12 year long line to get to Flight Gun Hey Guys. I'm one of the last of my kind...LOVE ME This was kind of cool. Nice retheme The old 4-D payride is now lockers for Racer... Theming Some transfer track porn. Look at all those people queueing for JJ credits ...and I am among them I think this is the longest line I have ever seen for Beast. 2 sections of switches were open+the one in the station...and they were running 2 train op I have officially survived the closest thing I care to waiting for Beast back in the good ol' days....or a coaster event New for 2010: ZOOOOOOOOLTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR! And now we finish things off with some Tower shots. Because I care...sometimes Partial SKLOOSH! Enjoy this overview Hi death-flume! You can tell the distinct line between where its themed and not. Also, it was closed by this point. I really like the color scheme of Woodstock. Kind of RCT-ish, but it blends in perfectly with everything, especially the sky. Hi waste of space! I hope you enjoy being a Beemer...or an Intamin...or something thats not a violent pile of wood...or a Pancake I leave you with this pic of the new GWL slide. FAREWELL, DENIZENS OF THE INTERNETS! ADMIN EDIT: I have added "Photo TR:" to the front of your title. In the future, make sure to add that to the from of your photo trip reports. Other than that, thanks for sharing this with us!

Did they just start it last year? I have yet to notice the roped off seats, but that may just be since I havent really ridden it since we got Diamondback....Either way, I have rarely seen it down. At times it closes for a bit for something mechanical or whatever, but that happens on everything. Saturday was the first time I actually saw it legit closed the full day for something like valleying. -

That and the fact that inverted coasters are one of the most common things at KI. Not that they have a B&M one yet, but the park already owns a Invertigo, one of the few remaining Arrow suspendeds, and a Mini SLC.. -
