  1. I know about the SRM 2003 accident. Overtightening the seatbelt isn't going to protect you from falling out any more than if it had a little bit of slack in it. Why advertise your ride as "The world's top 'air-time' wooden coaster" if you won't configure the ride's restraints to allow people to enjoy the airtime? The fact is that stapling riders in is painful, and could possibly cause injury in and of itself.
  2. "Mammoth Cave Historical Tour 10/10" What? No Wild Cave Tour? Wimp! Most of the tour guides at Mammoth are excellent, including the ones that took me the Historical Tour. They all seem to be really into giving tours. I don't see what the big deal is about ride-op friendliness. HW does a better job than most parks in this regard. I don't expect a bunch of minimum wage level workers to worship me. My main pet peeve are the ride-ops that overzealously tighten your seatbelt and then slam the lapbar down onto you. A few of those characters work on the Voyage. That'll ruin your experience no matter how good the actual ride is.
  3. That's not correct. Injuries due to ride failure are a fairly large chunk of overall amusement ride injuries. Pre-existing conditions and rider misbehavior also play a large part. http://www.rideaccidents.com/ And don't assume the parks will just pay up when they're obviously at fault. The victims are obviously going to need legal council.
  4. I went there yesterday for the first time. I was a bit underwhelmed, but the Cornball Express is awesome. What a surprisingly great ride. That's the best airtime I've ever had, especially in the back. IB itself is old and dirty, and many of the ride ops are grouchy. It's such a contrast to the friendly, immaculate Holiday World, which I visited last week. I didn't stay until dark though. I hear you really have to experience IB at night to get the full effect. I think IB would be a great place to film a horror movie. It has a slighty evil ambience to it, which I kinda like. The haunted house is worth the extra money, and the dark ride is fun as well.
  5. PKI is my local park, and I'm a bit aghast about this. I find it hard to believe that they did a credible retracking this year. SOB is so rough. Last time I rode it the thing sounded like it was going to fly right off the track, and not in a good way. The stupid trains jackhammer even going downhill. It's very sad they let it come to this, but it doesn't suprise me one bit considering how poorly SOB tracks. Tearing down a newish 20+ million dollar ride seems a bit rash. Gravity Group should be hired out to fix it. After all, they're local.
