  1. Mike, is there any chance you can move KI to this thursday? I have a pretty busy week at work, and I'd love to meet up on friday if I can get someone to either of my shifts. Still, I have thursday off, and weekdays are better anyways at KI. ...or you can just stop by Coney Island
  2. Its great to see the monorail FINALLY brought back to life. Its been sitting idle at JJ's for quite some time now. I'll have to pay that place another visit once it's fully operational.
  3. Wood: Phoenix tunnel. Its pitch black, turns, and it builds up for the epic airtime your about to experience Steel: MM. Something tells me its the closest thing we have in the US to that Scooby Doo coaster in Australia. Its a great dark ride section with outer-banked turns, quick drops, and an addicting song.
  4. If you look at that drawing, notice that the 3 turn arounds look sort of like a teardrop loop turned on it's side. Maybe the origional drawings are still acurate, and thats what the article was talking about.
  5. So far I'm impressed. I'm hearing this thing being compared to a themeless MM, or Eurofighter in general. MM is one of my favorite steel coasters right now, so I think I'll be pretty happy riding this one. Won't know until I get a chance to ride it though.
  6. I think he's just giving out as much as he can without getting fired etc. So far, it seems like everything he said is bound to happen. We have the watersplash planned out, its likely a hyper, and I've seen land getting cleared all over the park, so it's entirely possible that this thing will be enormous! Maybe a new record breaker?
  7. Still, it could be a non-90 steep drop. Remember that CW Goliath is some 70-80 degrees.
  8. I'm thinking it will be some sort of near 90 or past 90 degree first drop. Now that Intamin has copied Gestalur (can never spell that right), I can see B&M might want to join the steep first drop club. I think a hyper with that kind of first dive would be AMAZING, especially if the layout is sort of like Nitro, as some have predicted. With that location, it would be a great ride with plenty of airtime, good terraining with the element of suprise, and a sweet first drop. Edit: I just got off the phone with JZ. We're starting to think that it might be a low to the ground ride now. If thats the case, I'm thinking something along the lines of a steel Voyage (which would be amazing since Voyage is my favorite wooden coaster right now). If you think about it, this could make sence. If its groundhugging, it wont disturb Beast's mysteriousness, and that one "Do not disturb" sign could mean that it wont disturb the public with all its giant hills or something.
  9. Does anyone think that tag line "the park strikes back in '09" means anything? Or are they just putting in the generic COME RIDE THIS THING!!!!!!111!!! message there?
  10. I can't wait to hear if it's open yet. Coney has been giving me days off in 2's lately, so nearby coaster trips like IB are very viable for me this year.
  11. I figured that was the case. Still, in all my trips on the train over the last 15ish years, this was the first time anyone has ever mentioned it.
  12. I think I saw you guys when I went up on the 1st. I remember seeing that MM shirt in line for Voyage (I was wearing my long sleeved Phoenix shirt.) Anyways, about the park: EPICLY AWESOME wooden coasters (Voyage put up a good fight and now tops Phoenix as my fave), but the flat selection is sort of meh. They have a few fun ones, and I liked Frightful Falls, but the park seems to be lacking in inverted rides. It could really do with a top spin of sorts I think. Oh well, Free unlimited drinks and some of the greatest wooden coasters I've been on made up for that.
  13. Happy birthday, JZ! As for signs, JZ texted me several other messages: "Ride Sally Ride!" "Steep incline ahead!" "Slippery when wet!" "Move slowly...do not disturb!" I think we can rule the slippery one as the waterbrake, and the steep incline one hints back at a Dive Machine, or atleast a steep drop. Not sure about the Sally one, but that last one does remind me of something from the other day. I went on the train, and the operator started talking about the "KI Grizzly" in the woods. I looked over and saw a wooden statue of a grizzly bear. Now, I know that we have hints of the coaster name being "Mustang", but that grizzly statue was something I hadn't noticed before, and CF has a tendancy to clone names (already two Grizzly's in other parks.) Now why this reminds me of the last sign, its probabbly better to not bother bears Either way, I'll be in the park on Tuesday to check it out myself...
  14. After finally getting the change to visit HW today, I'd say they need more flats. Specifically, inverted ones like Chaos or top spins. Their coaster line up is already awesome, and the only thing they could do to improve it is to keep up the good work. As for the oasis...I had 6 cups of Dew today, and I wouldnt trade it for Coke for the world. Also, Voyage=love
  15. I'd love to go to that USA section. Awesome hyper, and 2 of my favorite flats (Round Up and Top Spin). Good job on the park so far. Can't wait to see what's added next. Maybe some terraining, since thats the only thing it lacks right now.
  16. ^I second that. Aside from popularity, TT is one of the world's first dueling coasters. If for nothing else, they should keep it for the history, but the industry doesnt seem to care for things like that (RIP King Cobra). As far as replacements go, that area took up alot of space. If SF cared at all, they could easily put in a good non-hyper there, and some more rides.
  17. Vortex at KI. One of my favorite coasters at the park, and its FILLED with airtime.
  18. I'm not really into gambling, but thanks anyways. As for the parent thing, I have no clue. Their at the stage where they don't trust me to drive any further than 1 hour away without a friend or something (they have no trust in me to do anything by myself...)
  19. From your layout, your missing one key thing. The image sort of borders on the canyon, so you cant see it that well. From point 1, the track should veer right and head down the canyon drop, then turn left to where I saw some flags heading in a straight line yesterday. THEN the woods stuff happens.
  20. I have today and tomarow off work, so I thought I would finally go down to HW. Problem is, my parents refuse to let me make it a one day trip, so now I have some planning to do. Aside from all the stuff in the tip threads, here are my questions: 1. Is there anything else to do in the surrounding area? 2. Is it worth it to buy a 2 day pass if I'm arriving later in the day today? 3. Cheaper hotels in the area. 4. Any other suggestions/tips. Thanks for the help in advance...
  21. I'd actually be happy if its anything like Nitro. It was one of my favorite rides on my SFGAdv trip. With the raven, shaping of the area, and all those other factors, the layout will be slightly different, but I can deffinatley see the resemblance right now.
  22. Do you have a planned schedule of when you plan on hitting each park?
  23. As far as other things in Cincinnati, I suggest you check out Coney Island. You can get there pretty easily from KI by taking 275 West down to the exit before the Kentucky bridge. Its no huge park, but it has a nice charm to it that can keep you busy for a couple hours. Plus theres a credit to be had (and I work there, so I have to promote it somehow ) Aside from that, theres the Newport Aquarium just across the river from downtown, which is pretty cool if you like that sort of thing. As far as your other questions: 1) Schools should be done, but you never know when a camp group might drop by... 2) You might want to get JZ's oppinion on this. I'm too lazy to gauge crowds since I just go up to KI whenever. Since its getting close to July 4, I'd say there would be some crowds, but nothing unbearable. 3) Unless its a really crowded day, its pretty easy to get all the coasters in one go. I'd recommend starting in the Action Zone and working your way around, unless you want to hit Crypt and Beast first, in which case start over by Nick Universe. 4) Haven't been to the Beach in a while, But I personally thing Boomerang Bay isnt that good. Its worth the visit if you have time, but I'd rather spend time at the Beach for the sake of Cincinnati waterparks. Hope I was able to help out. I'll see if I can get off work one of those days and meet you there.
  24. 1: Adventure Express at KI 25: forgot 50: Forgot 75: Viper at SFGAm 100: Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood
  25. ^Deathbat hasn't been working since my first trip on Crypt when I met up with JZ. Can't confirm anything, but I'll ask around and such... As far as coasters go, have to agree that Firehawk is better than B&M's. Its one of my favorite coasters in the park right now. Beast and Backlot have grown on me lately. The double ride car actually gives some nice floater and ejector down the first two hills on Beast, and the first car on Backlot has some pops of airtime in it. Ofcourse Vortex is still my fave
