  1. All I know is that i would hate to be a web developer for them right now. They are going to have to update that whole flash-based FIND-A-PARK thing on a daily basis pretty soon.
  2. ^ Yep. That is what happens when you buy every piece you land on. Everyone else has the capital left to "add hotels" and knock you d**k in the dirt.
  3. ^ They could always resort to their old policy and pay the employees at the parking gate with that day's take. // being completely serious
  4. You think you have it bad. I have to go in and change all the databas entires on my site!
  5. The funny thing is ... most of these rides (with the exception of Predator) wouldn't be running anyway.
  6. I would imagine that it would remain a theme park if it is sold. The land can't be worth much to any kind of commercial development. Maybe some $1,000,000 homes (waterfront property anyone), but that is about it. I could be completely wrong, but I think I remember reading somewhere that the original owner was very much interested in re-purchasing the park. // Edit: Added some Wiki data
  7. In my opinion, it is only a matter of time. This park WILL be sold. Of course, I might be alone, but I think that it is a mistake. In my eyes, Darien has a good bit of potential. SFMM makes a LOT more sense to me. That park is a logistical nightmare and far from a quick and easy turnaround (which is what SF needs) // Pave Magic Mountain
  8. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Six Flags Darien Lake, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. 9. I booked ours about 5 weeks or so out and probably got one of the better rates. PIT - LHR $750 / Ticket (after all fees) We saved a lot of money by leaving on the 7:55am flight out of LHR.
  10. I participated in a Poker Run this past Sunday and won the following package: 9/1/2006 Post Gazette Pavillion (Burgettstown, PA) Hootie and the Blowfish Better than Ezra 2 Pavillion Seats (Sect 7, Row O) 2 VIP Tent Passes 1 VIP Parking Pass I won't be able to go (heading to Texas) and would like to see them end up in a fan's hands. They are free to the first serious inquiry.
  11. It has been policy for quite some time. No cameras on ANY ride. Although, I am sure they aren't going to shoot you for snapping a picture on the Carousel or Auto Race.
  12. Glad to see that the Silver Comet Fan Club is growing. It may not be the biggest or best ... but it sure is fun! After Mark buys your photos, he must tell us why that mouse is so lame. Are the rotations less due to the Canadian-American spin exchange rate or something?
  13. ^ I don't think we even realized how crowded it was until I started to take pictures. When we got there at 10:45, there was about 30 people in the waterpark. Obviously, those numbers increased over the course of the day. To fairly rate the coasters, I will put them in this order from best to worst. 1) Big Dipper (Running pretty smooth with some healthy air on most hills) 2) Dominator (Stick towards the front. The back is rougher than you would expect from a B&M) 3) X-Flight (Call me bizarre, but I actually prefer these to the Superman genre. Air is still my fave) 4) Thunderhawk (Sure it is an SLC ... but it isn't half bad) 5) Superman (Not a big fan of this genre, but at Geauga Lake there is much worse) 6) Head Spin (Pretty average Boomerang) 7) Beaver Land Mine Train (Typical Tivoli, but at least it doesn't hurt) 8) Raging Wolf Bobs (Much smoother than a couple years back, but still could benefit from some PTC love) 9) Villian (Steel structure + CCI + G-train = Crap!) No ranking for Double Loop because I haven't rode it in about 10 years, but it is pretty much what you would expect.
  14. Thanks again, Soren, for the great Photo TRs. Catrina and I are currently planning a honeymoon partially on Diz property and the tour is going to really come in handy. // has never seen most of these resorts
  15. ^ I was thinking exactly the same thing. If you are going to post your email, at least format it like this: ted - at - tedcromwell - dot - com Your inbox will thank you!
  16. ^ You can give the credit to CF! They have basically shut down every "old-school" slide in the park and completely modernized it. Before the slides were scattered everywhere (much like Darien), but now they are all on the Sea World side. This has been where Cedar Fair has put it's focus over the last two years there. The entire waterpark complex has been built over the last two years.
  17. From what I have read, there is some pretty strict zoning in place that would keep it from being any thing but amusements. The city of Denver put 30mil into the property solely for the purpose of amusements, and I don't think it will be easy to change that.
  18. You can't think of anything more creative to fill the server's hard drive with than dots! // Closed
  19. Hell Yeah! Two people have already listed "Reign in Blood". Sweetness. Slayer - Reign in Blood (Of Course!) Del McCoury - It's Just the Night Naked City - Self Title Fantomas - The Directors Cut Ramones - Self Title (First Album) The Cult - Electric Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Foo Fighters - Colour and the Shape Stray Cats - Built for Speed They Might Be Giants - Lincoln The Roots - Come Alive Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage Black Sabbath - Mob Rules Soundgarden - Louder the Love and many many more ...
  20. ^ That sure does look like the Econo Lodge. If so that makes you braver than me! "Mean Streak - voted one of the top ten wooden coasters in the world!" - Classic
  21. ^ The lines were actually pretty short considering the number of people. Most people were on the Waterpark side for the better part of the day. I totally forgot to mention Dipper! I hadn't rode it in several years and I thought it was running GREAT!
  22. From the last week. Chillin with a Labatt Blue in Whitewater Kingdom Terrapin Rye Pale Ale
  23. Catrina and I went to Geauga for the second weekend in a row this Saturday. Today's mission was more waterpark based than anything else. We got up nice and early to grab some prime real estate by the pool and hang out there for the better portion of the day. Here are the photos: Welcome to Geauga Lake and Wildwater Kingdom! Here is our spot for the day. Lots of interesting things will be witnessed from this location. As you can see from this photo, there are LOTS of people here today. (Don't tell me how bad Geauga Lake is hurting, because I don't want to hear it) I think I will just sit here and enjoy a fine $6 beer. After a bit, I walked to the edge of the pool to make some new friends. "Can I have a turn?" to which I responded "Nope. Not yet!" Yeah right. Geauga Lake looks like they are really struggling. The lazy river is pretty nice. They have several play area along the route and it goes under the walkway a couple of times. One of fountains and a shot of Cedar Fair's trademarked concrete look. This is the main slide tower. There are 4 raft slides and 3 body slides. I have only rode the body slides once and they are completely insane. The orange intertube slide has to have the steepest drop of any "tube" slide. The riders fly across the water at the end. Moments before this guy did a complete face plant. Geauga Lake also has one of those cool "Funnel" slides. Catrina and I caught a ride early in the day before the 1-hour line developed! AS you can see the tube slides are pretty popular too. The old Sea World side still has couple of rides left over from the park's Six Flags days. "Thriller Bees" is another ride that is left on the "wild side". It kind of looks like a mini-Swing Around. Crazy People! Crazy! A handful of people in the play pool. Wildwater Kingdom also has one of those big "water dumpy" thingys. The other side of the wave pool has a row of Cabanas where you can live it up Celebrity style and have people bring your drinks to you. They are, however, an extra charge. Now it is time to head over to the "Ride" side of the park. After 5 or so visits to this park, it is time for me to finally get my Boomerang credit. Obligatory vertical loop photo for Derek. Steel Venom (Superman) is in about the same shape as last week. Only 4 rows on the train and .... ... the rest are just laying about. Catrina still needs the Villian credit so I took a ride to see how bad it really was. I haven't rode it in a couple years and needless to say, I love Catrina WAY too much to ask to ride this thing. It is absolutely horrible! No Dominator rides for us today, but I did stop to grab a couple of photos. Interlocking corkscrew goodness. Dominator is much different than other B&M rides due to it's high speed banked turns. Unfortunately it is also one of the "Shakier" B&M rides also. Catrina completely swore off the "Bobs" after a visit 2 years ago, but I wanted to take a ride to see if the re-tracking really did anything. The former Villian train heading to the lift. (The former Legend train was also running.) Bobs was running MUCH better than two years ago, but the G-Trains certainly take away from the experience. With a couple of PTCs, this ride would actually be pretty good in my opinion. Log Jammer It has been a long day and the crowds are still pretty crazy. We decided enough was enough and we headed to the car. On our way out, we noticed the X-Flight was having a little problem. That's got to suck! Thanks for reading everyone. Post your comments.
  24. Awesome! Moonshine makes it's first appearance in the beer thread. // I feel at home
