Go out and find an ER doc to shadow. You might be able to arrange this through your school, or you could do it on your own. It's easier to do than you would suppose. This will give you the best idea of whether or not you're interested in that field.

JZ's Ongoing Kings Island Update Thread!
ginzo replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No! A hyper coaster is exactly what Kings Island needs. B&M hypers give a *very* different ride experience than SOB does. Kings Island has nothing like this, and is in DESPERATE need of a marquee attraction. -

Six Flags stock hits 10 year low
ginzo replied to browntggrr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How much you'd lose in a disaster would depend on how many shares you acquired. Although I think the company will stay relatively stable, don't many any assumptions. Them going bankrupt and their parks sold in the fire sale is certainly possible. If you told people 10 years ago that Arthur Andersen would implode in a few years, you'd have been written off as a nut. I hope they can steer the company out of this mess. Management seems to be doing a good job of turning the parks around. -
I hear crack and meth really help you shed the pounds. Ever seen a fat tweaker? Don't think so. Seriously, good luck with this.

Busch Parks are now "Worlds of Discovery."

Worlds of Discovery? *barf* It's just so generic and boring. How about "Duff Gardens"? -

I'm reading, "I enjoyed Colossus. But then I remembered it's a woodie. So I convinced myself I don't like it." Huh??? -
TPR 2008 Trips! Download the flyers here!

I asked that earlier in the thread. Holiday Park is definitely on the itinerary, and it says so on the events page. -
This is very true. My employer has a similar debt/revenue situation to Six Flags. We have about $2 billion in debt, and roughly the same revenue as Six. As a result, our stock has been hovering between $2 and $6 for the last 6 years or so. My feeling is that it will never break out of this cycle until something major happens, like a buy out or something. So yeah, our stock is awful for a long term buy and hold strategy, but people do make money short term trading this cycle we're in. They'll buy at like $4, and then sell at $5. You could probably do the same thing with SIX.

Mitch's Coaster Poll

I've got El Toro at 1, and Voyage at 30. This puts Voyage roughly in the middle of my rankings. Airtime is my favorite, and Voyage quite often doesn't deliver the goods, especially earlier on in the day. Believe me, I've given Voyage a chance. I've been to HW 4 times since it opened. It's just inconsistent, and pretty rough at times. And even when it does deliver airtime, it's nothing even close to the kind of airtime you'll get on El Toro, Phoenix, etc. -
You might check out Vanguard's index funds. They invented the index fund, and seem to be a little bit more on your side than many investment houses.

Comprehensive Coaster Credit Conversation

I don't think the gf analogy fits. Would you trust a movie critic who has only seen 20 movies? A book critic who has only read 10 books? It's pretty much the same thing with coasters. If someone says that Millennium Force is their favorite coaster when they've only been to CP and KI, then that opinion isn't based on broad experience. That individual is extremely likely to change their opinion after having visited a few more parks. Someone who has been on 500 coasters, on the other hand, has experienced many of the top coasters, and thus has more credibility when saying that a certain ride is their favorite ride. No, more credits doesn't make you better than anyone else. But, that's not quite what we're saying here. -
I'm a low-cost index fund type investor. Researching stocks seems like a pain. And the vast majority of funds don't beat the market over the long term. Not to mention that the management overhead on actively managed funds really eats away at your returns. I had an E-trade account for a while, and wound up just breaking even. I'm not sure I have the temperament for that sort of thing. Right now all of my assets are in bonds, because it's likely that I'm going to have to pull some of my money out for tuition soon. Back when I was in the stock market I did some actively traded international funds in an effort to cash in on the craptacular dollar.

Don't think I'd hit India unless I'd already been nearly everywhere else first. A friend of mine spent about a month in Bangalore last year for work, and absolutely hated the place. He said everyone treated him with utter contempt. Of course, this is just one person's experience. Oh, and two people now have told me that seeing corpses in the street in India is pretty common. -

I think Larry was referring to people who claim to like airtime and are sandbagging El Toro in the poll for some bizarre reason. You having El Toro at #2 isn't what he was talking about. -

That's not going to happen as long as Dick Kinzel is running things. He told BeemerBoy this directly during a Q&A session this year. They did mention the possibility of having GCII try to rehab Mean Streak. Of course, the only real way to fix Mean Streak involves chainsaws and wrecking balls. -

Wow, I didn't even know about those two. Hahaha and Google Maps is totally failing at giving me the driving distance between those two parks. If you guys are insane enough to go, be sure to take some pictures. rcdb doesn't have pictures of either woodie. -

I'd totally pay the $25 for the Kiddieland woodie. Yes, it's a rip off, but it's a woodie credit. This brings you one credit closer to being able to say, "I've ridden every wooden coaster in the world." Riding all the woodies in the world is an attainable feat. I doubt I'll ever get there, but it's within the realm of possibility. Riding all the steelies, on the other hand, would never happen. -

This perfectly illustrates why I'm a credit whore and make no apologies for it. Canyon Blaster, IMO, is one of the best coasters at SFMM. Yeah, it's just a kiddie coaster, but I think it's pretty darn fun for a kiddie. It has a lot of pretty neat little dips that many kiddies just don't have. Had I not been a credit whore I wouldn't know that I like Canyon Blaster. That being said there have been times where I've thought to myself that credit whoring kinda ruins the fun. When I go to a new park I find myself racing around like crazy to get all the credits in, which prevents me from slowing down and enjoying the park a bit. -
Your solution to the expense problem is in boldface. Yeah, but it sounds like he can barely eat his own creations when they're freshly made. Imagine trying to eat that stuff 3 days later.

Maybe you could cut costs by mixing in some dog food next time. I hear that's cheap.
