  1. Guess I'll keep happily playing Super Mario Galaxy. I can think of much better uses for $400, including putting it towards a plane ticket to CDG next summer.
  2. I'm still waiting for my copy of Brain, and I ordered it a while ago.
  3. I see what you're getting at, but GCII coasters are full of similar quick moves. And they don't seem to have many problems. I wonder if the greater speeds on Gravity Group coasters are in part to blame.
  4. Amazingly lame attempt at trolling. Back to the trailer park with you.
  5. Would you care to flesh this out a bit? Voyage, Hades, and Ravine Flyer II all use steel structures. How would Gravity Group's woodie designs be too hard on steel compared to the much more extreme drops, speeds, and elements that steel coasters have?
  6. Why waste money painting it when they could just "taer it down"?
  7. ^Was I shaking the bridge as you took that shot?
  8. My legs hurt just thinking about walking from Maverick back to the parking lot. I'll stick with the drinking fountain and the occasional overpriced lemonade or slushie-type refreshment.
  9. ^Yeah, because Cornball Express, LoCoSuMo, the Falling Star, the Double Shot, the Music Express, the Paratrooper, the Ferris Wheel, etc are all forceless and boring. Indiana Beach is well known for cranking their rides up. They have one mediocre woodie. So what.
  10. Yeah, but this is Indiana Beach. Maybe they'll find a way to crank it to "11", like they do with all their other rides.
  11. Is it more intense than El Toro's camelback? I can't think of anything more intense on a woodie than being nearly thrown to my doom over those two insanely oversized hills.
  12. Here's my fleet: Yugo GV! The finest vehicle ever produced by the Eastern Bloc! Plymouth Duster. Bill Gates eat your heart out. AMC Gremlin! Total chick magnet! Ford Pinto! Try wrecking into the rear end of one of these babies. Chevy Chevette! Zoom. Zoom. Zoom. AMC Pacer! Sexy!
  13. Yeah, it's remarkable that a rock band produced a really good electronic album. OK Computer was a big reason for me to start listening to rock again after years of listening to mostly electronic music and jazz.
  14. It's too bad that the 1-bench PTCs weren't available for this project. This would be a great test for them.
  15. Hades is by Gravity Group. I thought Robb had said something about them possibly retracking the whole ride this winter, or most of it. Even after a rainy week, Hades rode incredibly rough when I was on it in August. Gravity Group is a design firm. Both Hades and Voyage were built in-house by Mt. O and HW respectively. The greatest of designs are no match for shoddy construction. Just another reason why Intamin woodies > *. The quality of your ride doesn't depend as much on how much beer the carpenters had over the weekend.
  16. Can't you see the gunmen on the grassy knoll? This is proof positive that there is no way Oswald could have killed Kennedy.
  17. Isn't Hades getting retracked this year too? The final helix was brutal this past summer. Jackhammering galore. No idea. Both Hades and Voyage were home made coasters, I think. You get what you pay for. Though Knoebels seems to do well enough with doing their tinkering in house. We're just going to have to come to grips that quality minded businessmen, like Walt Disney, are not in vogue these days. Everybody is obsessed with cost. Go with the lowest bidder. Save money! When you combine the parks' lust for massive scale coasters with their lack of willingness to pay for quality, you get the disaster that is modern woodies. If you like a good ass beating, you don't need to spend all kinds of money and vacation time to get one. Just go to any bar, find the most neanderthal looking guy in the joint, and insult his girlfriend to his face. Or, find a sadist girlfriend. No matter what you masochists say, roller coasters are not supposed to beat up riders. You can't find one vendor that brags about how much their rides hurt.
  18. If it were my park, it would be Intamin for sure. But, I think that the price tag is beyond the reach of most smaller parks. At least Boardwalk Bullet has some spectacular drops, which is something I think that GCII neglects. They're way into curves. GCII has made plenty of dogs. Hershey's Wildcat is in my bottom 5, and that's with the new trains. Give The Gravity Group some time. We'll see how it turns out.
  19. I think this may be a little bit extreme. Hades is every bit as good as the best GCII coasters that I've been on. It's not my favorite, but it's still a great ride. The Voyage's main problem is its army of insane devotees that say stuff like, "It's good that Voyage gives crappy rides in the morning. Giving the same ride all the time is boring. When I die I want my ashes dropped off the back seat while climbing the lift hill of Voyage." I think the jury is still out on The Gravity Group. Every vendor has botched a project. I'm still hopeful that Ravine Flyer II is going to be a great ride. Waldameer is a great little park, and nobody deserves a top 10 woodie more than they do. Also, there's still a chance that they can fix this ride. Boardwalk Bullet's lay out looks far more interesting to me than anything by GCII. I love the drops! Since Kemah is apparently cash rich, maybe they should consider replacing the trains with the new 1-bench PTCs that nobody has installed yet.
  20. I think Kid A is about in the middle of their albums for me. I used to be heavily into electronic music, which has made me a very harsh critic of it. Hail to the Thief is a little bit over the top at points for me with lyrics like, "walk into the jaws of hell". The Bends is good, but still sounds like a band trying to find their own sound. And, yeah, there is little good about Pablo Honey, except for maybe the fact that they named an album after a Jerky Boys call.
  21. CTU Agent: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=468663 ^A great current discussion on Student Doctor Network about the responsibilities of PA v. MD. One of the posters is a current ER PA. Very good stuff, and might start to answer some of your questions about the PA job.
  22. Do you like "In Rainbows" as much as I do? I think it's their second best album after "OK Computer".
  23. It's true. El Toro is the most visually stunning coaster I've ever seen. It looks a cartoon coaster at points. The big airtime hill after the first drop is so exaggerated and awesome looking. There's nothing else like it.
  24. I'd suggest Flying Turns for #500. A wooden bobsled coaster looks like the definition of a "pure fun" coaster. If you make Flying Turns #500, you can also easily get 3 additional new-for-2008 coasters on the same trip. Ravine Flyer II at Waldameer, Fahrenheit at Hershey, and Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland. All 4 of those parks are within a very reasonable driving distance of one another.
