  3. My good things: It is warming up and I got my bike out of hibernation I figured out a way to ride ShieKra opening month Coaster season is starting for me I just sent out my WCFC Knoebels Event money Going to PKI this weekend People are finally posting on my message board Launched WhenToRide.Com
  4. ^ In My Opinion IMHO = In my humble opinion IIRC = If I remember correctly I don't normally pick on "Newbies", but next maybe try a Thread Title that is a little more descriptive. You will get more replies. Example: Florida Coasters vs. Everywhere Else Just trying to calibrate my thrill meter.
  5. Graphic Design / Data Design - Nauticom Internet Services (http://www.nauticom.net)
  6. [sarcasm]I went to this thread with the sole intention of seeing what kind of smack Robb was talking on Kip and I get is this typical cookie cutter Ultra-Twister[/sarcasm] Seriously ... This ride looks great. While America has some of the finest coasters, you really have to travel to find the most unique creations. Me lika.
  7. If you ride an air-launched S&S, there is no doubt where the hardest acceleration can be found. // Hyper was extreme. The thought of Dodonpa just scares me.
  8. I'm all about PTC trains! Personally, I really dislike G-trains. I wish every woodie utilized PTC trains. But my real preference is GCII Millenium Flyers. // Everyone's got their own opinions.
  9. Yeah ... what he said. Robb brings up all the points that I look for when planning a trip and if I hadn't been to either, Florida would be the obvious choice. Really the only thing I think you miss in Florida is the "BIG" ride. But IMHO, Goliath and XLR8R are the only good big rides in California. // Still comtemplating a May BGT trip
  10. ^ Posts a lot of messages in this thread << Is toying with the idea of flying to BGT in May just to see how good this whole SheiKra thing is.
  11. I thought Federov should have been gone weeks ago. I guess he is getting some mileage out of that name with all the hockey fans. Also, Goodbye Scott. After the public found out you were a woman beater, you had to deliver a grade A+ performance to bail yourself out. You didn't.
  12. I also dig it although I missed tonight's episode. I finally made the switch from Satelite to Cable and get it working just a little too late. // I might put Vegas between MythBusters and House
  13. Gemini @ Cedar Point - Sorry I haven't lived up to my moniker in a while. But seriously ... just about anything at Busch Parks (Montu, Kumba, Apollo, Lochness, Alpy, etc)
  14. It was about an '80 or so. He didn't have it very long. Just thought it was funny how much they have changed. That was probably around the time they stop mass-producing them over here.
  15. ^ It's not hard to forget Actually, i have been there 3 times and still haven't rode it. I can't believe how long people will wait for that thing.
  16. Hit them early and you shouldn't have a problem. // cough **whentoride.com** cough
  17. My brother used to have a Fiat, but it looked more like this ...
  18. I see a lot of talk w/ B&M and Intamin and rarely are others mentioned. I love both B&M and Intamin, but here are a couple of the others. Morgan - I love what they did with Steel Phantom at Kennywood. Phantom's revenge has some of the most hardcore air-filled dips of any coaster ever made. While smooth is great, there is nothing quite the feeling you get going down a big Morgan drop. It is like falling off a cliff with a car chained to your ankle. Maurer Stone - I really like their take on the spinning mouse and would love to get to one of the custom installations.
  19. Without any engineering expertise at all; let me go out on a limb with this one. Most of the CCIs that are built on a steel structure get a bad rep. I think this has something to do with the force not being equally applied to all parts of the structure. Since the base is all built out of steel, it doesn't absorb the force, vibrations, etc as well and instead applies the abuse to the track itself. I would even lump Ghost Rider into this category because the support structure is nearly as "solid" as the steel based. Less support movement = faster ride (one of the reasons Raven and Boulder Dash are so popular), but the trade off is the abuse the track takes. I could be completely wrong, but it makes sense in my sick mind.
  20. ^ ToT at WDW is one of the only times I have seen a Cast Member tell a guest to "Put their camera away". // Once rode R&R Coaster with a drink in my hand.
  21. ^ I didn't really want to my synopsis to come off as much of a slam. I actually enjoy PCW quite a bit, but it isn't because they have top-notch coasters. Minebuster and Wilde Beast both suffer from the same problems that most "Summers/Dinn" rides face. My PCW ratings: Dragon Fire - An earlier Arrow looper. Pretty smooth in comparison to some of the others. The corkscrews are taken at a pretty good speed that is comparable to the Carolina Cyclone. The flat stretch after the first drop cracks me up every time. Mighty Canadian Minebuster - Before it was modified to accomodate the waterpark, this ride was top-notch. It still has some air, but nowhere near as much as it did pre-mod. Still decent, but the final helix is now taken at a slower speed. I got a decent ride a couple of years ago in the rain, but that's about it. Scooby's Gasping Ghoster Coaster - One of the better Beastie/Ghoster/Fairly-Odd clones. Received a lot of new wood a couple years ago. Silver Streak - Runaway Reptar Clone. Junior Vekoma invert. Not much more than a credit. It just isn't that enjoyable. Skyrider - Togo standup. I actually enjoy these a little bit and this is the best one left in North America since the King Cobra was dismantled. Much better than Shockwave at PKD. The Fly - One of my favorite "mouse" coasters. Very similar (if not identical) to the layout of the Ricochet coasters at Carowinds and PKD. Thunder Run - A powered Mack coaster. A double helix figure 8 inside the mountain. It goes through the course twice and is actually a pretty fun ride. Tomb Raider: The Ride - Pre evil. Bad restraints and some of the worst transitions I have encountered on a coaster. The only plus is that it runs very effeciently. Top Gun - Probably the roughest SLC I have been on. There isn't too many good things I can say about this one. If you want the credit, it is best to hit it early or late. It can get some pretty good lines in the middle of the day. Vortex - PKI Top Gun clone. I like this one a little better than Top Gun because of it's location. The drop off the "mountain" is very cool. Wild Beast - Wooden twister modeled after the defunct Wildcat at Coney Island in Cincinnati. Fun but it shuffles just enough to take a noticable about of speed away. Overall, PCW is a day-long park that while enjoyable is not full of "killer" ride experiences.
  22. If you have a few bucks to spare and want a great way of planning your trip right down to the dollar and mile ... pick up Microsoft Streets and Trips. In contrast to the amount that would be invested in such a trip, it is a drop in the bucket.
  23. My list: '81 Ford LTD - My First Car '88 Chevrolet Cavalier '87 Ford Taurus Stationwagon (Oh Yeah!) '00 Dodge Neon - First New Car '02 Honda Accord 2dr
  24. Nothing really. I think to call it "Six Flags Florida" is a bit extreme. BGT is a very well run park. The only complaint I have ever had is the way they run Gwazi. But, with the crowd it draws, it doesn't even end up being that bad. Some things that make BGT a great park. Clean Good Food (I still love the HH Sandwiches) Great Coasters (The best selection of any Busch Park) One of the best Sky Rides Big Band Concert Series Excellent Train Ride 3 Fun Water Rides (Jammer, Chute, and Rapids) They closed Akbar's Adventures
