Before we go all crazy discussing towers on the hill, lets revisit a time....a time called.....May 9th, 2011: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26782&start=18050 Read until you lose interest, so we can continue discussing new hot topics!!! I, for one, am very excited about ANY non-coaster thrill ride at the mountain! Thrill Shot's area, minus the fact that there isn't a ton of room for a queue, would be a good location because I have always felt the walk from Apocalypse to Jet Stream basically sucks.

TPR's Front Page - What do you like/dislike?
WFChris replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey Robb, When I visit TPR, the first thing I do is check the right column for neat updates. I never even look at the left column or the random trip generator (even though the random trip always seems to be your trip to Williams Grove). An update I would see as 'worthy' would be to keep the right column for new and exciting PTR's, and maybe incorporate the fabulous new Park Index to the left side...like, maybe listing the most recent index additions or even a 'TPR's top parks' or something like that. The look can totally stay the same in my opinion as I am not one for big changes. -
Effect of roller coasters on your brain?
WFChris replied to orangeblue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ever since riding SOB I have had this ability to run into walls, get in car accidents, and flip over the handle bars on my bike while sustaining zero injury. Not the brain, but incredible nonetheless. -
^I mention a possible locals market because it is at the edge of the strip, not right in the middle of it. I don't really see the strip expanding to the south much more, and if marketed correctly it can exist as a sort of anchor; catering to both tourists who have easy access, and locals who could approach from the south and avoid strip traffic. I really think that Vegas developers need to start attempting to capture their local audience equally as much as the tourist crowd.
-
Clearly it is popular here to say 'yeah right, whatever;' however this appears to me to be a project that is an attempt to merge amusement with the Vegas lifestyle. Additionally, with the closure of every amusement area except for The Stratosphere, there should be a local market for it as well. Will it happen? Maybe. Maybe not. But, it sounds like an interesting proposal at an end of the strip that enjoys the majority of the southern strip's popularity. If done right, this entertainment complex can really blend in well with the city and significantly change the approach skyline from Los Angeles. Why is nobody here talking about the roller coaster?

PHOTO TR: Cedarpoint opening day 2011

Any particular reason for posting a picture of the Muslim mother twice? Once with the comment 'uhhh?" Just wondering what is so 'uhhh' about other cultures. -
I went to the Red Bull Soap Box Derby in Downtown Los Angeles. It was awesome. Then, to guarantee that I will not be floating away from this awesome planet, I made sure I was at Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival with my boyfriend at 6pm, just in case Afterward, we finished the night off at the Yard House. Soap Box wipe outs, almost naked go go boys, and the worlds largest selection of mediocre beer. A good day indeed Oh, and we did this ALL on public transit. Eat that, "I hate LA'ers!"

3 Epic California Parks, One Week!
WFChris replied to MrSum1_55's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Very thorough trip report, always nice to see the local parks I have to admit that I either did not get the Cedar Fair references or just found them redundant, but glad to see you had a good time...I think? Looks like you enjoyed the other parks but didn't seem to have a good time at DCA or DLR. -
Wow! When was that? This was during spring break either the year it opened, or the year after. I recall that I had never ridden it up to that point, so if it was open for spring break on its premier year, it must have been then. Sorry, I don't know the exact year, I was mega young. Let's also remember that this was before the Northridge Earthquake, and it was really an awesome coaster then!

LOS ANGELES $4.89 near work (Downtown LA, which admittedly, has always been quite a bit gouged) $4.29 4 miles away near my home. Which is normal.

Six Flags raises parking fees.
WFChris replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's true. In LA City, its 10%. 10% would be right on par with a park raising its rates $2 (you know, without going to $16.50). Ta da! -

Parking at the Ralphs (grocery store) in Downtown Los Angeles is $50 if you forget to validate. And its a machine, too. No arguing. -

I put a quarter in a parking meter in downtown LA the other day and it gave me 5 minutes.
