Nice PTR, however, I must say again that Predator is actually pretty good save fore a few spots when in the second car, first row. Everywhere else I agree is pretty bad. But if they get those new single bench PTC's, it might be comparable to Dania Beach Hurricane. (I'm not kidding)

What will you do when you can no longer ride coasters?
Tanks4me05 replied to TatsuTerror's topic in Ask Alvey
Well, the whole killing Texas thing I'm not worried about. I'm more worried about the huge dust cloud that it will kick up, blocking all sunlight, therefore a complete global agricultural failure would result, and since many animals we eat depend on plants, they will die, and then all the carnivorous animals we eat would die, so maybe fish would survive, but I still highly doubt that. So yeah, its starvation that I'm more worried about, which would most likely cause violent lootings so widespread that the military would be hard pressed to stop them. -
PTC Announces Single bench cars!!!

You needn't be dissappointed. I just got back from Pennsylvania, and I rode Wildcat yesterday, back seat, and other than the final turn, the ride was as painful as Lightning Racer (in other words, pretty much painless) It used to be my second least favorite wooden coaster, (I have been on 15) but now it is my #3 wooden coaster, the spot that Dania Beach Hurricane held since April. But to comment on PTC's trains - I pretty much have no opinion until I see pictures. -

How are the lines usually on a Sunday at the end of August/beginning of September? (That's when I'm going, the day after SFNE) -

This park is getting more attention! I am continually amazed. If you use the flash on your camera to take a picture on the inside of the Shooting Gallery, (next to the Gift Shops, near Laffland) every single target inside the shooting gallery will go off at the same time. It's really fun! -

I have a question: Would going to SFNE on a weekend at the end of August be a bad idea in terms of wait times? (I know I could have started another thread, but it seems relevant enough to this topic to me) -

^ I agree with you on the whole home made thing. That way you can put as much cheese on as you want, and as many tyes of cheeses. Or you could just melt a pound of cheese and eat it standalone. -

I posted a TR of the place before you were even a TPR member Actually, I technically have been a TPR member since February 2005, and if I remember correctly, that was only about a month or so after the forums were opened, but I was banned in March of 2005 because I was spamming up the forums as Tanks4me (Hey, this is the first forum I ever posted at, and well, I just didn't know how to post, and I didn't check the posts themselves for the warnings, because I thought I would just get a PM) So after about a year and a half of going to other forums, and knowing how to post, Robb finally let me back in. So, technically I am a TPR veteran. -Tanks "formerly the infamous Tanks4me" 4me05 -

All I can say is four things: 1: It's about time someone other than me posts a Trip Report about Sylvan Beach! (Yes, I am a big fan of the park, and easytoremember or someone else from coasterfuel will probably have something to say about that) 2: Other than the Tip Top, and Bomber's fencing (maybe Scrambler, also, but I can't remember) the park is in great condition, and I'm proud of it being my home park, because it has only one of 6 (around 6) Pretzel Dark Rides remaining, and it has a great 1940's feel that I'm not sure any park can compare to, not even Kennywood or Knoebels, which seem to be a "mix" of eras. Phantom's Revenge, and Twister, although great looking rides, and perfect for the parks they are in, they are not really from decades past, however, pretty much everything at Sylvan Beach is, (they are going to get a Double Ferris Wheel!) So, yeah, I tend to get really mad at people who call this place ghetto. 3: Eddie's Restaurant, only a couple hundred feet away form Sylvan Beach, is a pretty good restaurant, at least in my opinion. It, once again, has that Art Deco Feel, and has Dessert/Soda Fountain. 4: The park looks pretty neat at night, when you see all the Neon Lights on. -
Oh, I forgot Okeechobee Rampage, Flying Unicorn and Swamp Thing. Once again, all of them are smooth except for Swamp Thing, and Okeechobee Rampage has some good forces, a great family coaster. The only complaint I have for Swamp Thing is that it is basically an Okeechobee Rampage clone, except it is an Inverted Coaster. (The trains are pretty bad, also)
-
I solved the problem! (For those who have the same problem, you should read this) First, I copied the "front half" of the Impulse, and replaced on to the premade Wicked Twister's front spike. Then, I created the back half as a standalone element, made a 180 degree turn (didn't bother to smooth it, because it isn't needed in the final coaster) and made a "forwards facing copy" of the back half. I did that because you can not add to the rear of the Purple Starting Cone or whatever that is called. To make the forwards facing copy, simply make some track and align it in side view so it looks like they both overlap perfectly. Then, I saved the forwards facing copy, and added some track on to the front spike so it was parallel to the station, like the turnaround. Then I inserted the forwards facing copy, and I made the station length much more than it needs to be, so that extra track would be used for the back half. I split up the track as carefully as possible (multiple times) to keep the station the same length, and then transformed the extra track into normal track pieces. Then I realigned the rear track with the forwards facing copy, and the back spike looked almost exactly as the original, and it worked.
-
For some reason, I can not get my Impulse Coaster to stop in the station. It launches seven times, then as the launch section slows the train down, it doesn't stop in the station fully. It goes up the rear spike just a small amount, and then it stops in the station with a few of the cars not in the station, and the restraints are sticking up. I rarely make Shuttle Coasters on NL, so I'm not sure what to do. What should the station and launch settings be?

For the Vekomas I have been on (Darien Lake's Boomerang, Hersheypark's Sidewinder, The Great Escape's Boomerang, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, and Darien Lake's Mind Eraser) all but Mind Eraser are smooth, and even Mind Eraser isn't that bad.

^ Predator just opened less than a week ago. I never went to Canada's Wonderland, but I have tips for DL (most of the parks in upstate New York, actually) I suggest riding Predator in either the second row, first car, or first row second car, which I heard was the smoothest when it was last opened. I also suggest to ride in the back of Ride of Steel. I don't care if that ride was rattling a lot, it had a much better sense of speed on the straight sections, and the ride still has amazing airtime in the back. Viper is actually pretty smooth, and so is Boomerang, even in the back, and once you realize that the G's on Boomerangs reach 5.2, you will probably appreciate them more. Mind Eraser and Tin Lizzy's are the only rides in the park with lines over 20 minutes on a regular basis, with lines at about 40 minutes or longer. You could spend the whole day there if you want (but I usually ride the coasters and most flat rides multiple times) but you could still ride all the major stuff in a few hours.

^ That blue Spiral Slide looks like the former Wipeout Slides (there were two mirrored slides) at Seabreeze. I really miss those slides, they were INSANE! I don't know why they would replace it with a tame (Tube Version) Cannon Bowl. -

The only thing I won't ride are Shoot the Chutes because I saw the last of the people being evacuated from Hershey's 2003 Tidal Force incident, and it scared me from riding any of them. -

Two things: 1: Laser is leaving?!?!?! I thought that was just a rumor from last year and before! 2: Hydra isn't forceless in the back row. I agree the intensity could be higher, (which raising the lift 10 or 20 feet could probably help a lot, but sadly that won't happen) but it isn't that bad in the back seat. [/rant] (Yes, my main pet peeves are when someone bashes Hydra or Hercules, which I am one of the few people that is a fan of both) I don't get it, it looked like Steel Venom could fit there without taking out Laser, assuming that's where it is going to eventually go through. -

This is the last set of pictures, Adventure Island. The last park of the trip, Adventure Island. The park was really nice, but this speed slide needed a steeper drop. This slide was fun. The first of its kind I ever saw. This photo is also one of my favorites. Why? Because the white slide is called Aruba TUBA. In fact, Aruba Tuba is worth to be shown twice in a row. Like I said, the park was really nice. This "Tub Slide" was really weird, but it broke down while I was in line, so I didn't go on it. I should have, because it looks really fun. Interesting canyon theming. This is probably the largest slide in the park, but I didn't go on it, because I wasn't really happy that day for some reason. The "Diving Slides" as I call them. The weird Speed Slide again. Another Aruba Tuba shot. Caribbean Corkscrew is my favorite slide at the park. I should have gone on these, they looked like a clone of Seabreeze's former Wipeout slides, which were insane. Why does this look like a Japanese park? Looking up at Riptide. There's Calypso Coaster, but I like this pic because Aruba Tuba is in it. The giant bucket didn't create one large splash, but multiple smaller splashes every few seconds. I don't know what this slide is. No more photos, but I'll start uploading the videos within a few days. -

The Busch Gardens Africa pictures are finally up! Montu, the best B&M ever! If you look hard, you can see Kumba. If you look really hard, you can see Montu. If you look really really hard, you can see Gwazi. SheiKra... AT SUNSET! SheiKra... AT SUNSET... AGAIN! SheiKra... AT SUNSET... AGAIN... AGAIN! See what I mean by Montu being so awesome? This thing pulls amazing G's all over the place! This is my favorite picture in the entire PTR. Why? Because there is a Tuba in the pic. Yes, I play the Tuba, and the Tuba is superior to all other instruments! LONG LIVE THE TUBA! Grrrr! I'm angry Tiger! Gimme some candy! Montu... THROUGH THE TREES! The most photogenic element of Montu, the Immelmann. See? Montu... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! Semi sihlouette shot Another semi sihlouette shot. Three Semi Sihlouette shots in a row. That's the Immelmann again. My favorite element of the ride, the Batwing! For some reason, it looks like I'm going to fall backwards. The Immelmann... THROUGH THE TREES! Hi Wes. Kill! Kill! Montu... THROUGH THE TREES! The Monkeys have returned! (Reference to an unreleased segment of last year's DVD) Monkeys! (Technically a Lemur) Monkey eating Lettuce. Monkey eating Lettuce again. If I were that Monkey, I would be tired of eating Lettuce. Montu is better. But the Immelmann was fun. Montu... OVER THE TREES! Montu... OVER THE TREES... EXTREME CLOSE UP! My favorite picture of the entire trip. It was closed for most of the morning, and opened in the afternoon, and despite the nearing hour long wait, it was worth it. Hi Derek. SheiKra and Sandstorm. The "Orbiter" style ride at the NY State Fair was although unthemed, much better than this one. I know there were air battles over Africa in WWII, but the plane ride seemed really out of place in the park. The Frenzoid, on the other hand, fit perfectly. Hershey's Wild Mouse is way better than this one. This ride was trimmed like crazy. Gwazi Lion was closed, but Tiger was much smoother than I expected, and is now my #5 wooden coaster. That's Phoenix, my first Frenzoid. I didn't know that was there. Read on to read a caption so amazing, so unbelievable, that you will want to read on to read the rest of this caption. The caption of this photo is... SheiKra and Scorpion. There's something about Busch Gardens Africa and photogenic Immelmanns. SheiKra... THROUGH THE TREES AND A SEMI SIHLOUETTE SHOT! There's the Fan Turn. This ride always created the illusion of looking 130 feet tall, not 200 feet tall. I'm on a train, taking a picture of a train. I don't know why this ride is underrated. It's just like a mini Laser, but with AIRTIME at the top of the loop. Random Log Flume shot. Another Montu shot. Random Zebra, and Montu again. Kumba... THROUGH THE TREES! Kumba's Cobra Roll. (Yes, best caption ever, I know) I think that's the Cobra Roll. SheiKra, the Log Flume, and Python could have been in this picture, but instead, its SheiKra, the Log Flume, and an Excavator. This is a bit better. Those people on top of the Immelmann are experiencing a moment of airtime. The Spaghetti Knot picture of SheiKra. The Fan Turn again. The drop is big, but it doesn't produce much airtime. There's the ending helix. They could have done more with the layout, like adding another helix there, but this ride is expensive. The Fan Turn with a building under it. Gwazi... UNDER SHEIKRA! This ride looks awesome! A train dropping... EXTREME CLOSE UP! The Spaghetti Knot section... EXTREME CLOSE UP! Robb, I would appreciate if you would not ban me again since I mentioned Knott's. Lion is closed. But Tiger was running, and it was awesome! That's all of the Busch Gardens Africa pictures. Next up, the last set of pictures: Adventure Island. -

Ok, I finally got around to posting the pics for Cypress Gardens, I didn't know that Photobucket automatically saved the photos you uploaded into the album, which saved a lot of time. Welcome to Cypress Gardens! There's the Flying Island Thing. Obligatory (but old) Starliner Construction shot. Okeechobee Rampage was surprisingly forceful, and all the coasters at the park except for Galaxy Spin ran the circuit twice. Open, now. Once again, I was surprised that this ride is forceful. Some floater airtime on the hills, and the turns were pretty forceful, too. The turn of forcefulness. The only thing that this one has over Seabreeze's Yo Yo is that it tilts. Galaxy Spin... THROUGH THE TREES! Grrrrrrr! I'm angry Yo Yo! Gimme some candy! Yep, this ride is cool. Is this a Dan approved water ride? I'm not sad and pathetic. Galaxy Spin... THROUGH THE SUPPORTS! Mega Bounce=Painful. Pharaoh's Fury= Boring. Swamp Thing= Painful and boring. Yeah, welcome to Cypress Gardens. The Drop Tower was the surprise of the trip. I thought it was going to be like MFI's Drop Tower (which wasn't bad, but not the best) but this thing was INSANE! Especially when you looked down as it dropped. The Drop Tower rules! This ride has an unbelievable amount of airtime! Blurry Tilt - A - Whirl shot. Galaxy Spin... EXTREME CLOSE UP! Some random rides. Some more random rides. My first Disk - O. Sigh, Power Surge is closed. This is one fun ride! Ferris Wheel... THROUGH THE TREES! A clearer Tilt - A - Whirl shot. Even more of some random rides. You do not see many Double Deck Carousels that often. Inverter... EXTREME CLOSE UP! An overview of some of the park from Flying Island. An overview of the rest of the park from the Flying Island. Next up, Busch Gardens Africa! -
^ Well, on most forums it's rarely talked about. Maybe because it is Darien Lake - the park that hasn't gotten a coaster since 1999. I didn't know it was that good. I didn't know that Darien Lake had something that can compete with other coasters in the world. I knew it was good, but not that good.
