Grullin - No Limits 1.6
Tanks4me05 replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Here are some more pictures for all of those who want more. Here is the pre lift section. This is the Isihlg Turn, which is an acronym for the "I'm surprised it had low G's turn". This is nearing the end of the ride. The helix took me forever to create it correctly without causing Tunnel Test failures. -

I apologize for the double post, but Grullin is finished! Grullin is a Wooden Roller Coaster that was made primarily to do two things: To have extremely unique elements, and a completely wild pacing, which it fulfills both. The statistics: Height: Approximately 177 feet Largest Drop: 142 feet (The first drop is a really twisted double down) Length: 6,107 feet Top Speed: 69 miles per hour Maximum Vertical G Forces: 5.3 (It only goes that high once, for a split second, and Vekoma Boomerangs have G's of 5.2, so I let it slide) Maximum Lateral G Forces: 1.8 (Since I saw some highly rated Wooden Roller Coasters with 1.8 lateral G's, I use that as a limit) Moments of airtime: 15 Grullin.nltrack Grullin - A truly wild ride. -

Believe it or not, those Tree Skirt things are really path borders from Aceana's Pavement ESSENTIALS Packs 1. All you do is place four Marble Border Corners into one tile, and rotate each one ninety degrees from the last one. I found that the link is available in Themeparkreview's Scenery Pack directory, and download it from one of the first two links you see at the top. It isn't the same pack, but it's an updated version. -
Well, I am making a new park. I don't have a name for it yet, but I'm calling it Project Ramp because the entrance looked like a ramp when it was in the beginnings of construction. Now all I have finished is the entrance, but I have spent several weeks on it, and I feel it is some of my best work yet. Anyway, here are some pictures: Here we are, walking up to the entrance of the park. Here are some gardens. Here are some Water Slides I am using for fountains, which is very useful. Here is one of the two symmetrical Glass Enclosed Mini Waterfalls. Here is the inside of one of the "Waterfall Buildings". They even have boulders inside. Here is a nice view from an observation bridge that is on top of the entrance. This is the inside of the Entrance. This is the rear of the entrance, seen from what will eventually be the main midway. Here are the gardens behind the entrance, where there is also a bridge with waterslides cleverly disguised as fountains underneath.

What Are Your "Coaster Goals" For 2007?
Tanks4me05 replied to jappi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have several parks that are definite for this year: (Wahoo, it is 12:16 AM as I write this) 1: Boomers (Dania)* 2: Rapids Water Park 3: Cypress Gardens* 4: Busch Gardens Africa* 5: Adventure Island* (Parks 1 - 5 are all in one trip) 6: Knoebels* 7:Hersheypark 8: Seabreeze 9: Sylvan Beach 10: New York State Fair 11: Six Flags New England* Parks that are in the realm of possibility, and I hope to go to: 1: Astroland 2: Deno's Amusement Park* (Just in case it goes also) 3: Lake Compounce* Parks marked with a * are parks I have not been to before. I also plan to raise my coaster count to 85 or higher, which it is currently at 61, therefore hopefully getting my track record to 100 by 2008 or 2009. - Tanks "Wahoo, it is 2007!" 4me05 -
I think I will contradict that. Viper is pretty darn smooth. The restraints are not the best, but the track is smooth. Even with the restraints, I can easily ride it multiple times in a row without getting a head ache. I have ridden a few B&M's and Intamins so I know what a really smooth coaster can be. Roughest Steel Coaster I have been on: Mantis at CP (But it is still my #6 Steel Coaster. It throws me around a lot, but it's not so bad that I won't ride it) Roughest wood coaster: Cyclone at Astroland (I'm going down to Astroland this summer anyway to ride everything down there one last time)

Yeah, Silver Comet is probably one of the best Wooden Coasters in the state, with its insane laterals on the "Death Turn" nearing the end of the ride, and fun airtime in some places. Although I think the other Comet at the opposite end of the state is better, this one is still pretty darn good. To be honest, Dare Devil wasn't as bad as I thought. It hurt the first time I went on it, but I wasn't prepared for the launch. The second time was virtually painless, and it wasn't that bad. Sure I would definitely like to see an S&S Drop Tower in its place, which is much better in my opinion. However, it is not nearly as bad as other people claim it to be. (Maybe I just can tolerate pain a lot more than other people, seeing as Hercules is my #5 wood coaster, and Mean Streak is #4) Anyways, it’s a pretty fun park. But beware, the Wave Pool is freezing. My hands and feet went close to a light shade of purple, so don't stay in there too long.

Knex Contest!
Tanks4me05 replied to phazan's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, I just finished Gravity about a week or two ago, I might want to enter that. However, it uses WD40 on the wheels and Pledge Anti Dust Spray on the rails as Lubricants. Can I still enter with those Lubricants applied? -
Well, I am quite impressed with this ride. A nice compact layout with some airtime hills thrown in there. (Yes, I did see some hills). For some reason, it looks vaguely like a mix between Kentucky Rumbler and Mean Streak. I haven't been on Kentucky Rumbler, but who's to say I don't like Mean Streak?

^^No, you are not the only one. That small portion of track with the Skate Ramp thing under it was an interesting idea, and if they themed it more with similar structures, and of better quality than the rotating Tony Hawk statues, it would be a cool looking ride. As for this ride being a clone, since Six Flags New England is about 1,968.1 miles away from Six Flags Fiesta Texas, (according to Map quest) I'm not too ticked off about them being clones of each other. I'll probably go to Six Flags New England for the first time next summer anyway, so I'll be able to form an opinion on whether cloning Pandemonium was a good idea or not when I ride it.

Micro Park Challenge
Tanks4me05 replied to xascher's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^If I remember correctly, you either save it to My Documents/RCT3/Parks, My Documents/RCT3/Scenarios, or My Documents/RCT3/Start New Scenarios. Personally, I really wish the Expansion Packs would be allowed. I can do so much more with all those extra rides and scenery packs. I always felt just plain Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 seemed a little limited in terms of rides and scenery. -
Gravity
Tanks4me05 replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Progress on Gravity's construction will be on hold for about a week because I ran out of the right pieces, and I need to order more. However, I am almost done! All I have left is the second half of this inversion that I'm making, a 540 degree helix, and possibly even some brakes at the end. Anyway, here are some pictures: As you see, I progressed rather quickly. With the WD40 it just barely makes it over one of the elements, so I will use the Pledge Anti Dust Spray on the rails when I finish the construction phase. Here is another view of Gravity. Since the first half of the Cutback seemed fine to me, I tried smoothing out the second half of the Cutback. I call this portion of the ride the "Spaghetti Knot" for obvious reasons. Here is the Airplane Dive. I named it that because it reminds me of Rye Playland's Airplane Coaster for some reason. Here is the BRV Roll (short for Bent Reverse Vector Roll). The only other time I made this inversion was in one of my No Limits Coasters. -
Hey, someone actually agrees with me on Viper being smooth! To be honest, all of Six Flags Darien Lake's coasters are under - rated. I may just be a Darien Lake fan boy, but it really is a fun place. Viper is smooth, even in the back seat of the yellow train (which is supposedly the "rougher train"). Mind Eraser wasn't unbearable, nor was Boomerang or Predator. Superman just has ejector airtime all over the place, when in the back seat of the blue train. So what if the helices are large? They are pretty forceful, and you really have a sense of speed, as does the straight section. However, I believe our dear departed Hercules is probably the most under - rated roller coaster of all time. I was amazed at the massive 151 foot drop and the thunderous pace at which it traveled through that turn over the lake. The ride was unique, fun, and huge. It will be missed.

Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
Tanks4me05 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I do like the "shakiness" on wooden coasters also, but sometimes, the track deteriorates to a point where it hurts really bad. I rode Astroland's Cyclone back in 2005, and it is tied with Hersheypark's Wild Cat as the roughest roller coasters I have been on. It was almost too much pain to bear, but still I went on it two or three times. Actually, I like only a slight amount of pain on the wooden coasters, like The Great Escape's Comet, and it seems to make the pacing seem a little more wild than it really is. (Or maybe its pacing really is that wild). Anyway, although I have never been to Geauga Lake before, I do hope Villain will be smoother, because it looks like a great ride. -
Gravity
Tanks4me05 replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, I finally got those extra K'nex sets a few days ago, and I added a Speed Hill and a Cutback. The train doesn't make it over the Cutback, but luckily, I have two extra boosters, and I'll probably use WD40 on the wheel assembly. Anyway, I have some more pictures: Here is the Cutback. I know it is kind of under supported, but it holds up fine, and I will add more pieces when I see how much I have left over once Gravity is finished. (Two extra K'nex sets seems a lot smaller, in terms of pieces, than I expected). Here is the Speed Hill. Luckily, I accidentally made a straight section right before the Speed Hill, which gave me a much easier place to put the next Booster. Well, I once again removed too many vital supports while I was making the Cutback, so the entire coaster collapsed a fourth time. However, it fell apart in chunks, so I was able to repair it in only about two hours, which led myself to build the much sturdier "Rear Tower Support" you see here. Here is a better look at the Cutback, where I am using some very unusual support building strategies. But it works, so I'm keeping it. I love these pictures. This is the interior of one of the Main Support Towers of the Cutback. -
Well, I'm going to Florida next April for Boomers, Rapids, Cypress Gardens, Busch Gardens Africa, and Adventure Island. The only one I have been to before is Rapids Water Park, so I would appreciate any tips for the other parks. (What to ride first, where in the park to eat, how to avoid lines, and stuff like that)
-
Yes! Another Euro - Fighter! I always hoped someone would revive the Cutback; it always looked like a promising, unique inversion, and requiring little space. Personally, I think the layout looks awesome, with that tiny helix next to the loop, but more importantly, the Cutback. - Tanks "Yes, the Cutback is back!" 4me05

Grullin - No Limits 1.6
Tanks4me05 replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^It's a little less compact than I had in my head, but I had to make one of the helix things that you can't really see a lot wider because there was a pretty darn bad track collision. At least the pacing is maintained quite well for pretty much the entire ride, which was my main goal for Grullin. -
Grullin - No Limits 1.6
Tanks4me05 replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, I made some progress, but I'm only going to post two teaser pics. Here is a speed hill. It's only 30 feet high, and you go through it at 55 miles per hour. On the first drop you see here, first you drop about 130 feet, level off, and then drop down another 40 feet or so, resulting in a nice twisting double down with a huge amount of G's - lateral and airtime. (They are still within reason) -
Well, I finally worked on it, and it is almost done! I just have a few more buildings to make, and I will be done. However, I took very little pictures of those, so they will probably be the least accurate of all buildings in the game. Anyway, I have more screenshots: Here is the far end of the park. The Ferris Wheel is supposed to be a Rock - O - Plane, and it is more stretched out (the length of this portion of the park) than it should be, but it won't work any other way. Here is Tip Top, the "Small Carrousel", and Tilt - A - Whirl. The Round Up is the closest ride possible I found to a Tip Top. Here is a better view of Tilt - A - Whirl. The building in the center with the plants in front of it would be the Bumper Cars. Here is the interior of the Bumper Cars building. I believe it is quite accurate, if I do say so myself.

2nd time not such a charm?
Tanks4me05 replied to canada's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only ride that this happened to me was on Trailblazer at Hersheypark. The first time I rode it, I thought it was really fun, but that was back in 2000, and I never rode anything that size before. The next time I rode it three years later, the line was about an hour long, it was hot out, and I was pretty bored by it. (I rode Thunderhawk, our dear departed Hercules, the day before and Sooperdooperlooper a couple hours before my "re ride") It was kind of slow, and there was only one mildly thrilling element. I might have been moderately enthused by it if the line wasn't so long, in my opinion it's not worth more than a 20 minute wait unless you are really desperate. -
The 2006 Six Flags Agenda
Tanks4me05 replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I would have to disagree for Six Flags Darien Lake being bad. Maybe I just went on a good day, but I really liked it. Predator, Mind Eraser, Grizzly River Run, and the Log Flume (whatever it is called now) were all closed, but Mind Eraser and the Log Flume were down temporarily, not more than an hour or two. There was obvious track work being done on Predator, although I couldn't see anything being done on Grizzly, I didn't look at it really extensively. Superman: Ride of Steel and Viper were running two trains, (the lines for the front and back of Superman: Ride of Steel hadn't gone above twenty or thirty minutes) and Viper was pretty much a walk on. Mind Eraser, however, was the only real complaint I had during the day, where it was running only one train, and the ride ops seemed to unload slowly. So, the line was about 40 - 45 minutes, but it probably could have been as low as 10 or 15 minutes if they had quicker staff and that extra train going through the course. Also, there was a patch of pavement behind this fast food place near Mind Eraser that needed some repair. Also, Big Kahuna could have been running faster, because the line was thirty minutes long, only with the queue line up to the top two flights of stairs. However, I don't know if those types of slides normally have low capacity. I didn't feel like riding any slides that day, anyway. (I left the queue line of Big Kahuna half way through because I really wanted to go back to Superman) Also, the Poland Springs Plunge was broken down for a while, but that eventually was up and running, and a couple of rows in the fascination booth were down. But the bathrooms were clean, the rides were running great, relatively small lines for most of the rides, an overall nice experience. So, 2 rides closed for renovation, 2 rides that closed briefly, a patch of pavement in need of repair, queue lines for one slide and one coaster longer than they should be, and two or three Fascination rows out of order. They are all pretty much minor problems, so I did see an improvement. Viper was smooth, and it really was not all that painful (the back seat of the Yellow train). Even the back seat of Mind Eraser wasn't unbearable. Boomerang was quite smooth, only slightly rough in the back seat. Viper even produced some floater air time on the pre drop, which was unexpected. Superman had a bit of a rattle to it, but personally, I liked it. I could sense the speed more on the straight section, making it more enjoyable. The back seat of the blue train in the morning produces amazing airtime on the first drop, and the back seat on any train at pretty much any time of the day gave a huge amount of airtime on the hills. I saw a few costumed characters going through the park, which although there should have been more, was a nice improvement. So overall, I rode a large amount of stuff there, and it was actually pretty fun. Maybe I'm being nice to Six Flags Darien Lake because it is one of my home parks and Predator started my obsession, but I generally had a really good day there. I also went to The Great Escape a few weeks earlier, and it was very nice. Well shaded, fun atmosphere, and some of the most photogenic rides I've ever seen in person because of the mountainous surroundings. The only rides that were closed were Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon, the Trabant, and the Rainbow. I was depressed that I didn't get to ride New York State's only Schwarzkopf coaster, and my first ever Rainbow, but at least there was Comet. (Also, it was my first ACE event ever, which I had a great time) The ride ops were efficient, and all the lines were short, except for Canyon Blaster, which the line was thirty five minutes, and Alpine Bobsled's line was about twenty five minutes, and Boomerang had a line of about twenty minutes early in the day, but the line went down to ten or fifteen minutes at night. Boomerang is probably the most photogenic coaster I have ever seen in person, because of all the nice scenery all around, and the mountains really helped. That Boomerang, was also smooth. I noticed the costumed characters sporadically roaming through the park, and I had an overall fun experience. I really liked it there. Trees almost everywhere, quite clean, the coasters ran great, Comet especially during the ERT in the back seat. However, the only disappointing ride there was the Huss Condor they have. There was basically no swinging, and you started your descent almost as soon as you got to the top. Unlike Hersheypark's model, where the swinging was nearing ninety degrees and you were up in the air for several minutes. However, the park served well as a family park. There were shows at various places in the park, and overall, like Six Flags Darien Lake, I had a really good time. However, the worst thing at both parks was the food, drink and extra charge attraction prices, which I thought were just unreasonable. But, that was my first time to The Great Escape, so I don't have any previous visits to compare it to. Overall, I think Shapiro still could have done more with the two Six Flags parks I visited this year, the improvements I did see were nice, and I think Shapiro improved these parks well. Somewhat. It was enjoyable, but they still need to be improved a lot. It is a good start, though.
