I voted for #1, however I would like #4 the most if it just kept the original text underneath 'Theme Park Review.' -

I miss Psyclone in some sadistic way. I think its because every time I looked at it, I would think 'maybe it will be like before 1994.' And then I ride and well......we all know the rest of the story. But I do like seeing pictures of it. -
Historic automobile coaster?
WFChris replied to WFChris's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, they have figured out that it IS indeed a coaster, but more information would be fantastic. Why not, its the offseason Here is an OMG POV. There is even a REVERSE POV!!!!! WOW!!!!! http://www.efootage.com/stock-footage/54662/Auto_Roller_Coaster_-_1929/ -
Hey, was just browsing Facebook and came up on a debate. I have seen this in amusement books so I am fairly certain it is an amusement device, but I was wondering if anyone here had more information. I have attached the picture they are referencing and here is a link to the facebook thread: http://www.facebook.com/HiddenLA People seem to think it is for vehicular testing, but like I said, I have read about it in books and am pretty certain that it was a 'ride' of some sort. Does anybody here KNOW? The only information the OP has was that it was taken in March of 1929 in Los Angeles. Chris. Roller coaster road?

Amusement Ride Breakdown!
WFChris replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was at SFMM for Goliath's press day, and we got stuck on the MCBR. It was raining, but started hailing while we were sitting there. Additionally, the MCBR is right next to the lift, so we had giant raindrops coming off of that on to us as well. The crew had trouble releasing the train, so the front half was hanging sideways off the turn following the brake. We would move about 6 inches then stop again. Finally after we were released, we felt a *thud* in the helix, followed by a consistent bumping for the remainder of the ride, and it turns out one of the wheels on our car 'melted' or something. They said they were phasing out the old wheels or something (it was 10 years ago, memories are blotchy!). Other than being stuck on the first lift of Deja, which is more uncomfortable than weird, that is my most memorable weird breakdown situation! -
I know this is completely random, but you indicated a theme park in the Billings, Montana region. I can tell you that all that is there is a small water park. Neither Wyoming or Montana have ANY theme parks, however they do not have the population to support one according to your criteria, except that the region receives millions of summer tourists. I believe the park you have indicated is 'Amusement Park Drive In,' which, really, is NOT an amusement park. Chris.

I have a question....all of these stories about terrible ride ops that are being posted....are these isolated incidents or do they happen all the time to you? It just seems to me that when I visit, I do not run into any of these problems. I have no doubt that they DO occur, but I get the feeling that you guys are digging deeeep into your 'bash on sfmm' files and coming up with one situation out of 1000 successful ride interactions. If you tend to focus on the positive side of things, you have a better chance at forgetting about the negatives and in the end, have a better time. Maybe?

Perhaps you are just not an enthusiast? Whenever I travel the first thing I do is see what parks are nearby and if a visit is feasible. Also, when planning trips, proximity to parks usually plays a role. If I had money to go to China, I would definitely plan several theme park visits without a doubt.

I too am a bit uncomfortable about the rafts flopping over the edge in the videos, however I think they just did that for effect to make the ride seem more extreme. If they actually made the videos accurate to what the raft would be doing (aka not going over the edge a little bit), it would make the ride seem tame. I think it is just to visualize the idea that 'HEY! The raft is going from one side of the slide to the other!' Also, I may be wrong, but I recall seeing family raft rides actually going a bit over the edge at Hurricane Harbor in Cali. In the end, even if it is occurring a little bit I think the industry has deemed it 'safe.'

I know its a new guy to the forums reporting this story so you all may not know him, but I know if a park told me I was molesting people I would probably be pretty angry. To change perspective, how would YOU handle it? Just shut up and leave? What if Robb Alvey posted this and said HE was kicked out? Would everybody be all like 'Well, Robb, its private property. Thats how it goes.' I think the kid should pursue his refund.

All I'm saying is, that as a coaster enthusiast, you should not use your knowledge to pester busy ride ops. If there is a single rider line, use it. We should be the least of the ride operators concerns, not the ones coming up the exit acting like were entitled to skipping the line without purchasing a pass that allows us to do so. I know if I was a ride operator, it would annoy the poop out of me, especially if they were rocking any coaster related clothing. We need to respect each other by respecting the parks and their employees. If you are not happy with the status or lack of a single rider line, stop by guest relations and let them know!
