It's 3 hours vs 2 hours. I'll get there eventually! It looks like a great 3 day break from the city life honestly.

Appreciate it everyone! With Chicago having two airports there's an option to fly virtually anywhere. So all mentioned airports are possible. If Labor Day doesn't workout, another weekend will given the park's extended hours going into the fall months. The biggest question is wether or not to take advantage of being in the area and hit up Hershey as well. This will all come together soon..

Each time I've gotten a FP, it was a trip to Goliath first and then FP HQ. I've only waited about 10-15 minutes. Have never encountered this movie before, and I've never pre-purchased. Joker looks to be closer than Goliath, but the FP HQ is in the middle of the park and it's shaped like an oval so there aren't really any short cuts unless you want to grab a quick Whizzer ride then get FP. https://static.sixflags.com/website/files/sfgam_park-map.pdf The biggest pain to avoid is getting into the park. You need to get there early because lines will build and it often can take 30+ minutes to get into the park. Also, go to Timothy O'Toole's across from the park for food/drinks. Glad I encouraged your first post since signing up Thanks! It makes sense that would be the case. Valleyfair looks like a good park and the fact that there's a water park attached is another win. Minnie looks like a great city for coasters!

Great Adventure probably edges out Hershey for top of the bucket list. I've been researching ways to get to the park without renting a car, but it looks like renting a car is the way to go. I keep forgetting how many coasters this park has! And ontop of that the flat collection + whole animal part. Kinda reminds me a bit of the old Kings Island that had an 'Animal Kingdom' esque section with monorail and all. Would Trenton be the closest airport to the park?

I'm considering a trip up to the Twin Cities over Labor Day since it'd be a cheap vacation. How're crowds on the weekends? Long enough to warrant a FP? I'd be going over Labor Day weekend and I know the state fair will be going on; was wondering if it'd be the main pull instead of Valleyfair.

Awesome report! Gives me flashbacks to the TPR Texas trip with the Sea World + SFFT combo. I'm seriously considering a quick trip to SFFT for Iron Rattler... did you stay at a hotel near the park that you recommend?

First park you hate to love: SDC I love it so much but it's hard to accept that I can only visit once every couple years due to location + cost to get there.

This park just keeps getting better and better each year. I think it's the top park on my bucketlist for the USA.

Justice, the XX, Head and the Heart, Glass Animals, Run the Jewels, and Alt J were highlights of my weekend. Justice was one of the wildest shows I've been to. The energy, pace, and lighting package were out of this world.

Every now and then I read tripadvisor forums, and the typical hot threads in Chicago are "Got this sweet airbnb deal...wait is this close to millennium park?" And they're down in Englewood or North Garfield in the zone. Love Google transit, though. It'll make your life so easy in a new city.

They're getting a bit liberal with the term "stall". I took a look back through the layout looking for a stall ala Twisted Colossus or Goliath, but they're referring to the weird Drachen Fire esque 180* inversion.

All of their coasters have looked like batshit crazy NoLimits creations and this is no exception. Following the construction is going to be really fun. Really, he described the ride experience is going to be "edgy"? Thatsa what them young hips wanna hear. Should have called it Six Flag's edgiest coaster. Wait no that's superman. It lives on the edge.

You made a good decision because Black Widow has strongggg firsbee airtime, swings higher than most, and makes you feel like you're being tossed into the ravine, haha. Awesome report, Kennywood is such a fun and unique park. Promantis is a must, glad you loved that place. Garfield is truly a nightmare

That is hilarious. What is up with Tennessee wildlife? If it's not snakes, it's cicadas (Cicadae? Cicadi?). You'd think a rattlesnake fell in your lap with how loud they are and how hard they hit you flying at full speed. They're pretty bad in the midwest this year....I believe we're approaching the massive 17 year swarm. If you don't know what I'm talking about look it up, I'm not kidding

Yes you need one. Lollapalooza is this weekend, so there will be a big draw to downtown which..might? Lighten up crowds? If you want multiple rides on the major coasters you need a FP. Get there early to get in past security since it can be a shit show. I'd pick Joker, JL, or Goliath to go to first so you have a 0 wait in the morning, then get FP right after.
