The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

For individualized experiences, sure. But there's a certain neat thing - I'm not quite sure what it is - that comes from being able to enjoy experiences together and to be able to see, hear and communicate with the people next to you. -
Electric Car Theme Park charging stations
A.J. replied to kayoss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that having electric vehicle charging stations at a theme park is kind of tricky situation - but only right now. It's kind of hard to figure out how many stations to install but that will probably change down the road (heh). Right now, it seems as though the only people that can really use the stations are park locals and people who own a Tesla Model S (since it can go 200-260 miles on a charge). Anyone else that lives further than 80 miles or so from the theme park in question wouldn't be able to use a "mainstream" electric car (Leaf, Focus, etc) to get there since it would go flat before arrival. For example, I wouldn't comfortably be able to drive a mainstream EV from where I live to Hersheypark and back even with twelve hours of charging at the park - neither would someone from Philadelphia. Installing them at Disneyland makes sense because Disneyland is less than 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Even if you only stayed at the park for several hours you'd have plenty of charge to get back home. So I think it's kind of tricky to figure out how many people are actually driving their electric cars to parks, at least right now. -
What coaster do you think will get scrapped next?
A.J. replied to YOLO's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously? You'd rather have an awful slab of asphalt in place of a(n apparently subpar) roller coaster? I understand that you don't like it but it still continues to operate reasonably. -
Most INTENSE Coaster Moment?
A.J. replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This hill, right here. The last airtime hill on Skyrush along the pathway. This is the airtime hill that makes grown men cry tears of joy or immense pain depending on their tolerance. I'm not quite sure what mine were the first time I rode. -
Tivoli Gardens Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like this a whole lot, both in idea and apparent execution, and I absolutely agree with this: I really like the idea of urban amusement parks such as Tivoli Gardens being sort of community hubs for the cities they're built in. I think that as the city evolves, so should the park - it's totally possible for a place with such a long history to be able to embrace its past while subsequently continuing to move forward. -

Bad coasters that have a glimmer of hope
A.J. replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe they just need to tune the mid-course brake back a bit. I could have sworn that I saw a retro on-ride video once of one of the Giovanola hypercoasters where the mid-course brake only slowed the train down a little bit and the second section looked intense and terrifying. -

Also, one thing has come up... I think that we may have a case of double usernames. Check out these threads... Old thread - http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1499014#p1499014 New thread - http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1514527#p1514527 I got on the SpartanPidgeon user's case because they would continually make new threads for project updates, but I never banned them because they -generally- got the idea and cleaned up their act. But now, a new project with the same name and pretty much the same coasters as the old project has come up under a different user. I can't prove that the users are the same because their IP Addresses are different. But I smell something fishy. Any ideas? -

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oooh, I disagree with that. I went on Saturday the 11th (half-price was on the following day) and the waits for the majority of the attractions were terrible. We couldn't get on Sky Rocket because the queue was over an hour long the entire night. Phantom's had to be a half hour at least, even after they put the second train on. Exterminator's was just under an hour. Don't even get me started on the haunted walk-throughs. On a normal day this isn't a huge deal but when the park is only open for five hours, making sacrifices is required. Keep in mind that the attractions' queues close fairly early so that the last people riding get off when the park closes. -

Jack Rabbit is such a great coaster, it's probably my favorite out of the three wooden coasters at Kennywood. -
If you don't have a Mac that supports Bluetooth LE, 10.10 is pretty much just a visual / security update. It certainly looks great and runs in pretty much the same manner as 10.9 on my old Macbook Pro which is good. The new iWork apps though - dreadful. Any version of Office past 2007 can open DOCX, PPTX, etc but Pages 2013 can't open up a simple document made in Pages 2014, even though they share the same extension? Inexcusable. It makes it difficult to work on the Macs in the labs and studios because they won't get updated until most likely next calendar year. Adobe InDesign is also guilty of this but that's Adobe's fault, not Apple's.

Roller Coaster Roulette
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ooh, I got a pretty good set. Expedition GeForce (500) Gravity Max (300) Space Fantasy (200) Phoenix (300) Olympia Looping (200) Total score of 1500. I would be ecstatic if these five were all in the same park. Such a great selection. -
The concept art makes it look different though. Are there only two or three cars on those trains?

NEWS: Wet/Dry slide forPlopsa Coo (Belgium)
A.J. replied to Beeja's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems as though wet / dry water slides are still pretty popular, at least over in Europe. That set looks pretty cool! -
Honestly, Morgan was really smart to have come in and redone Steel Phantom. Those Arrow-ish trains and their wacky sideways lap bars that don't really get snug on your lap let you get crazy airtime over those hills. I haven't ridden closer to the back so I wonder how that double-bump is like there. Must be crazy.

Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread

That's what's so great about the area for entertainment - there's just so much appeal to so many different audiences. -
Phantom's Revenge is nuts. You watch on-ride videos and you're like, "looks like great airtime" but then you ride the thing and you're like "this is startling airtime".

Here's some advice - get started with your project before you make a thread for it. I'll be closing this thread if you don't add any screenshots soon.
