  1. ^Wow, I think your nuts. Most families, which are theme parks bread and butter, probably don't have this conversation: "Hey, lets take the family to Six Flags" "Great idea honey!" "The tickets should cost around $200 for the whole family" "Ok, thats not bad." "Oh, wait. They charge $15 to park the car." "Well, at least it was a good idea dear. Lets do something else" Parking fees have, and always will exist. I know I was directly called out earlier for being blunt, but to me its a really really dumb gripe. You are visiting a BUSINESS and they are in the BUSINESS of making money. Plus, paid parking really does mentally 'lock you in' and encourage you to maximize your time in the park and spend more...guess what...money!
  2. Wacky Soap Box Racers at KBF. Although, I'm not sure their removal was as shocking as its crappy replacement.
  3. How would YOU legitimize a $3.50 coke if you haven't warmed up the guest with a parking fee? Paying to get into the lot is kind of the 'welcome to expensive land' that we have all come to expect and enjoy. It just wouldn't feel right if I wasn't paying 15 dollars for a plot of concrete in Valencia.
  4. I think it might be that you are 17 and your outlook on the world in general is changing. Don't worry, it's exciting, just in a less magical...more realistic way.
  5. ^I'd imagine it's not NEARLY that complicated legally. "Section 1298754 © any old roller coaster retrofitted with OTSR's can get a 2% tax break." Yeah right. I'd also imagine that somebody is going to step in and say 'Take your speculation to the rumor thread' so this will be my last post on the subject; but as it was explained at WCB it is Six Flags policy and not a subject they want to elaborate on.
  6. ^Montezooma's Revenge is in the same state, and only has lap bars.
  7. I don't really understand it either. You pay $15-$20 to park your car in a lot to enter a theme park that you pay $65 a YEAR to visit, so you can ride several $8,000,000, $12,000,000, or even $30,000,000 machines. Suck it up, find a new hobby, or walk!
  8. ^Montezooma's Revenge is in the same state, and only has lap bars. Six Flags say's its their policy.
  9. Hey, great photos! Both with the proper camera and the other one I'm not gonna lie, the first few pictures distinctly reminded me of the watermark thread....THANK YOU for not adding watermarks to your pictures!!!!!
  10. My last coaster was Terminator at SFMM on Termination Day.
  11. ^Not public fear, it's SF policy. The public is quite aware that you can go upside down with just a lap bar; Montezooma's Revenge at KBF serves as an example. That being said, I got to ride it before the OTSR's came in, and yeah, its a wildly different ride now. We don't talk about it much anymore because all hope is lost, but many people hope one day for at least a retrofit with more comfortable harnesses.
  12. I'm not sure negative speculation is a great way to represent yourself at the START of what is going to amount to an epic TR!
  13. Wow, didn't mean to be a thread killer!
  14. Hey Robb and Elissa, you guys totally inspired me to go on a jealousy outing to Little Tokyo, here in your favorite city, Los Angeles. I hope (and KNOW you are!) you are totally enjoying Japan!!!! So, my bf and I found a couple of things for you: This restaurant has a large and complete menu, and their specialty is Yakitori. The menu is separate and you just mark how much of each item you want. (Sorry about the photo, its from a phone and I was trying to get the flowers, too) Here is my 'glad he doesn't use TPR' photo of my BF Carlos, enjoying bacon wrapped asparagus. Also on the plate, neck and some squid. Well, it's only #5, and one of the drum heads has a hole in it, but it is totally Japanese! Even the money slot requests 100 yen. It's in an arcade right below the restaurant. And to conclude, here I am with my sake/oyster/quail egg/other stuff shooter that was....good!
  15. The Arclight Theaters in Los Angeles tried this concept for a while, but took a more upscale angle on it. You would pay about $25 per movie ticket and still had to pay for food and beverage. Servers would deliver everything, and it was actually really cool. Unfortunately, it was a $100 date EVERY time so was not very popular. Eventually, The Arclight ditched the dining concept, and lowered their ticket prices to about $14 or $15. They still have a restaurant and bar in the lobby, and you can still bring the food (and alcohol) into the theater. They have a very strict NO cellphones rule, including simply turning the screen on....one strike and your out. They also have a dude give a little spiel at the beginning about the rules and movie information. Also, they charge full adult price for children under 6 to discourage bringing them! Finally, they offer 21+ screenings here and there, q + a sessions with actors from older movies preceding a screening, and other silly little 'events.' This concept works great for them and they expanding in the area pretty quickly. I guess the point is, every time they try this concept out here, it fails. The only place out here that still does this shows 80's movies and its not that expensive of an ordeal. I am curious to see how long the concept lasts out at Disney World.
  16. This conversation is also boring. Do any of you work at the park maintenance? Do you have the slightest idea as to what goes into rehabbing or working on trains? I highly doubt it, and all of this 'I think I sound technical' babble is actually kind of sad.
  17. Japan trips are always my favorite to read about... I just realized I MUST go to Japan, if only to ride the kittyliptical.
  18. ^Guys, I would think the whole point of the Taumler is that it does not have restraints. It's like a blast from the past bouncing bonding ride. Not every ride out there needs to be Americanized and tamed out.
  19. Flash Passes typically don't sell out mid week, so go to the park, feel it out, and if it sucks, buy a Flash Pass.
  20. The reaction to this 'riot' incident is quite primitive and frankly somewhat embarrassing of the American frame of mind.
  21. Here is the plan of attack when you get to the park: Be there well before it opens. Run to X2. Get your Gold Flash pass. Casually stroll to whatever ride you would like to go on and enjoy
  22. The trick of the trade is this: Don't even bother unless you get that Gold Flash Pass. That's it!
  23. Looks like this park has a ton of potential! Hope it all works out for them.
