  1. No matter what time of day you do the drive, I have great advice. The 5 IS the best way if you are going all the way through from San Diego to Valencia. I have lived in LA my whole life, and I have learned that there is one little tiny detour you should ALWAYS TAKE!!!! Even at 2 AM!!! Take the 5 North to the 710 North to the 10 West to the 5 North It sounds complicated, but it happens within about 10 minutes. BELIEVE ME, it is worth it!!!! There is another detour can also save you a ton of time, particularly in the PM rush hour. It comes shortly after the 710/10 detuour. This should be used between 4pm and 8pm by ALL means: From the 5 North: Just north of downtown, take the 2 North to the 210 East to the 5 north (the truck route can save time if there is traffic) ...this route is about 10 miles longer but can save LOADS of time during the PM rush hour. This CAN save you up to an hour. Detour two can save you another hour. As a local, this is the route I would DEFINITELY take if I was going from Orange County to Valencia. Absolutely no doubt. Chris.
  2. Rboarded, I would like you to elaborate on how Riddler's Revenge's theming outside is 'good throughout,' yet Terminator's is not. Better yet, please let me know what Riddler's Revenge's theme IS throughout the queue. Thank you. Chris.
  3. I'm so in. I dealt with the sell out problem for the last two sfmm events so I was NOT going to wait this time! Chris.
  4. Its usually best to stick to the 5, if you want to get creative with the freeways, take the 605 North to the 210 West, and take that all the way to where it ends, at the 5. Do not use the 405 unless you love going "4 o 5 miles per hour." Chris.
  5. ^I think the metal sheeting is what is going to make this rides theme seem appropriate. I had no doubt that SFMM will pull off the Terminator theme for this ride, and these little touches are what is going to make it happen. Well, part of it anyway. Chris.
  6. Is anybody going to Long Beach Pride this weekend? PM me if you are or are thinking about it. Would be interesting to meet some TPR's in a very different environment! Chris.
  7. I didn't see the hat ferris wheel on the video! Chris.
  8. ^^For a VERY long time, Disneyland did not have airgates on its coasters, either! I was taught at a young age 'stand on the dot or the train will hit you.' Chris.
  9. Maybe the parents forgot their child leash. Just sayin... I agree, sympathies go out to the parties involved, but I think part of this has to do with keeping an eye on your children and teaching them responsibility. Chris.
  10. Just curious, does anybody else out there think this will be a lateral g nightmare? I mean, it doesn't appear to me that the cars themselves bank much on any of the turns. Chris.
  11. ^^^^^^^^ In the map picture of Manta under construction, I'm pretty sure they MEANT to have some dead ends on the ride, its depicting it under construction. Chris.
  12. ^But you know, with the GP thinking this is just Psyclone 2, it could result in shorter wait times...at least once it opens before word gets out about how much ass the ride kicks!!!! Chris.
  13. The terrible GP comments are already pouring in on SFMM's facebook. My favorite so far is the reference to 'Craptastic.' Chris.
  14. ^^^As giving local advise is part of my job, I tend to advise against the day trip to Catalina. Yeah its a great place and all, but I just think there is sooo much else to do in Southern California than spend $60 per person round trip to sit on a boat for and go to a tiny town on an island. If anything, I would adjust that to an overnight trip or just skip it. A day trip is too rushed and too expensive to actually enjoy yourself. This is based on my experience of going out there multiple times. Even on a one night trip I felt a bit ripped off and rushed. It's supposed to be laid back! Chris.
  15. On a hike the other day I saw a sign for 'Robb's Gulch' on the way. I meant to take a picture but I didn't want to look like a dork in front of my non-TPR friend Chris.
  16. Interesting as always, thanks for showcasing some of the lesser photographed rides. And some fun new angles! Chris.
  17. Spiders are wrong, but I would rather have 2 in my cabin than 10 flies, so in my cabin they remain Chris.
  18. Great trip report! Sounds like things went 'as planned' for the parents at least!!! Chris.
  19. ^^ However, last time I checked, your feet don't dangle on Eurofighters. I do agree about it fitting in there, though. Chris.
  20. From what I recall way back in the day, they actually had a dog boarding service for guests while they were in the park. I could be wrong. Chris
  21. Being stuck on lift numero uno on Deja Vu for about 15 minutes made me completely fearless of hangtime. You think about lots of different things staring at the dirt, but really, I was not afraid in the slightest. Chris.
  22. Its late, couldn't remember everything. But, you are still pushing the point that I was trying to make. While some rides at SFMM have been improved upon at other parks, at one time or another, most of the coasters at the park were really great in their prime. Chris.
  23. Does the tilt on the lift add to the ride experience? Chris
  24. At SFMM, we sometimes have to take sacrifices with having the very first of a kind. It's either that, or the best of a kind. Revolution, first Ninja, fastest Riddlers Revenge, longest, highest, fastest Superman, only Deja Vu, first X (2), first Goliath, first (from the contractor) Roaring Rapids, first with wide river Colossus, longest (when opened, I THINK!) SFMM is very proud about either having the first, or the best. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that while the extra helix is nice, Goliath had to be built in order to necessitate Titan. Those are my thoughts Chris.
