SLC's have the potential to be VERY good rides, just look at their layout. Sure they may be cloned, but they are quite fun and creative. They just need softer restraints. When I went to SFNE, I was going to expect a complete pain machine, and although I felt several jolts through my body, the restraints were practically pillows, and I experienced no pain AT ALL. I almost put it into my top 10! (Storm Runner and SFNE's S:ROS tie the #1 spot.) -

Although I am excited that a B&M Hyper is within my region (ok, 5 hours away) but still, I think B&M should start to vary their layouts more. I can see the idea "consistency of a high quality product is good" but still, at least they should try to make some stuff out of the box. They tried that with Hydra, and they almost did it, they just had to make the lift about 10 or 20 feet taller so it would get some awesome forces instead of moderate forces. -
Umm, I'm trying something new. So, post a picture of you favorite weapon, or weapons. It can be a gun, sword, whatever. Yeah, I'm bored. Anyway: The FN P90 http://www.militaryfactory.com/smallarms/imgs/p90.jpg The Mk 48 Mod 0 (MK 48 LMG) http://images.military.com/pics/SoldierTech_Mk48-1.jpg

Hey, it looks like I was the closest estimation of the height of the coaster! Sure I was 14 feet and 7 inches above, but everyone else was anywhere from 30 feet to 55 feet below. The new trains look really weird, and I'm a little concerned about the airtime this ride will have, and the brakes on the MCBR seemed to be on kind of hard. Let's hope thay won't use the trims. -
Well, I still have about a week and a half, AND I still have one park left (Sylvan Beach.) W00T!

Ok, here is my rating: Originality: 7/10 I liked the layout. Unique and low to the ground, which gave it some good pacing. Adrenaline: 6/10 It had good speed, but it lacked good airtime. You could have fixed this by making the crests of the hills a bit sharper, so the airtime would reach around -1.0 to 1.5, which is where I usually try to design my rides if possible. Technical: 3/10 There was a huge amount of pumps all over the place. Overall rating: 5 1/3 - Average. -
If each "bar" on the height counter denotes an equal amount, then you are wrong. The height counter currently says 87 feet, and 16 bars are lit up. So do the math: 87/16=5.4375, so that means each bar should equal 5.4375 feet. I counted all the bars on the meter, and there are 45 bars. So, do the math again: 5.4375*45=244.6875, which means if the measurements are equal, the bar would max out at 244.6875 feet, I would say 244 feet and 7 inches or so. If that is the actual height of the coaster, that pretty much screams Hyper Coaster, and not a Floorless, and that would make it B&M's largest coaster so far, taller than Silver Star by about 5 feet.

^ Luckily, my friend has a little sister that is not even tall enough to ride Jack Rabbit, so I've been able to Credit Whore myself onto Beartrax for 3 years in a row. I can say that it is a really fun ride. It almost has airtime on the hills, and the laterals are quite strong. -
That's not a B&M problem, it's a parks maintenance problem. There's plenty of B&Ms out there which are quite old, and yet are still smooth as the year they opened. Then there's other B&Ms that in one year develop square wheels, like Scream at SFMM. Just look at ROS at DL as an example of this. Was great 6 years ago, now I hear it is a bone breaker. HAHAHA!!!! That statement just made my day. RoS is definitely "vibratey", but even Hydra is FAR worse than RoS. (Also vibratey, but not painful, along with B:TDK) RoS is painless, provides great airtime, and even the helixes have forces enough to start a gray out. It feel even more intense if you lean in the opposite direction that the helix is traveling. This is according to my rides on it in 2004, 2006, and 2007.

If possible, I would prefer "I like Pudding and Butter" as my title. If not, then "The few, the proud, the Hercules fanboy" or "Full Fledged Sylvan Beach Enthusiast".

Uhh, technically Griffon and SheiKra do that. They are both Floorless Dive Machines, they are both Hyper Coasters (technically, because they are 200 and 205 feet tall) and they both have inversions (SheiKra has one Immelmann, Griffon has two Immelmanns.) So, yeah, it's either Floorless or Hyper. Or even better yet: HYPER FLOORLESS!

Crap, if I knew you were there on the 20th, I would have tried to do a meet up, (I was there on the 20th.) Oh well, at leas I have pics AND a video. -
All B&M Hyper Footers are square. For Intamin Hypers, Ride of Steel and Expedition Ge Force have Square and Circular Footers. (Thunder Dolphin has some circular footers, along with building rooftops and steel framework being used, also.) However, Millennium Force has circular footers only, and since the only footers I have seen so far are circular, I think there are three major possibilities: B&M Hyper Coaster Reasons: 1: Bolt configuration as someone who mentioned before was of B&M style and not Intamin. 2: Semi confirmed by Screamscape to be so. Intamin Giga Coaster Reasons: 1: "18 months of planning and construction" sounds more of a HUGE project like a Giga Coaster instead of a large project like a Hyper Coaster. 2: Only footers seen are circular, MF has circular only footers, and of the three choices, is the only coaster with circular footers only. 3: A Giga Coaster would give the park an edge over Darien Lake and give it in competition with Cedar Point (although it is in the same chain as Cedar Point.) Intamin Hyper Coaster Reasons: 1: Circular footers are used, but not all are poured, so some of them could be square, which square and circular footers is a trait on two of the Intamin Hyper Coasters. 2: Hyper Coasters, although still very expensive, are a bit cheaper and more popular (more have been built.) Personally, I think any one of these can happen. Oh well, only one week to go until the official announcement, and I have Seabreeze and the New York State Fair to keep me occupied until then. (And Sylvan Beach after.)

The Houdini Ride (or whatever it's called) at Six Flags New England. It's in the Crack Axle Canyon area where they have Tomahawk (Huss Frisbee) and Rodeo (Huss Break Dance) Yes, that one is a Vekoma Mad House, and that thing confused the crap out of me. It was actually pretty well themed, and it even has a bit of a pre show, like ToT. But the ride op who came in and gave us the spiel kept laughing for some reason. I'm not going to ruin the surprise for the people who don't know about the ride, (it seemed to be the "forgotten section" of the park, and very few people were there) as to why it was so confusing. In terms of coasters, I would probably say Bobsleds at Seabreeze. It is probably the closest thing to a "Family Japanese Coaster" anyone can get in North America other than Titan at Sevla Magica in Mexico, the only Sansei Yusoki Coaster in North America. Although Bobsleds is actually a Kiddie Coaster that was modified to have an extra layer of track and with steel rails after the park owner visited Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland in California, it has some pretty weird elements, like two bunny hops about a foot high each, right out of the station, and they even provide some floater airtime, and it uses a heavy duty chain lift as a braking system. It works, but it's weird nonetheless. Bobsleds - Seabreeze pictures: http://rcdb.com/ig228.htm Titan - Sevla Magica pictures: http://rcdb.com/ig713.htm I have not been on Titan at Sevla Magica, heck I never even went to Mexico, but that ride still is worth mentioning.

When I went to TGE last year, I actually had a fun time. The only thing I see bad with the park is that they need something thrilling, and they should have kept Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon now that they are adding Serial Thriller instead of replacing it. The place is pretty nice, save for a bit of a lack of trees next to Comet (the paths on the right side, not the Mountain on the left side) and although Steamin' Demon is rough, it's not as bad as, oh say, Astroland's Cyclone. Yeah, Canyon Blaster is basically two lifts with just as many drops, but it was still a family ride, and is intended as such. Comet is unbelievable, with airtime and laterals all over the place, and their Boomerang has nice trees around and such, and is quite smooth. Alpine Bobsleds needs a higher capacity, but overall the place would be very fun family park if they simply add a B&M coaster with a couple of large (intense) flat rides. Their Pirate Ship is my favorite by far, and although the program is a little short, the airtime delivered is amazing! But their Huss Condor is a disappointment. As soon as it reaches the top, it goes back down, and there is basically no swinging. Overall, I like the park a lot, and I think many of the parks in the state although are not as amazing as Cedar Point, they are not complete piles of crap that these biased/jaded people say that they are. -

Hey, I guess I'm not the only one who noticed Wildcat's "Laughing Elephant Brakes" as I call them. Heck, I can even do a pretty good impression of them. BTW, the "laugh" has been there since I first rode it in 2003, but I can't say if it has happened since before then, because I never went close enough to the brake section until '03 because I was too scared to ride it. -
Well, I have never been to Europe, so I can't say that it is scary, but I have been on a ride that is similar to it (Batman: The Dark Knight at Six Flags New England) and I can say that Batman is short, but intense, and it made my top 10 steel coaster list. Very few rides scare me, but if Daemonen is anything like Batman, it should be intense, despite its small size. But if you are still scared, realize that the entire ride lasts only about 40 seconds from the top of the lift to the brakes. I hope that helps, but maybe someone who has gone on it will reply to this thread.

Tanks4me05 replied to smallish's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ That's because the trim isn't that high off the ground (30 feet, maybe? Less?) Besides, Mantis is awesome! The trims weren't on that hard when I last rode (the first time I went to CP, and that was three years ago, but luckily I'm going again next summer, w00t!) Sure it hurts, but that's what I like about Mantis. Being thrown around is fun. Of course, this is coming from a guy who still thinks Mean Streak and Hercules are fun. Anyway, I would say Mantis, because being thrown around like that is fun Montu, because DESPITE that the trims were on, and slowed the train to probably half its speed (about 4 months ago,) it still had an insane ending, and Raptor, because of that helix. -

Hmmmm, that makes me reconsider that small land plot within sight distance of Hydra for a place for a home when I'm older. -
Well, I went a couple of weeks ago, and SROS was unbelievable. (It was my first time to SFNE, so I can't really compare it to anything else) Anyway, I'm not sure if B:TDK was running trims when I was there, but the ride was still fun enough to make my top 10. Sure it is slightly rough in the back seat, but it's more forceful in the front anyway. I ended up getting an "informal ERT" right before closing and there was almost no lines, so I got four rides on it in a row in about 30 minutes.
