  1. Doesn't really matter. You know why? Because "The Escape" ISN'T a coaster!
  2. I posted a "hometown" thread a LONG time ago, but I will still play along. Good Ol' Weirton, WV.
  3. ^ If you are talking about the inverted model, the tube is there to drain the water that gathers over the riders (in a little dish looking thing). It guides the water under the seat where it can drain without covering you.
  4. Speaking of pulling a "Ted Cromwell", check out this glass. Here are some of my offerings from this week (sorry it has been so long since I regularly posted). The Roots are up there somewhere. Such an awesome live band. ?uestlove was off the hook. Enjoying a Yuengling (free beer is the best) at The Roots show on Monday. Sorry I have been such a slack-ass lately. Here is one of the fine beers Memphish gave me at Holiwood Nights. Really need to drink the rest before they go bad.
  5. Early in the morning ... seriously.
  6. I always liked this one the best. Thunderbolt (Kennywood) still unlocks the restraints using this method. I guess that means that the NAD trains have the release underneath the coaster.
  7. Been on them at Knotts, Dorney, Thorpe and Kennywood and Kennywood's stands apart from the others. While all the other hit 2 swings max at the top height, Kennywood's does about 5-6. It also seems a lot more powerful than Thorpe's.
  8. New for 2010! Flight of Icarus (B&M Flyer) // Busch names are almost starting to become predictable ... almost
  9. ... and according to Terminator 2, we all should have died 9 years ago
  10. ^ That is it and a good example. On PTCs with ratching bars the bar that pushes the locking mechanism is on the side of the train, but very similar.[/img] Spring-loaded release on the side of the train
  11. ^ B&M bars/OTSRs ratched closed. Benzo, most trains do not have any sort of motor to "accept power" from the station. For more, this is a decent page to look at: www.coasterquest.com/howitworks.htm
  12. Restraints aren't so much locked by operators as unlocked. The default for all restraints (and trust me ... it is a good thing) is locked. The way they are locked differs by manufacturer, but most are spring loaded and ratched. Intamin's, on the other hand, are mostly hydraulically locked.
  13. They are just engineering all the forces out of their new rides. Just like at the lines of a ride like Kumali, Booster Bike and the pics your referenced compared to those of old.
  14. I think if anything was "juiced" to help contribute to the HR records, it was the balls! Post-strike baseball needed something quick to pull it out of it's slump ... hence ... the long ball was born.
  15. Never heard that one before ..... Toxie!
  16. A search will reveal several other threads. // Please search first. Closed.
  17. I only wish that we lived a little closer. The Alvey's always throw the greatest parties.
  18. ^ Try JetBlue, they just started flying to PIT and it is cheap! Excellent photos, Adam. // part of the BANBT Team (Beer and no baseball team)
  19. ^^ Nope. ^ That is true, but not what I am looking for.
  20. ^^^ A bit of advice. Don't let these coaster nuts know where you live, or you will wake to daily candlelight vigils in your front yard.
  21. Isn't that kind of like their whole niche.
  22. I posted ON topic and answered the question correctly. Now here is my group. What do these have in common? Flying Scooter - Conneaut Paul Bunyan's Login Toboggan - Idlewild SLC in Storage - Great Escape
  23. £1 is actually more like $2, but we are splitting hairs at this point ... it is still cheaper. The funny thing I noticed in the UK is that there is very little markup from the store to the park. Unlike the US, most stuff costs about the same as you would pay on the street.
  24. I know it is a trivial detail, but the Swing Shot did run both sides for at least a few cycles. Great as aways Mark.
