  1. Who would do that? It's easier and cheaper to just lie about having ridden the coaster.
  2. That's exactly what Disney is doing. The exact dates and scope of the project are unknown. But MK's Space Mountain is getting a major overhaul very soon.
  3. It is a pretty darn weak reason, and it's not even really true. I've never been on a steel coaster that has El Toro's absurdly forceful airtime and drops. It's OK though. Voyage's days in the top 10 are numbered. I wonder if we'll see more trims in the next year or two, which would be sad.
  4. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=AroundtheWorldEpcotTourPage The cost is $85/person for 2 hours. There are discounts available for AAA or for using a Disney credit card. I'm considering doing this on my WDW trip in January, but the cost does seem a bit high. I'm sure it's a ton of fun, but I can think of better uses of $85. And I'm not fond of upcharge attractions as a rule.
  5. Good luck with the labor. May they give you the good drugs.
  6. Knott's is by no means cramped for space. Check out Indiana Beach if you want to see just how much can be packed into very little land.
  7. Which is a pretty lame reason anymore, because the place is ran pretty well as of late.
  8. According to my Disney specialist travel agent, Disney has been really trying to cut down on their dead times. Value season is a great time to go because of the reduced cost. There seem to always be discount codes floating around. And they do a lot of special events to try to cut down on the dead times. You can't blame them for doing this, but I do think it sucks a bit as I love a dead park.
  9. Am I the only one that thinks that the $88 million figure is based on pretending like Thunderhawk, Dominator, and Voodoo were new purchases? $88 million seems really high to me.
  10. Considering that this is Air Singapore, they probably cane you.
  11. I agree. Everyone knows that looking at 2 pictures of a partially constructed drop is the same as riding the ride.
  12. I always think about Cedar Point, because it's the best amusement park ever. It's the Roller Coaster Capital of the World!!! It has all of the world's best coasters like Millennium Force. MF is so amazing with how it goes really fast, and has insane ejector air on every hill. Riding Millennium Force is even better than sex. I haven't had sex yet, but I know MF has to be better. I also know that CP is the best because I'm from Ohio, and CP is so much better than Kings Island. Kings Island does have the world's best and longest wooden coaster, The Beast. But they just took the loop out of the Beast because the train jumped the track and killed 800 people. So now I think Mean Streak is almost as good, even though it's sinking into Lake Erie. At least Mean Streak still has its loop! I'd never go to a dump like Six Flags where the midways don't have nearly enough trash cans, and you get shot by gang members in line. Also, I'd have to leave Ohio to go to Six Flags. Why would I want to do that when we have the ROLLER COASTER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD right here? Cedar Point also has the best food of any theme park. TGI Fridays is easily the best restaurant ever, and it's inside Hotel Breakers, the best theme park hotel ever. Can you believe that they only charge $500/night to stay in a 2 star hotel! Like wow!
  13. Yeah, totally. The only good thing about Magnum is that it paved the way for the Swiss hypers. Otherwise it totally blows. The trains look retro cool, but give a massively uncomfortable, penis-smashing ride. And the turnaround taken from the back seat is just plain awful. I've given Magnum a number of chances to see if I'm missing something or just got an unusually bad cycle, but it always gives me laughably bad rides. It seems like a very early state prototype that wasn't quite ready for production. What language is that?
  14. Maybe it's just fun. Think of it like trash talking between the fans of two rival sports teams. And yes, it's not cool to like Voyage. If you like Voyage you're automatically an 800 pound guy cruising around the midway in a fat chariot complaining that the last time you saw your penis was during the Carter Administration.
  15. Because it's nice to see that the hype is dying down a bit.
  16. Don't they kick you out of NY for not having Cyclone at #1?
  17. I think you effectively just put Thunderhead ahead of El Toro. Doesn't the poll more heavily weight votes where the ride was ridden this year?
  18. I'm going to go with Griffon. 1) Single rider line. 2) Extra immelman helps improve an otherwise very short ride. 3) BGE did an amazing job installing Griffon into that area of France. It really looks amazing how it interacts with that area. It's just a slight edge. Both rides are pretty darn similar when it comes down to it.
  19. Yeah, I know. And that's why I'm ranking it honestly. People lying on ballots is worse than something being excessively hyped. I *really* liked Voyage last year. I just can't see how a ride that is getting noticibly rougher, has trims that neuter a key part, and gives very inconsistent rides is the best woodie in the world. It's not really a big deal. "Favorite Steel" is listed as an aside, and isn't directly included in the rankings.
  20. ^I'll be happy if El Toro beats Voyage, as it certainly should. But that doesn't seem likely this year. Give Voyage a few more years to tear itself apart, and El Toro with its much more durable track and 12389041289381293x better airtime should beat it out. I was half tempted to put Voyage at the bottom of my list out of spite, but I think I've got it at a 30 according to Robb's system for the poll. What's funny is I had Voyage at #2 last year. What a difference a year and a bunch more credits makes.
  21. You ranked the Beast over Avalanche, Hades, Cornball Express, Kentucky Rumbler, Raven, and Viper (SFGAm)? Yeah, you're definitely eligible for a membership in the Gravy of the Month Club. Be sure to ask for that in your letter to Santa this year.
  22. The Hilton Garden Inn in Valencia is pretty nice, and is as close to SFMM as you can get. I think it was about $100/night, but this was in January, which isn't peak season or anything. My submission for bad hotels near theme parks is the Tennessee Mountain Lodge right on the main strip in Pigeon Forge before you turn off towards Dollywood. Do NOT stay there. We stayed 2 nights back in April, and all our stuff smelled like mold when we got home. A coworker told me this place was clean, but he was oh so wrong. I'm a hotel nazi anymore. I do a quick check of the room immediately after checking in. If the room sucks, I just give the key back to the front desk, and then find a nicer place to stay.
  23. Expedition Everest fits in perfectly with the park and surroundings. Disney isn't going to spend $100 million to install an attraction Cedar Fair style. To me the look of the mountain, how it realistically fits in with everything, is the best part about EE. The ride itself sure ain't nothing special.
  24. J2 is in your top coasters? Wow, I've got that one ranked dead last. It's easily the most painful piece of crap I've ever been on. And in the most craptacular park ever. They should have paid me to enter Clementon. My top list: 1) El Toro 2) Phoenix 3) Avalanche 4) Cornball Express 5) Thunderbolt (Kennywood) 6) Raven
  25. Hypers: usually the back for maximum drop intensity, but I try to give the front a chance. Inverts: the front, unless the line is horrible. Inverts are so much better up front due to the visibility. Woodies: front or back. It really varies. Always went for the very back on El Toro because the first drop is insane there. Sometimes the front gives better airtime going up hills on woodies though. And some woodies are too rough in the back.
