^I agree with your statement about Stephen Sondheim. Now, I said I don't like his work that much. Yeah, it's good, but not amazing, but that's just my personal opinion and music taste, so nothing against Sondheim. His works ARE absolutely wonderful and DO challenge the actors. I LOVE that. I hope it doesn't look like I'm contradicting myself or confusing anyone here. Lol.

I haven't seen Wicked live but I've seen the show on YouTube. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Is it the most amazing thing ever? No. I find that there's a difference between a quality show and a fun show. Wicked is a fun show. Very enjoyable and great to see, but it lacks important things, the "substance". I LOVED watching it, but it's not a "quality" musical. Gypsy is a quality show. It shows all emotions, lets you into the characters thoughts and feelings, etc. Personally, I find the show to be just "okay" in terms of entertainment, but in terms of quality, it is excellent. Personally, I don't like much of Stephen Sondheim's work. I absolutely love Rose's Turn, but that's pretty much it. I thoroughly enjoy Gershwin music though. R&H is... okay. Just okay though.

Even though I was on crew for Gypsy in early June, I still think about the show. It honestly isn't my favorite production, but it really is a high-quality show. Could "Rose's Turn" quite possibly be the best song ever created? Full of energy, power, and meaning. Amazing song.

You are going to be in disaster prone areas no matter where you are. Here in the midwest, we have frequent tornadoes, but things still get built. Look at Six Flags over Texas, Frontier City, Six Flags St. Louis... All GREAT examples. SoCal is an earthquake zone, and that whole area is a mecca. Disney World is on a peninsula in the ocean. They get lots of hurricanes every year. SFNO was hit by a disaster but that is very rare. The odds of it happening again are slim to none.

Over the summer, I got to work for Music Theatre of Wichita, a professional, actors equity theatre. Their shows are phenomenal. I got to meet a handful of broadway actors and I had a wonderful summer. They do five shows each summer, and next year, one of them is The Little Mermaid! Today, the cast list was announced for my school musical, Hairspray! I'm Link Larkin This is going to be the biggest show we've ever done. Every role has an understudy, which is neat. We've hired a professional set designer to work with us on the set. We're also adding additional performances (we usually do two) and are being judged by several different companies. Music Theatre of Wichita has the Jester Awards, and they judged our last musical, Little Shop of Horrors, and I received an "Outstanding Male Performer" nomination which was cool. We're bringing them back, but also the judges for the Kansas Thespian Conference. If our show is selected, we will perform the show again during the conference in January in front of over 2,000 people (also on the same stage that the national tour of Wicked was performed )

California Proposition 8 Overturned!
christianscoasters replied to NorCalAndrew's topic in Random, Random, Random
Denying someone the right to marry is unconstitutional. Period. It should never have been voted on in the first place. Let me ask you something. Do you think this is okay? What about this? What they are doing is perfectly legal. Is it right? Absolutely not! Let's say that some state decides to make it illegal for this group to protest funerals, which would be unconstitutional. Would you vote "yes" on making this illegal? Think about what they're doing to the families in mourning. I would love it if they stopped protesting. However, it is unconstitutional to deny them the right to protest. Protesting is a right that we can "enjoy." Many people don't want gays to marry. However, it is unconstitutional to deny gays the right to marry. Marriage is a right that everyone can "enjoy." Am I comparing gays to the Phelps cult? NO. I live in Kansas, I see them enough, I can't stand them. I'm also gay, but anyways... My point is, it doesn't matter if you like it or not or if anyone voted on it, DENYING MARRIAGE RIGHTS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. -

^Very well put! -
You know how in NL you have the standard side view then front/back view? There's also top view and 3D view, but that's a different story. I'd really like it if we could have a custom view, that way it's easier to make a non-curving hill or something like that at an angle (when looking at top view). Does this make sense? I'd also like to see ground level when building a coaster. I hate having to put a point down, then go in 3D to see if it's on the ground or below it.

^The previous page of this thread talks about that.

Turbulence over the mountains is to be expected It's fun. IDK why the airport is in the middle of nowhere. It just "pops up". Regarding this report: Am I the ONLY person who has had GOOD experiences on almost all of the coasters? The SLC was smooth, the Boomerang was smooth even in car 4, the Sidewinder was smooth (although I MUCH prefer the Diamondback at Frontier City, and it is AMAZING), Twister II can be smooth at times, but pretty boring. Why does everyone always say "It's a Vekoma! SO IT IS ROUGH!"??? Mind Eraser has always been a fun ride, same with Boomerang. Regarding the Sidewinder: I find it to be slower than the Diamondback at Frontier City. Not only that, but the transition from forward to backward takes a while. On DB, it's almost instant. It's FUN.

To me, I think that Texas Giant is an all-new coaster. Look at what they're doing... It's now a steel coaster, it's somewhat using the supports that were there originally, it's a new ride. So why say that it's an "upgrade"? I think they did that because the Texas Giant is so well known and so popular. I know lots of people would be pissed if Six Flags said "We're tearing down Texas Giant and putting a new coaster there!" Texas Giant is a classic and so many people love that ride. It makes sense to partly use the structure that was there and just make a new coaster and market it as Texas Giant.

I'm all for teens getting maced if they did something like this. Take it from me. I'm a teenager, I'm around more teenagers every day then most of you on here. I know how they act, and quite frankly, pepper spray would be a NICE punishment for some of the things teens do nowadays. I'd say use pepper spray and lock them up.
