Probably the roughest coaster I have been on is Astroland's Cyclone... Predator hurts, but if you sit SECOND CAR, FIRST ROW (just so people will remember it) it actually isn't horrible, and you start to notice some of the airtime the ride has.

^ I thought they were to guard people from picking at the restraints, which I have seen done on a few coasters before. -
It's Münster Cheese, but its close enough. -Tanks "since I'm taking German I'm a stickler for grammatical errors" 4me05. Anyway, yeah Münster Cheese is good. To be honest, any kind of cheese (except Bleu, and even that I'll eat on some occasions) is awesome. But what is really fun, is to take a piece of every type of cheese I have in my fridge, and melt them all into one aweomse super cheese (I did it with 5 cheeses once, and it was goooooooooooooood.)

Coaster With the Worst Name?
Tanks4me05 replied to LingLing13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually think The Big One is actually not that bad of a name - seeing as Nukes and H - Bombs are referred to as "The Big One" (or Ones in that case) and since PMBO is still the largest coaster in England, the name seems fitting. Just in case you didn't know... -
I've been playing the Tuba for about four or five years now, and I'm actually one of the best in the county - I made first chair for All County last year, and the time I auditioned for All County (I think it was two years before that - I didn't do it in seventh grade because I didn't like the hours of the two rehearsals - 3 hours for one, and 6 for the other) On my NYSSMA solo last year (In New York State its where you get judged on a solo) I did a level 5 (out of 6) and I got a 95 out of 100. I was also to sight read (read a short piece of music I never saw before) and memorize over a dozen scales which the judge picked three at random. I'm now a rookie Sousaphone in the Baldwinsville Marching Band, and it's really fun, except our show isn't really good this year, and we haven't won a single first place trophy yet this year - and there's only one competition left for the season.

So, since TPR is back from Japan, is the contest still going to be held?

Although I'm happy it's not a clone, and the colors are interesting (not exactly like X, more of a blend of X and Georgia Scorcher, IMO) I'm thinking that B&M should put some different inversions into their Dive Machines instead of just Immelmanns. I know that they can't do much with the size of the trains, but maybe they could put something in like a vertical loop, dive loop, or even a Jo Jo Roll, (which would be kind of hard to support, but the forces would be minimal, and it would be insane!)

Twister II, can you post a link to download the scenery pack in which you used your benches for revamped walkway to the back of the park? They are of my highest interest because I have never found any custom benches with a futuristic look for my park that I'm trying to make. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Tanks4me05 replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, I'm pretty sure I have a VERY good reason as to why all "Past Vertical Coasters" have very short trains and a drop of barely past vertical: If anyone has ever tried making a full size train with a past vertical drop on NL past 100 degrees, it's VERY hard to keep the negative G's in check. My NL Hyper Coaster I'm working on has a drop height of about 280 feet - the first 81 feet are just to get the train to a drop angle of about 105 - 110 degrees. Now, the train length is 9 cars, (B&M Hyper Coaster Cars) and even with a 40 foot stretch of trim brakes at the top, with deceleration G's of 1.5 and a speed limit of 8 mph, the ride still pulls -1.6 G's in the back seat. So, if any ride has a past vertical drop, you are pretty much guaranteed, no matter how big the train is, to get major airtime in the back seat. -
SDC Galaxi Coasters. It took me until this year to finally raise my hands on the second drop on the one at Sylvan Beach (the only Galaxi I have ever been on, which I think I rode a little under 20 times.) BTW, Galaxis, or at least Sylvan Beach's Galaxi is pretty fun. It has surprisingly good airtime on the two drops, the helices are forceful, and if they removed one of the brakes at the end, it would have INSANE airtime over the bunny hop. If they removed all the brakes at the end, the wheel assemblies would probably snap in half and the train would go flying into the covered picnic area about 20 feet away.

The Official "TPR Japan Trip 2007" Thread
Tanks4me05 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally, I would keep the Japanese weirdness in Japan so they can have something unique that would make my 40 park dream trip to Japan worthwile. (Believe it or not, thay have about 120 or so operating parks.) Besides, there is only one Senyo Kogyo Coaster in North America... and it's in Mexico. But with a top speed of over 50 mph going right into some small hills (I would like to say about 30 feet tall) that thing should produce major airtime. -
Seabreeze in Rochester, NY home to the 87 year old Jack Rabbit, will receive two flat rides for the 2008 season from Wild West World - their Bertazzon Himalaya for $250,000 and their Moser Sidewinder for $425,000. I'm not entirely sure how thrilling the Bertazzon models are, and there's not a lot of room for these types of flat rides, as Seabreeze is a pretty small park. At least they are getting a thrilling flat ride. Their is a small plot of land right next to Whirlwind that would be perfect for an A.R.M. drop tower - they are not too tall, and probably not too expensive, and the one I went on at Cypress Gardens is INSANE. So hopefully they will add an A.R.M. Drop Tower in the near future, and hopefully a Eurofighter along with that. I'm happy to see this park still expanding. Could a Track Jumping Coaster Be Possible?
Tanks4me05 replied to Ccron10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Possible? Yes, only if there is some sort of super wieght distributor machine on the cars that keeps it from missing the track, or if it has small jets that keep it in line with the gap. Personally, I would go a different route: Simply make the track invisible. Within 25 years, the United States Army will issue Infantry Suits that not only are super effective against projectiles, but can magnify you strength greatly (try jumping 35 feet high without one of these babies) AND make you invisible - it has cameras (lots) studded around the body armor to display the image behind it, thus making it seem invisible. However, they are extremely expensive. So, all we have to do is wait for the technology to evolve to a point where there are cameras that can withstand several tons of force and weight (which such technoogy probably won't be developed for centuries) so yeah a gap coaster Thrillville: Off the Rails style is not feasible with today's technology. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Tanks4me05 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I was in line for Boomerang at TGE in 2006, two girls behind me had a conversation similar to this: Girl 1: "Is this one where you hang your feet from?" Girl 2: "Yeah, but they changed it because there was an accident." -
TPR 2008 Trips! Download the flyers here!

I would like to reiterate my next question: Are any parks in New York State planned to be in the East Coast Trip or as an addon? -

Tanks4me05 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey, specifically what days are you going to Hershey and Dorney? I can't go on the trip for many reasons (expenses and lack of family coaster enthusiasm the main reasons), but you are going roughly the same time I am going to those parks, so maybe I can do a "non extra stuff" meet up. Also, are you visiting any parks in New York State? If you are, or if someone on the trip is planning to do a New York State bonus trip, can you tell me when, so I can also possibly meet up there? -

Hmph. You lucky globetrotters get to prance all over the planet riding Balder and EGF 24/7. I'm stuck in this time zone (GMT-5) until I hit college, most likely later than that. -

^ Nicole, I have to say that RoS does have ejector airtime, and I went on SFNE's S:ROS, back seat, so I know what ejector airtime is. In fact, the intensity of the airtime on both coasters is quite similar, it's just that RoS simply doesn't have as many hills as S:ROS. Personally, after riding RoS about three months ago, I still think that although it is vibratey, it is still smooth. If anything, it makes the sense of speed a bit better. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

Ok, I did NOT expect this. But who's to say that I didn't want it? WOOHOO! FIRST EUROFIGHTERISH COASTER SOMEWHAT WITHIN MY REGION!!!!!!!!! W00T!!!! I might have a chance to ride both Intamin past vertical coasters this season. This may be not as visually impressive as a B&M Hyper, but still, this coaster looks sweet! Ok, the list of weird names for 2008 rides now stands at: Voodoo - Dorney Park Evil Knievel - Six Flags St. Louis Fahrenheit - Hersheypark -

I think we can call 2008 year of the weird coaster names. First Voodoo (although not bad) and now this.
