  1. Unless you're going to get a 2018 Platinum pass (which gets you 1 visit free this year) that's the best I saw, too. I think I'm going to use that VF Cares for Friday's visit. I'm lucky to make it up once a year, so a season pass wouldn't be worth it for me. But, I was there today and had a lot of fun. The crowds were small so I had very short waits on most rides. I was surprised to see people bothering to get Fast Lane passes. The only rides with a wait were my first ride on the Power Tower and first ride on Renegade. The Power Tower had a skeleton crew and they were adding the second train to Renegade. I did end up riding many rides twice. Renegade is by far my favorite now, it's built for constant speed. I use to really like Excalibur, but this time it was almost too rough. I think the High Roller's structure needs some maintenance. I know some movement and swaying is probably normal, but there seemed to be a lot. North Star was fun and provides an excellent view. I managed to ride it twice. It did briefly rain in the later afternoon which caused them to shut down Mad Mouse and water park slides, but nothing else. When I was on the High Roller I noticed a sign and props for Beserkers, I first thought it was maybe a sign of a new ride, but now that I think about it I believe it's related to Haunt. Everything appeared to be running, nothing down for maintenance. I have a few pictures to post, but I'll probably do that tomorrow when I'm less lazy. Awesome thanks for the details! Gets me pumped for tomorrow and the lack of crowds is encouraging. VF people - does the topspin get you wet/always have water running? I saw it running fountains in a video but it never showed if it hits the gondola.
  2. I haven't been on Cyclone since 2010, and I had some really good rides on it! No doubt they are making this conversion for a reason, though. That elongated sideways airtime hill??? Whew, I'm sweatin'. I see a bit of Wildfire ( sideways hill) Mean Streak (the twisted roll in and out of the first turn) and Iron Rattler with that first drop. IR gets tons of praise for the first drop, so I'm excited for this ride. Guys, there's still an old wooden coaster on the other side of the park that'll satisfy that craving!
  3. Absolutely! Like this name/theme a lot better than yet another Harley Quinn Spinsanity like Texas is doing. I better hear some, "BOOYAH's" from the riders! Booyah! This crazy awesome. Great Adventure just keeps on winning. So happy to see these come to the states.
  4. Any flat is better than that low grade top spin that was there before. The cycle was incredibly short, the transitions were awkward and clunky, and the restraints were not comfortable. Hope the GP eats up this new "coaster" lmao.
  5. The trains look great; just the level of detail to expect when Disney brings a movie to life. I've been really behind on this project and I'm really impressed with how the coaster is turning out. Should be a fun ride for kids and adults!
  6. Unless you're going to get a 2018 Platinum pass (which gets you 1 visit free this year) that's the best I saw, too. I think I'm going to use that VF Cares for Friday's visit.
  7. Valleyfair! and Mall of America on Friday. It'll be an adventure of a day getting up early to fly from Chicago to Minnie and arrive at VF by opening. The Minnesota state fair likely has a credit or two I'll find this weekend if I have time before the Phantogram show.
  8. A hot dog costing more than a burger? Maybe they're trying to raise profits for that RMC raptor or whatever the latest rumor is. New for 2018: put your coins in the plastic funnel and watch them disappear!
  9. Plants v Zombies is a fun attraction. I had never played any of the games before, so all of the characters were new to me. It was easy to play and the pre show video with crazy Dave was pretty funny!
  10. Can you please take your positivity elsewhere? People are trying to bitch. OMG I am dying. That is the best Billism yet. That made my day. Bill it's cool, you'll have enough bitching to cover me after you return from your Great America trip.
  11. Officially visiting next Friday and I'm pretty stoked! Excalibur has been on my "weird coaster" bucket list since I've ridden Gemini and an impulse with a holding brake has been a priority, too. The water park looks nice as well. Per advice, I'm holding off on FL and to be honest I don't think I'll need it after reading through the thread. Uber seems like the way to get there from the airport since public trans is 3 buses and over an hour. (Getting in at 9AM and heading straight to the park) The park has an offer for $35 dollar admission Aug 21 through Sept 1 which is a great deal. I thought about doing the 2018 Plat Pass + 1 Free admission but Kings Island costs more for a 1 day admission and I have a feeling I'll make a stop there later this year. If there's a cheaper ticket option let me know. Any "don't miss this" advice that people often skip? I was looking through the park index and was sad to see the log flume is no longer living. The credit run route looks pretty obvious with the mouse and impulse in the mix. Fingers crossed for decent weather!
  12. Honestly the decline appears so gradual, it looks like clunking down a sidewalk with a couple garden hoses providing the water
  13. Can we please spend whatever the cost is on re-theming Volcano to a giant Christmas tree and the trains to Santa's sleds? Throw some green and red lights on those supports...f'n smart. Call me, KD
  14. It's always a nail biter opening up a Dollywood report Glad you got on the ride and enjoyed the first visit! It's rush a refreshing change compared to the norm
  15. Splashin' Safari is one amazing park. Wildebeest really set the bar when it comes to a memorable water coaster. That shed drop! Sad to hear a consistent trend about Voyage being so rough in the back half of the season. The ride is stellar when it's just: aggressive".
  16. I'm a fan of top spins, but not Great America's type. Good riddance. Plesse continue to upgrade our old and busted flats. A Discovery would be a welcomed change over the current inner facing disk.
  17. Great report! Everything you talked about sells me on why it's one of the best parks in the chain. They have so many coasters I tend to forget about Bizarro, Mine Train, Joker..
  18. Wooo this trip report keeps on going! What's awesome is that we share the same "surprises" even though my visit was in 2009 and yours was 2017. Shockwave's insane ejector air The "hidden" launch on Mr. Freeze Single row seating on Vibora The weird restraints on Runaway Mtn. I really want to revisit this park as it's got a charm to it, a great collection of coasters, and flat rides. This park has really made an argument for being best in the chain.
  19. I will be there early and often in 2018!!
  20. It was great seeing you at your home park three years ago. Time for you to make the journey east to mine! I don't know what parks you've been to but maybe you should do a mini-East Coast trip next year. That was an awesome time! I haven't really...ever done a East coast trip. I've just completed my first NE visit, so I totally need to do an East coast trip. KD has been a park that warrants a visit even without a RMC! 305 looks amazing and ever since KI lost Tomb Raider, KDs looks like the next best thing.
  21. I'd love to see a few shots here and there because of the unique perspective but wouldn't want a full TR of them.
  22. RMC tracks have those bolts on both sides of the rail but the wheels only touch the centre It's funny you have a fish as an avatar. Cause you swallowed that bait hook, line & sinker! Guy "Mission Accomplished!" Koepp The best double post. Winning.
  23. What's frustrating is that the park would randomize when they would let guests in past the middle carousel to the Goliath bridge; or would hold a rope drop by Superman. There was never a way to predict it; it was just sometimes you could go deep into the park for a rope drop or get stopped at the front. I haven't been to the park this year so if anyone has insight I'd love to hear what's up this year.
  24. Everything that we *want* to know is out there based on the current construction. Low 100' tall, mid 50 mph, barrel roll drop, tons of airtime since it's a RMC. Very intersted to see how it goes out and back in the rectangle footprint that it occupies. Themed huss top spin + giant Intamin drop + unique Intamin invert launch + B&M floorless (top tier) + Giga + RMC = A park I need to be at NAO
  25. I don't mean this to be a dick, but yes it does. The barrel roll was uncertain, height, 20 airtime hills, speed, etc Height and speed and barrel roll were already there. Just look at the existing structure that's been up the past month +. The way the supports are coming down from the lift hill spells out roll and drop. Unless you thought RMC was going to build a drop at the same angle as the Beast's second lift hill, haha. Double digit airtime moments is a guarantee on any RMC.
