Even after 16 years, Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure proves it’s one of the most intense roller coasters in the world! Watch this ride nearly blow my face off!!! VIDEO:3 points

"Best" and "Safest" don't go hand-in-hand. The Titanic was the best.3 points

I personally get a pack of Yuengling every time I travel East. Might be more of a "thing to do while traveling" than an actual judgment on the quality of the beer.3 points

I never said Dunkin was amazing, I just implied it was better than the overpriced mud-brew that Starbucks peddles.2 points

After seeing the photos of this thing in it's current state I mean... I'm not an engineer and maybe this is irrational but I'll let you guys go first.2 points

Why not just fire the maintenance team and let the internet crowdsource it? Clearly Reddit, Instagram and Facebook have it all figured out.2 points

Hey, what can I say? I live in the heart of a major, east coast, extremely craft beer-centric city. Add to that that Yuengling is local to us and a beer we "grew up" drinking. It absolutely sucks. You know why I even had that swill yesterday? I was having a very stressful end-of-day at the office, and in a moment of weakness recalled there were beers left from our first post-mask-mandate team meeting we had a few weeks ago. I shot up and breezed into the kitchen to rip open the fridge and... all that was left (read: what no one wanted to drink at the office shindig)? You guessed it. There is still half a case there. It won't be easy, but I'll slowly chip away at it whenever I don't feel like trudging two blocks down to the bottle shop.2 points

Fixed that for you. That being said, I love Steel Vengeance, too. Great report, Adam.2 points

“VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The PNE Fair will be returning this summer, albeit in a smaller format due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with some of your favourite in-person activities. This comes close to two months after it announced it would be cancelling its annual event due to the health crisis. However, with B.C.’s restart plan calling for fewer restrictions, including around crowd sizes in outdoor spaces, the PNE says it’s now able to make more plans. “We’re calling it the Fair Fundamentals. It’ll run the traditional Fair dates of Aug. 21 to Sept. 6,” explained Laura Ballance, who speaks for the PNE, who added the event will be closed on Mondays, save for Labour Day.” “And it’ll feature all the most beloved elements of the traditional Fair. The Revel District, with the stage and performances there, things like the West Coast Lumberjack Show, we’re going to have a Comedy Corner. We’re going to of course have the President’s Choice SuperDogs, things like ToonCity.” She says the Agricultural area, “one of the most important and beloved elements of the Fair,” will also be back. COVID-19 restrictions being relaxed “We’re very excited,” Ballance added, noting people should expect the Fair to be smaller than it traditionally is. “We developed a plan that was based on the protocols that we believed would be in place. So we’re focusing it as an outdoor-centred Fair, so the only indoor space will be the livestock building.” On Tuesday, the province announced that B.C. would enter the next stage of its four-part restart plan as planned on July 1. The easing of restrictions will see masks in indoor, public spaces go from “mandatory” to “recommended,” and also relaxes rules around gathering sizes, with outdoor, organized events of 5,000 people or up to 50 per cent capacity (whichever is greater) to be permitted. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.citynews1130.com/2021/06/30/pne-fair-2021-covid-19/amp/ ETA: looking at their Facebook post about the return of the PNE, someone asked about The Coaster - they replied saying they hope to have it open sometime in July. @Nrthwnd1 point

There's video, just shy of 30 seconds, and it's upside down for the entirety of it, while the rest of the ride is not moving, so it's not that. Hopefully it wasn't much longer than that for the sake of anyone caught on it in the heat now, but it definitely wasn't an ordinary ride cycle.1 point

Any shop should be fine. This season (and last), I got my wirstbands: -At KI I did it at the dedicated FL redemption booth. If you're there at opening there won't be a substantial line for the wristbands. -At Cedar Point at the general redemption stand on the left as you enter. -At Dorney at a gift shop in the water park.1 point

I remember a few years ago we were out to dinner with a big group and I had an hour drive home so I just looked at the beer list of like 40 beers and saw that Yeungling had the lowest ABV of anything respectable (see: Not Coors Light) so I ordered that. Yeungling is my boring "I have to drive later so I can't have much" beer.1 point

I do like how they never can make up their mind on this. A few years ago it was "Bring in a bunch of chains / franchises" then it was "Get rid of all of them and make it all our own shit so that we can put it on the dining plan and handle it all ourselves" and now it's "Bring in brands again". It's a cluster...1 point

I wonder if it will debut in this season, at all. It's good IB is taking its time. I might save my first visit until next year when it will surely be up and running.1 point

As someone who is rapidly approaching middle-aged, I find myself in this category more and more. With the initial issues with SV and the locker headache, I wonder how much CF will continue to work with RMC. Consider how stress free B&M's and GCI's are to operate instead of RMC's. B&M's are almost always successful big crowd pleasers, capacity monsters, and reliable. That has to be incredibly enticing for parks. KI's most recent progression was Diamondback, Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. All of them are huge hits, and even enthusiasts rate them well. All four coasters operate consistently, and I've never seen them closed for the day. The contrast is SV, which is an absolutely kickass coaster, if you're into that kind of thing, but it's also been a pain in the ass. I still think CP made a good decision by doing the conversion, but now I wonder how many aged, rough, and unpopular coasters will be demolished instead of reimagined. Again, think KI. SOB and Vortex. There were no attempts to make them 'better.' They just shit canned them, instead. They avoided a lot of potential headaches and it seems to have paid off.1 point

Probably not. On the 15th of this month, only 1 loop was together and half painted. Another loop was starting to go up.1 point

I can second what was said about Twin Oast. We always try to find new breweries / local craft beer when we hit the road for coasters, and we stumbled upon that place 2 years ago. Unreal location, and solid brews. If I remember correctly they had cornhole, chess, a few other games set up out in that yard where those tables are. We will definitely be going back there during our trip this summer.1 point

So nice to see someone else that enjoys Gatekeeper. I absolutely love the ride. As an old man now, I really appreciate the smoother rides, and I think that is why I am a fan of B&M hypers/gigas and rides like GK and Valravn. To me, any seat is good, it feels like I am in a flying chair, and the inversions offer some unique visuals and even some hangtime. I hope they can fix the chain soon as I haven't yet been on it this season. Loved your TR. Those are some great pics. And I need to go eat at that Twin Oast Brewing. Those hand-cut fries look absolutely amazing!1 point

Be thankful. Think of how bad the employee shortage could have been if they had added more rides throughout the past decade?1 point

Great report so far! Man, I miss Cedar Point. I went in 2012, 2014, and 2017 and never had a bad experience. I can't wait to go back!1 point

Wow that photo on Magnum! Hilarious and sad at the same time haha. Glad you had fun. If I visit this year I'll have to add Twin Oast to the itinerary!1 point

This trip has been has been euphoric and torture. It takes SO long to get in the park either by boat or waiting in the painful line to city walk with only 2 metal detectors. Even waking up at 630am isn't early enough. The day is over after dinner thanks to weather and it's so frustrating because the radar willl be clear then storms pop off at any moment. We've been cleared out of so many lines at night we have 4 Velocicoaster passes and 2 Hagrids passes so at least today the last day will be decent. ET has had major issues and so has Rip Ride Rocket so over 4 days we likely won't get on them, bummer. But anyways the rides and attractions are awesome when you get on them. Bourne was really cool! Everyone sends thoughts and prayers to Universal today please let this be a good last day1 point

Visited the park today and it was very busy, but I can happily report that operations were outstanding. Everything was open and running multiple trains. Of course there were a few "Six Flagsy" moments here and there like Bizarro crew getting thrown off their stride by 3 guests coming through the handicapped line and some food service employees who had no clue what a mobile order was...lol but generally everything was very well-run and consistent. Bizarro and Nitro were both running 3 trains, El Toro 2, Kingda Ka 3 and Kingda Ka's crew was fastest in the park. We really liked Jersey Devil and it does a great job of splitting the difference between Nitro and El Toro. The restraints are awkward, though. We got Platinum Flash Pass and Jersey Devil was indeed unlimited on it. Upon arrival, the parking lot was pretty full and it steadily got busier as the day went on. You already know this is the best sh*t ever. If I really want to nit pick, there are some spots on El Toro that could use a little TLC, mostly coming out of the second large airtime hill, the bottom of the turnaround, and right before/after the speed hill. It wasn't brutal or anything, but a little bit headache-inducing when marathoning. But this is still basically the best coaster on the planet. We got one ride on Kingda Ka. It went down temporarily once or twice, but that's the sort of thing you expect with these. The operations were extremely fast and they were cranking out trains and it was running very smooth. Nitro was also running great. Super fast, great airtime, smooth, and they even got new restraint covers so the plastic wasn't all picked apart like in previous years. And we got a few rides in on Jersey Devil. It's still doing the thing where it breaks down a lot, but it's only for like 10 minutes at a time. There's a sign out front saying they're still calibrating it, but it really wasn't a big deal. Sometimes it would come back up and the flash pass would still show "delayed", but the ride attendants would just let us go through. The coaster was great. It wasn't as crazy nor as intense as the clone models like Wonder Woman. But it was still a very intense ride, just much more re-rideable. The elements flow very well together and the transitions are smooth and way less janky that some of the ones on the clone models. The restraints are different and more comfortable than Wonder Woman's, but they still manage to not be that comfortable. The lap bar sits awkwardly on your legs and if you accidentally pull it too tight, the drops can be a little uncomfortable. I think restraint and train design are RMC's biggest opportunity for improvement. It's not terrible or anything, just a little bit awkward. We also rode Skyrush the day before so maybe that contributed. The sea of people leaving the park. Honestly, I'm glad for Six Flags that they were so busy. I really want the industry to recover quickly and there's clearly a ton of demand right now. The fact that the park was so prepared to have a "normal" busy day impressed us. We've had several experiences this year with parks that have been a hot mess, like Busch Gardens Williamsburg basically falling apart on a busy day. I never thought I'd say that Six Flags as a company is handling such a major disruption better than the competition, but here we are. Go to Six Flags Great Adventure, you won't regret it.1 point
