9/20 Probably didnt help that I put Robb Alvey whenever his name was an option. Oh, pretty much all guesses:) Chris. -
Haven't seen it mentioned here, but anybody going SATURDAY should expect larger than normal crowds. Saturday is "MTV VMA TOUR" with a live concert from Alexis y Fido, Kat De Luna and Da Zoo. I Know the radio stations have been handing out ticket '4 packs' like crazy. Just thought I'd mention it! Chris.

So umm, I find it interesting that they show Wipeout! videos at SFMM. Isn't Wipeout on ABC? Isn't ABC owned by Disney? Chris.

^I wouldn't complain about it, he even specifically said 'early rides' not ERT. I would just be happy that they were able to arrange something special for us!!! Chris. -
I love the Bombay Blasters. Gentlemen, cross your legs though. I learned the very, very hard way. Chris.

I loved Wild Rivers when I visited last year in it's supposed last season. I did feel a little creepy as everybody was pretty much under 20 years old in the park, minus the parents. I'm really glad our group was my friend and his two little sisters. Kept down on the 'your old' stares. hahaha Chris.

The only thing you are missing at the North Rim are museums, gift shops, restraunts, and Ranger Programs. This is important to some people. There is still a visitor center at the North Rim, and really, if you have any questions, you are more likely to get time in with a ranger there than at the south rim. I just dont want to mislead you because all of the *ACTION* is at the South Rim, and I know Big Mike is a fan of all that! The nature and money shots and lack of crowds are at the North Rim. Think of it as going to a theme park on a tuesday in the off season. Same coasters, just not as much hype because of the lack of crowds. Its the same canyon, just a lot more mellow of a vibe. The drive to and from is not dangerous at all. Most of Arizona is wide open highway, and in most places, the speed limit is 75 mph! I guess thats an indicator as to how flat and straight the highways are. Chris.

^OK, sounds interesting, and could work, but we also need to remember that (while I LOVED the movie) it was a commercial letdown. Why market a ride to a movie that failed? Even if you take the 'cartoon' approach, today's younger generation is TOO young to remember or care about it. I lastly have reservations against a Maverick-type ride at SFMM. Our park is already the 'inversion leader' in the world, BY FAR. I think we need to be focusing on some more airtime! Or. . . . .ok. . . . kids or whatever. lol. Chris.

Most Overrated coaster?
WFChris replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The entire Kings Island park was kind of a letdown for me. I wanted to cry after getting off The Beast because I expected so much more. I had been wanting to ride it since I was tiny, and finally got the chance last year. I even rode it again at night for good measure. I guess I just don't get it. Chris. -
When to visit Kings Island this week?
WFChris replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Can you convince the powers that be to take you to KI on Thursday, and then have them drop you off at Coney Island on Friday or Saturday? Its relatively inexpensive, AND you get to miss out on some of that Baseball! Chris. -

Great reports!!!! You look like a fun little group Chris. -
Mike, Depends on what your looking for. I assume you wont be going on any long hikes based on your schedule, so we wont talk about that: North Rim: -Generally people think it is prettier -Less crowds -Less museums/food/hotels South Rim: -Classic touristy destination -Tons of people -Many places to eat -Historic El Tovar Hotel -Lots of 'points' along the rim to take pictures. In my experience, I did not really find a difference between all the spread out overlooks on the south rim. I was not hiking either, which is probably why. It was just a bunch of different angles to take pictures of essentially the same thing (a big hole). If you are there purely to see the canyon and natural beauty, I would recommend the North Rim. Mileage-wise, you are looking at about the same distance to Phoenix regardless of which Rim you go to. If you are there to go to museums, see ranger programs, and be amongst the masses (which can be fun too!), go to the South Rim!!! Remember traffic can be pretty bad in the summertime on the South Rim. It's also about 20 degrees hotter! You will spend about 2 to 3 hours longer than you expect to if you visit the Southern area. You can PM me for any additional information so we dont clog up your thread (although I'm sure you dont mind the traffic!). Chris.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

^ I believe KBF still has theirs!!! I could be wrong though. Chris. -
Your National Park day looks a little bit crammed (Bryce & Grand Canyon), but it should work out. Are you planning on visiting the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where all the touristy stuff is, or the North Rim? From where you are arriving from, the North Rim might be a better idea. I know this is a coaster site but when people bring up National Parks my ears perk up Chris.
