  1. Nice catch! Can't believe I missed that one. It is SO obvious.
  2. If you have to ask yourself "Is this too personal?". Then it probably is.
  3. If it helps, it is pretty much public knowledge that Robb first purchased the domain name (themeparkreview.com) on 9.8.1997. http://whois.domaintools.com/themeparkreview.com ... and the forums started on 2.14.2005
  4. Maybe the code monkey is in the process of changing them? EDIT: Might be a bug. Looks like SFoT doesn't have any hours either. http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overtexas/ParkInfo/index.asp
  5. From the days of Acid Wash jeans, Members-Only Jackets and mullets, I bring you this fine Retro TR. While on a Spring Training (Reds in Plant City) trip back in 1988 (Pretty sure about that one), my Dad and i paid a visit to Epcot. my dad has never really been the theme park type, but I guess he thought that this one would be different. It was! And the end, he really enjoyed the park. WARNING: Accidental fashion in the following photographs! We started the day bright and early with breakfast at Buddy Freddies in Plant City. My dad is a huge golf fan, so he instantly fell in love with Epcots iconic geosphere. "Ted ... get a picture of me next to this big golfball!" Our first stop was Living Seas and Sea Base Alpha. I believe that this attraction was relatively new at the time and it took us about 45 minutes to get on the sea cabs. Ouch. Check out that outfit! Standing in front of the original Journey into Imagination. Getting ready to watch MJ battle evil with the power of music. A random picture of Pops in front of some random statue. Holy crap! Mickey! Gotsta get me a picture with the big man. Maybe he will sign my mullet. Too cool for school. Father and son posing in front of the World Showcase. My dad isn't very big on travelling, so he was glad to know that he would get a chance to see the world without going overseas. We stopped in Germany to check out some of Soren's relatives rocking out. Inside of World of Motion, they had all kinds of high-tech cutting edge whips. Take this 1989 Riviera for example. From my best guess, my dad shot this from the World of Motion ride. Yay. I even have proof! Thanks for reading. More Retro TRs to come!
  6. I am sure that this is probably already public knowledge, but I asked a CM years ago about the "pans" at BTMR and he said that it all goes to charity. Damned if I can't remember which one. // Brinkley is still a celebrity?
  7. Rick (San Jose's own CoasterPalooza) was about 30 minutes away from my home for the past week. After a couple failed attempts to meet up, he and the crew came down to check out the band in Toronto on Saturday night. I planned on getting to Washington, PA the next day to see him work the Pony League championship game, but ended sleeping. I did, however, manage to catch half an inning Time to hop on the bikes and head to Washington, PA. Rick was kind of enough to give us a game ball from the Championship Game. Autographed by the whole crew to boot. I will have to put it with the collection. In the neighborhood, so we stopped by Catrina's aunt's house for some grub. The bikes got a pretty good soaking. Another example in a long line of horrible self portraits. My friend and I pulled off the road for a minute after riding through a hellacious storm. Puerto Rico took home the trophy. Made it to the game. TPR's own Rick behind the plate.
  8. They are in quite a few movies. Actually if you look closely, you will see many other people from the forum in these. Hell, just the other day I watched that "everything" you need to know video and I saw BeemerBoy and his woman riding Superman. Another thing that is pretty misleading is they use the same footage ... over and over and over and over. After a while all the new shows just feel like compilations of old material.
  9. This is just silly talk. // Closed
  10. I have seen the MythBusters episode and I must say that the reaction was much more violent than I could have imagined. There must be someway that we can harness this force and use it for good.
  11. I don't think you should have a problem getting everything on that checklist. Looks like the only things that will be down are: Casey Circus Train Francis Lady Bug Boogie You have beet luck than me! Don't forget to get your "Gadget" on. It is a coaster after all.
  12. Surprised nobody has mentioned this till now, but I am willing to bet that one of their most profitable products is ..... Frog Hopper! There has to be well over 200 of those things in the US alone. Nearly every single park has one and some even have two. But it doesn't stop there ... most FECs that have rides of any sort also have them. If you have ever seen pictures of S&S's warehouse, you will find that they have "Hopper" parts laying around everywhere. I want the rights to manufacture these things as the look to be the ultimate cash cow.
  13. Ojos Asi. At least I think that is what it is called.
  14. I hearby declare this thread to be "DUMB" Please post this sort of thing in the "Random" thread. // and may god have mercy on your soul
  15. I was also going to correct you on the space mtn. thing, but Erik beat me to it Arcade or Porn? ... and you choose Arcade?
  16. ^ What he said. It does it all the time. Basically the train is "Buckling".
  17. Joanne from the park actually contacted me a couple of years ago because she thought it was pretty neat that the coaster was actually on my site. So far, James ... you look like the only one with that credit.
  18. Anymore ... they both suck. // not that SOB was really that good to begin with
  19. But where are the turns? In response to the "BS" accusations, it makes a lot of sense why S&S would be hurting. After the CCI and Arrow buyouts, their debt load must be pretty high. If you aren't performing a super high level, then well ... you know what happens. Put that and the fact that recent swing installations have been plagued with problems (which delays their payments and increases their costs) and you have a company that is waiting for the bottom to drop. It makes perfect sense. In the end, I would only suggest to the next owner (if it comes to that) that he does NOT even attempt to build another 4D.
  20. ^ Trust me, unless you have ridden 60-70+ wooden coasters it will blow your mind no matter it's condition.
  21. ^ Good lord. The least he could do is put a period at the end of his 5000 word run-on sentence.
  22. ^ Actually, I didn't really have any complaints about Legend this year either. In fact, there are a LOT of people who would probably prefer the way it is running now as opposed to the way it is meant to run. The problem with it now feels like a small "gauge" problem on the top third hill (at least I think it is the third hill) where the train loses a good bit of speed. When it is at 100%, it is a VERY intense ride. They don't call them the "four corners of death" for nothing.
  23. Getting a little personal I would say. // Closed
  24. Just think of it like this: Reprofiling: Bad (Most of the time) Retracking: Good! Holiday World maintains their woodies better than just about any park. Will understands the need for continual maintenance on his rides and budgets accordingly (unlike a lot of parks). If a coaster has a "bad" year at HW, you best believe that it will be screaming the next.
