  4. Day 4: Big Sur The original plan for this trip did not involve San Diego and included getting all the coasters in before my daughter's passes expired December 31. That plan included 2-3 days to drive the PCH from SF to LA. That plan being shot by Holiday Bowl, I still wanted to at least drive through Big Sur. I highly recommend a drive through this area, and hikes if you are so inclined. We did an out and back drive of about 100 miles overall from Monterey to Big Creek Bridge. Absolutely gorgeous! We stopped a Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to check out some redwood trees. Water was up due to all the recent rain We stopped in Monterey at Alvarado Street Brewery for a delicious dinner (crab mac 'n' cheese for Mags, wings and a Mai TaIPA for me) We rested well that night preparing for Golden Gate Bridge, SFDK, and CGA the following day.

  5. My family and I were at Boardwalk and Baseball (as Circus World) around 1980. I was a little tyke, and couldn't keep my eyes off of the shuttle coaster; we didn't know what it was called but my aunt kept calling it "The Tidal Wave" cuz it was similar to our Tidal Wave coaster back home (we are from Chicago-land). An interesting and vivid memory of that day I have... the park was really empty. There was a fun clown, and my aunts and mother rode an elephant (I was scared). Thanks for the video!

  7. Why would it take a year and a half to change over to LIMs and add new trains. That seems like a 90 day refurb at most. But they specifically used the word renovation. That leads me to believe they are doing something much more involved and Monty may have seen it's last days as a simple shuttle loop....I still think they should just turn Jaguar into an Intamin Blitz. Keep the station and theming. You can even use pretty much the same foot print for the most part.

  8. I was able to hit the park today for a little bit. Got some good pictures of the new eatery/brewery. I think it looks great!! They must be tearing down this old building completely to put this up. In addition I was able to marathon Montezumas Revenge for one last time. Still a great ride!!! I hope the launch stays intense!!!

  9. I"d imagine that reopening Montezuma again is mostly because not only did they only give a three day notice, but one of those three days (the last Saturday!) the ride went down all day, so it turned out to be only a two day notice.

  10. Psych!..... Knott's announced on IG today that Zoom is back open "for a limited time", starting today. They didn't say how long it'll be open before its actual closing.

  11. IOA/Studios are some of our favorite parks in the world. And for my not so enthusiast husband, who is always rather ho hum about parks, the first time he got off of Gringotts he thought it was the best ride he had ever been on, and he likes FJ as well (yes he is very GP much to the consternation of my son) And my 76 year old mom clapped and giggled like a schoolgirl the whole time on Gringotts, we made her read all the books before she came. But seriously, everyone is giving you good advice on VC, Hagrids and all the HP rides. As far as the screen based stuff, Spiderman still holds up and do NOT miss the new Bourne stuntacular show. Yes, it's a show, not a ride but well worth your time. We went to it twice in a 24 hour period. Don't be a coaster snob and disregard the non coaster stuff at Universal, they have some great attractions.

  12. March 24, 2018. . . New year New coasters to ride! Today I found myself at Kings Dominion with my coaster buddies to ride the brand new Twister Timbers! Everyone was excited about the opening of what would be Cedar Fairs first RMC coaster! right here. . . They also gave the mouse a new name. . . Lets go. . . And wait! Getting closer. . . I can just taste it. Finally rode it. From what I remember it was fun but nothing to run home about. Enjoy some dated pics stopped at the mac bowl place and ummmmmm. . . yeah im good. 13. I value the knowledge and tips/advice of the enthusiast community but I won't lie, I could never live with yall XD Though hilariously I have been applying to jobs all over, including CA, so watch me end up living by KBF anyway. If so anyone is always free to crash on my couch and beer is absolutely acceptable payment.

  15. New and improved area up around Eagle. I've HATED that janky hidden entrance to such a classic coaster for years now. And for God's sake please tell me they will put up a new sign with all the logistics of the coaster and get rid of the current one that is all faded and unreadable. Also, for everyone to wait and see how operations are before we declare the park is on the way out. Maybe the new CEO is making terrible choices or maybe thinning some positions at the top will smooth things out (if screamscape is right and food ops were under the retail dept that explains a lot) or maybe some things will work and some won't but we won't know what until the season starts. Which according to the calendar is the first weekend in April. A little later than the last few years but if that helps them have more ready for opening day, I'm fine with that.

  21. By skipping those two attractions they would save, at most 30 mins. Please do not skip anything because you never know when you will be back and if the attractions would still be there.

  22. Even if it's dated, I will take the swinging gates opening to show you your first dinosaur as the 'Welcome to Jurassic Park' moment and theme music kicks in over floating round a corner and there's a CG aquarium anyday.

  23. This is Universal. They've already blown this decade's budget on new, original attractions in Asia. The best you'll get is a slightly modified import of an existing attraction or Jimmy Fallon 2. Choose wisely.
