  1. ^^^That's great news because the park should just be shut down in its current state. J2 is every bit as rough as SOB, Villain, Predator, etc. With Great Adventure just a short drive away there's NO excuse for that park being so awful. Small parks can be great, like IB, Waldameer, Knoebels, etc.
  2. After re-watching the POV, I feel even more strongly about the tunnel concept. That would have allowed them to increase the height of the first drop, making for a faster ride. Though going too big on standard woodies usually doesn't turn out well. I guess it all really depends on how well the train rides across that bridge. If there is a bunch of airtime, then great. I wonder if they'll get it right.
  3. What's in a Brain? finally came the other day, even though Robb shipped it on 10/17. Go USPS! I'll post a full review some day when my brain is actually working, or I've had more caffeine. Heck, maybe Guy's DVD short circuited my brain, and it'll never work right again. The DVD is great stuff. Even my wife laughed at points, and she normally doesn't enjoy my weird, random YouTube clip sense of humor. Oh, and I still need to watch the second DVD. That'll happen this weekend.
  4. So, like I assumed, too expensive. It still would have been much cooler than a bridge.
  5. I'll take a stab at it. Great Adventure > Tragic Mountain SFMM should be one of the best amusement parks based on the awesome setting, but it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not. The place is a mess. Half the coasters were closed when I went last January. All of the B&Ms had a serious rattle problem, except for Tatsu. But give Tatsu time to develop its own case of the coaster DTs. Magic Mountain is dirty. The concessions beyond suck. They sold me a stale pretzel followed by two rotten apples in the span of 10 minutes. The clientelle is horrible. And I've never seen so darn many ride ops talking on their cell phones instead of working. Great Adventure currently has two top 10 rides, El Toro and Nitro. Magic Mountain has 0 top 10 rides. Heck, they have 0 top 20 or top 30 rides either. Tatsu does have S:UF beaten, but who cares about lame flying coasters? Great Adventure's Batman wins because of no rattle. Medusa runs a lot better than Scream! Great Adventure's lack of a stand up coaster is a plus in my book. Of the major Six Flags parks that I've been to, the rankings go: 1) Great Adventure 2) SFoG 3) Great America 134231423) Tragic Mountain More local bias! If you haven't been to Great Adventure within the last year or so, they've cleaned the place up a LOT.
  6. A deep tunnel under the road, ala Hades, would have been cooler, but probably insanely expensive and impossible to get a permit for.
  7. I say close the whole dump of a park down. Clementon is easily the worst park I've ever been to. It was so bad I considered asking for my money back.

  9. How does it run when the moon is in Scorpio?
  10. This ride concept is like Hades with a bridge instead of a tunnel. Compare the two: Hades: Twister Section > Lift Hill > Tunnel > Turn Around > Tunnel > Twister Section Ravine Flyer II: Lift Hill > Bridge > Turn Around > Bridge > Twister Section The substantial differences are: 1) Ravine Flyer II has a bridge instead of big tunnel 2) Hades has a segment before the lift hill. 3) Ravine Flyer II has several mini tunnels as opposed to Hades' one giant tunnel. Anyway, I hope it works out for them. Nobody deserves a great woodie more than Waldameer.
  11. Thanks for the information! I fully expect this to be a great ride. Indiana Beach, in my experience, really likes to push their rides to the limit. A slow and boring custom steel coaster doesn't sound like their forte at all to me.
  12. I'm spending 5 days at WDW in January, and we're getting the Deluxe Dining Plan. I want to see how much weight I can gain with this. I'm currently at 175 pounds with a height of 6'2".
  13. I played Super Mario Galaxy for 4 hours today. I never play games for that long. It's such an amazing game.
  14. The person who did that is apparently an ACE Assistant Regional Rep. Represent for the gravy massive! Those guys make it too easy to laugh at them. At least he was clever enough to not put it dead last, but putting El Toro behind a coaster that was bordering on being condemned is a joke.
  15. ^There is almost nothing in the medical literature about the effects of roller coasters on the human body. JAMA recently published a very short study about the "cardiovascular response to a modern roller coaster ride", specifically Expedition GeForce. The interesting thing was that the strongest response was seen on the lift hill, not on the ride itself.
  16. It's OK. We can take comfort in the fact that El Toro is the obviously superior ride. And in 10 years or so when Voyage is totally unridable, there won't even be any Voyage fan boys.
  17. ^Yeah, standing in the path of a moving coaster train is typically a bad idea.
  18. The monorail was a huge factor for us when we picked which resort we're staying at in January. We wound up going with Wilderness Lodge over Contemporary, but it was pretty close. It's pretty hard to beat that direct line to MK.
  19. I definitely prefer the Orlando Space Mountain to the Anaheim version. This ride is, as others have said, a little bit more wild. And I actually like the painfully corny effects. An update, however, was inevitable. I guess it's not a bad thing. I'm glad that I'm going in January to get some final cycles in.
  20. Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to get accepted at my top choice school. Love, Ginzo
  21. ^Whatever they're opening won't be as big as a steel coaster. Besides, IB > HW.
  22. I'm glad that Indiana's finest amusement park is getting a new coaster. Let's hope it doesn't suck like its brethren.
  23. Although it may not edge out Nitro or Goliath SFoG, I bet it beats Raging Bull.
  24. If I had a choice, I'd get the 30 seconds I wasted on this thread back.
  25. Yeah, I wish Cedar Point had installed more queues for Maverick. On more than one occasion I saw the queue spilled out onto the midway for at least 100 yards, if not more.
