  1. That blue train has one hell of a zero car!
  2. It may be me, but back in the late 80's and early 90's, it seems to me that we were able to get away with being 1/2 an inch too short once in a while. Not all the time, but as I recall, the ride ops just sometimes let it slide. Maybe this is why parents try to help their kids to break the rules, because they remember doing this when they were younger and it working. I can say my parents never encouraged it. Nonetheless, I don't think the world was as sue-happy as it is today. Just a thought, not that I agree with it at all; if I was the ride op I would not budge from the rules. Chris.
  3. Ok, is 'word of mouth' even worth abbreviating? Come on now...remember English, people!
  4. I'll just watch it from the other side of the protective barrier. . . . oh . . . snap! Nevermind Chris.
  5. Are you planning on restoring 'line 2' of the forum titles? I liked having the information like 'BGE pictures posted to page 87!' It seems the new format does not have this information: VS the old format, with a little more info, which I like New format, with no yellow subtext
  6. If you are an ACE member, I suggest the deluxe plan. Otherwise, you should be fine on the standard plan. Chris.
  7. Skinny jeans are sooooo weird; the sooner the phase ends, the better When I want to show off my sexy runner legs, I wear shorts! To each their own I guess. . . Chris.
  8. Wasn't there a running joke on TPR years ago involving 'TAER IT DOWN!' ? Yes, misspelled. Chris.
  9. Fish Canyon Falls is awesome, its the only hike here in so cal that I know of that you have to take a shuttle bus to the trailhead
  10. ^In order to prevent any 'exclusivity' feeling, if you are considering changing what it would be called, I would recommend something along the lines of 'TPR Contributor.' I dunno, just a thought.
  11. Nice bump, everybody. I had no problem working the map, just took a little common sense. I did run into trouble when uploading a picture, so I just left the picture out. Chris.
  12. 1. What are your initial thoughts? I'm all for it. 2. Can you think of anything else we could be offering? With the only other forum that I am a part of and spend money on, adding a premium account allows you to have a customized, almost myspace style 'profile page.' I would like to see that option added here in the future with premium memberships. 3. Is this something that interests you? Premium placement is very nice, and if you know anything about my opinions, then you would know that I LOVE the idea of a filter for TPR trips, especially the local ones *cough* wcb *cough*. 4. Why would you NOT be interested in this? Well, completely contradictory to what I said in question 3, adding a premium option always opens up that door to make people feel more privileged than others, particularly in person at park events. I would not want this $40 to make people feel above other people or otherwise entitled to things they shouldn't be complaining about. I guess it opens the door to people poorly representing themselves as TPR Premium Members. On another hand, reading in your statement that there was a 'I have been on a TPR trip before' exclusive trip was kind of off-putting. Like, I am part of a community that has an 'insiders' club where this whole time I thought I was equal. I see premium membership adding to this split even more, especially to those who cannot afford the membership or I guess minors who's parents think the price is a bit steep. 5. Any additional feedback you can give us based on the information you see here. All that being said, I think $40 is a very fair price especially considering the $15 store credit. Other than a fantastic evolution idea that I would LOVE to see for TPR that has been running through my mind, which has nothing to do with premium membership, no I do not!
  13. Honestly, I think the media is just latching onto this idea because it was in the news a few months ago. They tend to obsess on little things they think is new news. Sometimes, they report from a helicopter every time a lift hill at sfmm breaks down. They keep reporting it for a month, then they get over it. The current media obsession here in LA is broken water pipes. Every time one breaks, they have all kinds of coverage on the news. Truth be told, these incidents are not on the rise or anything weird, its normal for this to happen, but all the sudden, the media found it newsworthy. Same thing is happening at DW, I think. Anything minor that happens earns an article in the local paper. It's hard to get out of that rut, but eventually I think they will get over it. I highly doubt this power outage is anything out of the ordinary, its just suddenly something the papers can write about. I agree with Elissa, the 'customer service' was probably to get the drunks and the people who need to pee off the train. The fat people would not want to climb down the fire ladder, so they probably stayed on the monorail Chris.
  14. ^I get your point and agree with it 100%, except that on the other side of those mountains is Palmdale and Lancaster. Geographically, Magic Mountain is on the other side of the Santa Susana's, not the San Gabriels Here we see Magic Mountain, the Santa Susana's, and that haze behind it, thats the San Fernando Valley. A little less dramatic than the San G's. Sorry I'm just kind of a geography whore, don't want to be misleading! Chris
  15. ^I realize that it is usually just one person. Sometimes two. However in both of my situations, they clearly left an impression with me. I think it is so awesome that we get to go to these events, but I guess the selfish side of me wants to restrict it a little bit. Have a 'TPR member for over a year presale' or something. At least that MIGHT prove that people are actually reading the threads and have some idea as to how to act at these events. You know, like a respectable human being. At the very least, I really feel that people need to watch their manners. Having a list of 'rules' is way too ACE like, and that separation is what makes us awesome, but manners would be nice. Anyway, I'm done being a debbie downer, lets talk about Knotts!
  16. ^ I get the feeling that he is trying to grab some attention with what he has up now. Why post more items if there is no *actual* interest in whatever is already posted? Zero bids on all items so far.... Chris.
  17. ^ Okay. I dont want to get super dramatic or anything about what I deem inappropriate, but I'll explain where I was coming from. When I get invited by TPR to go to an event like WCB or Termination Day, or any event for that matter, I am extremely grateful and feel privileged. Robb and Elissa arrange a fantastic event that, for a day, we really get a VIP treatment of the park, usually for a fraction of even the price of a one day admission. Therefore, as a guest, I act like a guest. At the Q&A, I'll be honest, its been two years and I don't remember specifics, I just recall some attitude being expressed to management. You know, the management that went out of their way to entertain us for a few hours and let us in on whats going on. A question that was stated was something like 'I thought the bathroom conditions are ATROCIOUS. How do you expect me to enjoy a day with my kids with that nonsense going on?' In my opinion, the question could have been expressed as 'I feel the restrooms need some major attention as far as renovations and cleanliness go. Is there a plan in the future to address this issue?' There were others that just made me feel 'oh no, they didn't just go there!' I guess I just felt like some people took it as a public opportunity to sound like an irate guest at Guest Services. It was not the place or time to be acting like somebody trying to get something for free. I'll state again that this is just in my opinion, perhaps others feel that anger is the only way to get through to management. In another situation, when our provided ERT started about twenty minutes late, I observed a couple of people that went out of their way to be super irritating. They were 'rallying the troops' so to speak, kind of trying to fester everybody around them with anger. They were complaining to ride ops, basically anybody with a nametag was getting super harassed by these guys. Do I think they stopped back and thought, 'whatever is wrong, I am sure it is being addressed.'? No, I don't think they did. As it turns out, the time that we spent waiting for the ride to be available was added on at the end of ERT. Fruthermore it was a FANTASTIC time. Everybody wins. Okay to conclude my rant, I just feel that it is important for everybody that attends these events to know that we are guests, and it is ultimately the parks choice to continue these events. We don't 'deserve' them by any means. Robb and Elissa really go out of their way to ensure we get a one of a kind experience, which needs to be remembered even while the event is going on. If everything is going great, good! Thank somebody! If there is a hiccup in the plans, well you should also consider the fact that something went wrong, and rest assured something is being done to fix the situation. We don't need to add on to the problem by getting in the way. We don't need to discourage them from having q&a's if they just think they are going to be bombarded by angry, poorly asked questions. I guess I am just asking for a little bit of professionalism, and to think before you act. Sorry if I offended anybody, and I welcome any other opinions. Thanks. Chris.
  18. I think it is great that KBF is gonna get some TPR love this year! I really hate all the negativity being shown to the park. Sure, its not what it used to be, but I think the kids today want thrills more than audio anamatronics. Hopefully this becomes a yearly event, provided some random hostile person does not ruin the Q&A with an extremely offensive question. Just sayin, saw it happen at SFMM. Chris.
  19. I remember the Ninja commercials showed the trains traveling upside down to emphasize the 'track on top' thing. I recall as a small child making the ride look scary as hell . Chris.
  20. I think they should just add 3 or 4 more roller coasters. I want them to go with the 'tangle of supports and track jungle' theme. I think it makes life more exciting They can name one of them 'Yellow Something or Another' and paint it purple. I can see it now. . . Chris.
  21. I've been hearing about this ACE coaster museum my whole life. I don't think it's ever going to happen. That's just me though. Chris.
  22. ^^ Same with me. Bring on helix of death as many times as you want, but I can't even handle Tatsu once anymore. Sucks for me, I guess. Chris.
  23. Elissa, I was thinking the same thing as I was reading the article!!!! I LOVE the name!!!
