  1. ^ Unfortunately the PR damage is likely already done. I am sure some people will have heard the first story about someone dying and not the second and spread the word to others. "I heard one of the Velociraptors ate her"
  2. I hope these shoulder straps are like the ones on Bakken's new Intamin "spinner" Tornado and the Zac Spins. They are actually quite comfortable. The fact that Tornado had these over the shoulder restraints also caused quite a bit of complaining, but having ridden it, I was quite thankfull that it did.
  3. I am afraid of the beaver video. I love my Ikea Katolog in Swedish. It now sits next to its much less cool English version. Surprisingly, much of the products are about the same cost when adjusted for the exchange rate when we were there.
  4. The only real similarity is the drop - turn - hill under lift combo to start the ride. I think people are going to be disappointed if they're expecting a mega-lite esque ride from this. They have a lot more in common than that. They both have pretty much the same elements and layout. They will not be EXACTLY the same; one is almost three times as tall as the other how could they be? Both the layouts are essentially: Drop into low turn to the right, Airtime hill under the lift, airtime hill, low curve to the left, zig zag airtime hills, low turn to the right, airtime hills, low turn to the left, breaks.
  5. The RCT waterslides didnt have any propulsion up the hills, it was all momenum based. There were the lifthill elements, but i wouldnt really call that propulsion.
  6. I can't wait to ride this giga-lite.
  7. I hate the name. But it's only a name. I Loveeeee the support structure of this baby. So sexy. So efficient. I have never seen details for structure breakdown weight before, but I thought it was interesting that the track and the supports weigh the same amount. I have a feeling for most of the taller coasters out there that the supports weigh much more than the track itself.
  8. Big Mike, I did not expect to have the Road Show rolling through New England again this year, but no Rhode Island stop? I am dissapointed you would not visit my fine state just because it has no coasters. Let me know your schedule and I will try and meet up.
  9. You know what other coaster flys over a lake (well river)? Big Bad Wolf. I bet Holiday world is buying it and changing their terrain to fit it. It makes perfect sense. FYI There is no way this is actually what they are doing. NO WAY.
  10. Depeche Mode - Wrong Seeing them tonight!
  11. Like a horse that dusts the air as s/he goes around? I swear that is a duster coming out of its head. If I haven't already said it, I LOVE these updates.
  12. Actually. There is nothing remotely GAY about most of the music selection. Well maybe the Donna Summer and the Gloria Gaynor tracks could be considered somewhat GAY, but I could think of a ton more GAY anthems than what they chose.
  13. 15 minutes or even just getting the opportunity to get into the line before the gp is a HUGE perk. I have now been on three trips with the Alveys and on all at least two of them there have been perks like this (I can't remember one on Scandi, but that doesnt mean we didnt have one). Getting 15 minutes was more than we got on a few of the coasters, on Silver Star, Bandit (Movie Park) and Big Thunder (Paris) we literally got to get on the ride JUST before the GP and we got at least two rides on each of them. Two rides we didn't need to wait for. Two rides that developed huge lines instantly. Two rides that were hard fought and won by Robb and Elissa. Bandit sucked and I wouldn't have wanted to wait for, and actually wouldnt have had time to ride because of when it opened to the public and the length of the line. Any perk is something to be thankful for and 15 minutes is definately a perk.
  14. With that, the argument is settled. Penis it is. And let me tell you it does sway.
  15. I thought that was your only reason Nice update.
  16. Wait, are you calling Robbie a "girl" or are you saying this girl because you got the hole in one and are writing the report? Great report!
  17. I like to compare BGE with the great European parks because it has a ton in common with the beautiful landscaping and the fact that there is more to do than just ride coaster after coaster. I would hope that BGE would add something more than just a coaster. Vliegende Hollander, while not a great ride shows what can be done with theming to a family coaster. Fluch von Novgorod is more of a thrill ride, but its combination of dark ride and coaster elevated the rides appeal. Wouldn't a Swiss section make sense with a bobsled coaster (either with the trough or gerstlauer)?
  18. Like everyone else, I am sad to see BBW go, it was one of my first major coasters and always loved it. The return to the station after that second drop always surprised me. Hopefully they have a good plan for improving the park, and personally, I hope it IS NOT a flyer. I'm just not a fan.
  19. ^Firefox is not opening it for me EDIT: Apparently I was not up to date on firefox though I could have sworn it selfupdated yesterday.
  20. The tiger pictures are amazing. Thankyou so much for posting this trip report.
  21. Is there a way to change our email address or should we just unsubscribe and resubscribe under the new one? I have changed my address through the forum, but am unsure how to do it on mailing list.
  22. Great update again chuck. MMMMM bacon. Spin Spider was amazingly fightening yet awesome at the same time. I wish the ONE RIDE OP FOR A BRAND NEW RIDE would have tried harder to staple me. Speaking of ONE RIDE OP FOR A BRAND NEW RIDE. That was my complaint of this place. Staffing. Do they really need three girls chatting at the Vekoma when two would suffice (since they were hardly working anyway) when their brand new ride only has one girl to check all 40 (50?) restraints and then start the ride? Bah. The vekoma wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. It had one really wonky moment on the lift and then it was decent. We were told by someone to ride in the back and it'd be better... and they were right!
  23. teach me oh wise one. How should this type of spinner be loaded for optimal spinning?
  24. THis is odd. If it is by the park, are they saying all their rides make you puke? Is that a desirable thing for some people? Purple Monkey for me.
