West Coast Bash 2010! Register Now! See Page 1
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flights aren't bad, now I just need to look at hotels etc, but this event looks so epic, I may have to venture out to the left coast. -
I would actually suggest staying away from a wooden coaster since wooden support structures tend to fairly complex and can be difficult to draw well. I would go with a classic arrow element like a loop or a double corkscrew, simple yet elegant. Both would actually have some complexities if drawing in perspective.

While at first I thought the same thing, when you stop and think about it, it makes a bit more sense. I am guessing that keeping Busch in the name was off the table, and even if it wasn't it would be in Blackstone's interest to gain a name for themselves that was not dependant on someone else's brand. So what name that they currently have already has something behind it? Worlds of Discovery? I am sure if you asked anyone outside the themepark fan circle, that they would have no idea what that was. Seaworld on the other hand is well known all over the world. Also, in this press release it does not say that Busch is being removed from the park names, only the corporate name. It actually still mentions both Busch Gardens parks by that name.

Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ You can just insert a coaster with a decimal point. For example if Raptor fell between your number 9 and 10 coasters, you could give it a rating of 9.5 and it would calculate your list correctly. -

THere are some odd shadows in the layout overview. I am guessing its from a support killer? -

Absolutely PERFECT analogy. But you aren't supposed to ride with your arms up, you are supposed to flap them. I fully admit it took the third or fourth go around before i had the courage to let go. I have to admit, the new rides at Skara/Grona are the only coasters in a LONG time that have scared me while riding. -

^There were seat belts. It just felt like they didn't do anything. I think it was the weird movement of the ride combined with the absolutely minimal restraint that made the ride scary. -
Virginia vs. New England
Moose replied to CreditCrazy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Opinions are personal. Just because yours is different doesn't make yours better. Be nice! If you have time or money restrictions, those two factors may govern your decision. The New England parks will likely be far cheaper for park admission. Flights and hotels can vary depending on the weekend. The key thing to remember is you won't have a terrible time with either choice if you go into it with a mindset of having fun rather than anticipation because of someone else's opinion. If you go in expecting to ride the most amazingest awesome ride because yada yada yada you will likely be disappointed with whatever you choose. -

I loved Liseberg. I loved Balder. I did not love the fact that there were no bathrooms open when our ERT was done. This was probably my favorite park day ever. -
Larry just sympathizes with the tinman. I love the scarecrow. He came out looking really cute (as did the other two).

Regarding Liz in the pics, I had a geotechnical professor in college that said his wife complained that he only brought her on vacations so he could have a scale in pictures. I suspect she may have been right because most of the pictures of rocks and dirt he showed us would have her standing next to them looking like it was a normal vacation picture. So, in order to make the castle look bigger, you should have included her in more pictures. I hope you got at least a few pictures of the two of you together in some of these amazing places.

^I love It's a fine fine line. So much so I bought the song on Itunes when I got home from seeing the show. I could see the football players singing the internet is for porn. Except for the whole fact that the show is in network primetime. Unfortunately, most Avenue Q songs are probably a bit to risque.

THe dueling looks a bit off. Maybe it is because the red tracked coaster (excuse my ignorance if it is human or cylon) seems to be crawling through portions of the track. Still looks like a great couple of coasters. -

^ I watched the video. To me it looks like it was loaded and unloaded exactly the same way it always has been with the exception of the airgates. -

I let out a gasp when I saw the Mr. Men plush. And then I saw the Domos. And then the Rudolph plush. I would have died on the spot. All very cool. -

^Short attention spans. It looks great. -
^ I am guessing neither of the two previous posters are old enough to have used the Contra Code. Personally, it is permantly ingrained in my mind.

^Edit: You beat me to it! I wonder if the drifting coaster is like Mack's e-Motion coaster, perhaps with another axis of rotation? Robb, I like the haircut. -
^Well said. Close, but not quite. First off, the name of the park was Rocky Point Park. Second, as far as I can remember the ride was actually just called the Corkscrew, even though RCDB lists it as LoopScrew. I just finished watching a documentary on the park and everyone in it called it corscrew. Finally, the ride was not dismantled before the auction. The auction occured with all the rides still standing, and the auctioneer driving around in a truck to auction off the rides in front of the actual rides. Jon

"Structurally sounder" sounder? Hmm. This was a nice little history of coasters. Thanks for uploading it.
