Theme parks of Kuwait
Tanks4me05 replied to Noxegon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dang, you actually went to Lina World! I think that is one of my favorite Japanese parks in terms from what I saw on rcdb. Anyway, did you ride Entertainment City's Tornado ride? That thing looked insane, and you didn't post a review in your TR. One more thing, I was surprised that the mid east had so many parks (I thought there would be close to none, but there's roughly two dozen, though only about ten or less are worth visiting coaster-wise) Are Israel, Lebanon, and Kuwait (the best "coaster countries" in the mid east) safe enough for an American tourist like me to go to? (Compared to both ends of the spectrum - UAE and Iraq.) -

HAH! You call that snow? Why, up here in Baldwinsville, NY, we probably had a total of almost 18 inches already, most of it on the snow day last Tuesday... (a snow day this early in the year doesn't happen often - they usually come around January. -

As long as GCI doesn't drastically change any of the banking, i think we should see it running like new. Based on the work they did last season, it seems like it will take a few weeks for the new wood to set in, but after that, it will be smooth as glass. It may even climb back up in the rankings seeing how this season, it got rave reviews with only about half of the coaster retracked. August 2007 was my first ride on Boulder Dash (the ACE event) and it kicked butt. Although the back seat definitely got painful, it's a front seat ride, anyway. HOLY CRAP! That thing is insane... now with the complete retracking, it's definitely going to be even better. -
I came back from my big sister's high school band concert about 40 minutes ago - which they were very good IMO.

Coaster goals for 2008?
Tanks4me05 replied to jappi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Your english was actually good enough that it took me a second time reading through your post to catch only two minor grammar errors. Anyway, these are my goals: Parks I will go to for 2008: 1: Darien Lake 2: Cedar Point 3: Seabreeze 4: Sylvan Beach 5: New York State Fair Parks I might go to for 2008: 1/2: Hersheypark/Dorney Park (I might have to choose between them, but I'll try to get both, hopefully as a meetup on the TPR East Coast trip) Parks that I might go to if I do enough good stuff for my mom: (I'm usually a good kid, but I'll have to be extra good for these - hopefully these will be meet ups on the TPR East Coast trip) 1: Kings Dominion 2: Six Flags America Also, if the TPR East Coast Trip does any parks in New York State, I will also try my best to meet them there - I would go with them, but it's too expensive and I have Marching Band, which I would miss a lot of rehearsals. -
I guess I'm too young to know who Evil Knievel was. Anyway, wouldn't it be ironic if Evil Knievel @ SFSTL is demolished in the year 2077?

All of the pictures have the Error 404: File Not Found on them. Could you try to re post them? EDIT 1: Oh, two people already said it wasn't working. Oh well. THis just strengthens the need. EDIT 2: Whoah, this thread's over a year old?

Actually, that could happen in some form, as my statement of our radio and television broadcasts will be known to any nearby civilizations, and some of those aliens might believe in the reports of "alien activity" but not enough for the theory to be widely accepted in their world.

It's German. I'm taking German classes. (Second year, and I'm pretty good for the students around here.) Anyway, to answer jason10's question: Because legos will eventually undermine every single government and take over the world. Why are there more flergels than malchaps? -
I too believe that aliens exist. Based on the fact that up to three celestial objects have/had water at some point (Earth, Mars billions of years ago, and Jupiter's moon, Europa) and since wherever there is water on Earth, there is life. Since Europa is basically an all water moon encased in several kilometers of ice with twice as much water as Earth (half as much of a surface area, but four times as deep) I wouldn't be surprised that some type of life could be found living in there. Think about that. Three planets/moons that have/had water in a span of half a billion miles. Think the size of the universe - in the tens of billions of light years. Not all stars have planets, but a lot do. The closest earth like planet (Gliese 581 C) is about 20.1 Light Years Away, and a planet in the Cancri 55 Solar system, (about 40 light years away) is although a gas giant, it resides in a very large "Goldilocks Zone" (the orbital ring around a star where it's not too hot or cold to sustain life) and we are still developing technologies to see smaller earth sized planets, so it's very possible we could find one in the near future. That's basically the cosmic equivalent of taking a walk of about 4 - 4.5 inches. However, whether they have visited us, I'm not so sure about that. Almost every single account of a UFO was of mistaken identity, although there are still those few exceptions that were inconclusive. But since our first radio broadcast was from December 24, 1906 (I googled that) any aliens within 101 light years would know of us already, which is easily possible for some to have visited us. Besides, they may have found a way to bypass the laws of physics (or our view of physics may not be perfect in this field) so, yeah. Almost 100% likely that aliens exist, very likely that "nearby" ones know about us, but very unlikely that any have visited us. -Tanks "yes, I am quite fascinated with aliens" 4me05.

They could have made it a rather exciting ride if they attempted to use some really powerful motors in King Kong's arms, and did some demented form of a Space Shot. IMO with the shaking, that would have been really fun. [steelhawgreference]At least I finally see real innovation at parks now.[/steelhawgreference.] -
There is a factor that people may have to realize: The wheels haven't been "broken in" yet - it's Led Zep's first run, yaknow. I can't remember if rides actually get faster when wheels are broken in, or if the ride just becomes smoother, but you have to accommodate that factor in. Well, if the coaster's elements were smaller, then, they would use less steel for the track and supports, and therefore it would cost less. But then again, the stress on the track might increase the maintenance cost. But at startup, if Led Zep's elements were scaled down, save for the first drop, it would be a win win situation - theoretically cheaper at startup, and a more intense ride, which will bring in more guests so hopefully it will lessen or cancel out that extra maintenance cost induced by the higher G forces.

That's what Rapids Waterpark did with Black Thunder - but I think they kept in that hole so it would be easier to film inside and actually see what's going on. Although Black Thunder is full sized and fully enclosed, it's post funnel section isn't nearly as large. But why they would have two tornadoes and two raft rides at the park, I don't know. It's like a park with two Intamin Accelerators. The rides are really good, but why have two? -
I use Ulead DVD Movie FActory 3, and using this program called "dvd-to-avi" I use the best codec available in the list of codecs that it has - Microsoft MPEG 4 (Version 2.0) or something like that. The shorter (around 3 minutes) videos to get to be around 40 - 80 megs using this codec, but for my longer (7 minutes or so) videos are nearing or over 100 megs. Dvd-to-avi simply changes DVD files to AVI files in the chance anyone here would (no offense) not be able to discern what the program did after reading it's name. Does that suffice for information? Oh, Edward, what is a Pram, anyway?

Hatside Park (RCT2)
Tanks4me05 replied to riccoaster's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ummm, those were still wood coasters. One or two did have steel supports, though, Coney Island Cyclone style. And besides, the first steel coaster did appear in 1906 in Munich's Oktoberfest, designed by Karl Gabriel. Here is a picture I scanned out of one of my ACE Magazines for use in one of my school presentations: If you look closely, it basically looks like a steel side friction coaster. Anyway, the park doesn't look that bad. I know you just started, but you could still add more detail to the park. -
Ok, I try to find out how to stream videos to TPR, but I can't find any info. I tried youtube, but I could never log in, it's some weird problem that's been happening at WWS and TN for myself. I don't get it, because I have found a way around it on TN and WWS, therefore I'm not banned from there, so I don't know what else to do. I'm also concerned because my video file sizes sometimes go over 100 MB because I simply don't know of a good video compression system.
