BeemerBoy
Today Six Flags Over Georgia unveiled its newest coaster, Dare Devil Dive to the media.....and Theme Park Review was there for you! A few quick facts before we dive into the pictures (bad pun intended): - World's first "v-shape" trains with lap bar restraints that hold 6 passengers each. - Each train has stadium seating, providing the best view in each seat. - Riders travel up a 90 degree lift hill reaching a height of ten stories. - The coaster's first drop is beyond-vertical, angling in at 95 degrees. - Elements include a diving loop, barrel roll, and immelman inversion. - Top speed is 52 mph. - Total ride time is 2 minutes. Check out the POV and rider cam of Dare Devil Dive! My review of the ride, Page 3 We're at Six Flags Over Georgia.....but you knew that. Hey, that's us. Noted.Sign Flight School - First Course: Dippin' Dots consumption. Sign. She looks pretty good in the early morning sunrise. Not too shabby against a beautiful blue backdrop either. Queue pic. Most of it seemed to be shaded. The coaster has 4 trains: this blue one, a white, and two blacks....each with different graphics. Seats....with LAP BARS ONLY!!!!! Did I mention, "Yay for lap bars only?!?" Another look from the queue. The mist wasn't turned on until later since it was interfering with the on-board video. Geometry fans rejoice. Either the ride speeds up to about 150mph here, OR I may have been unfamiliar with my loner DSLR's settings. You decide. This tunnel will also be filled with mist later on. This part was themed to Madonna. I'm not quite Hanno......and not worthy of watermarks either. FIRE!!!!!! (kinda) Bread bombs? Sunflowers must die!!! This meal was AMAZING!!! Seriously! During lunch we were treated to the debut performance of "Soda Shoppe Sweethearts," who sang your favorite hits of the 50's. As a fan of that genre, I thought they sounded pretty good! It was a nice touch for that part of the park. As you can tell from the background, the stage sits adjacent to Dare Devil Dive. "Awwwww yeah......" Then the white train came out to play. MISTY!!!!!! And TWISTY!!!!!! After several rides on Goliath it was time to grab our swag and head on out. Can we park here all the time, pleeeease? And with that, we'll leave you with a couple parting shots of Goliath. Thanks to Six Flags Over Georgia and its employees for hosting a great media day event, and thanks to TPR for the opportunity to cover it for ya! Dare Devil Dive is a great fit for the park, and definitely worth a visit this season.....so get on down to Georgia, ya'll!! Decided to add several more pics from the day. Enjoy. Swimace
Wait a second.... Is this coaster sponsored by Lockheed Martin?!?! Or just the media day? Either way that's badass!

CoasterGuy06
^^ I don't remember seeing the LM logo on anything other than Media Day items.
Intimidator305
Great trip report and photos! Looks like Six Flags has another winner on their hands (What is with them this year? Haha). So now the question is can they make the GL area at SFMM look as good as GL @ SFGAdv, SkyScreamer @ SFDK, and now Dare Devil Dive @ SFOG? Hopefully so! BaMiTsPaT
Cool looking ride! I like the fake fire, but I still don't like the wings on the train. That being said, I'd rather it themed and goofy than not themed and...well... six flags-esque. I like this new direction they appear to be taking. Pure Impurity
Yeah, I saw DDD being constructed back on the park's opening day. ...Unfortunately, the weather that day SUCKED!

BeemerBoy
First post updated with final pics. ^ Great to meet you as well! Is this coaster sponsored by Lockheed Martin?!?! Or just the media day? Either way that's badass! "Six Flags Over Georgia welcomed professional test pilots from Lockhead Martin Aeronautics to experience the new coaster. Bret Luedke, chief test pilot for Lockhead Martin's F-22 Raptor program, was one of the first to sign up. "Dare Devil Dive is as exciting as flying a modern day fighter jet," said Luedke. "From the first drop to the barrel rolls and dives, it's a fantastic ride." (via media kit release) F-22 Raptor pilot, Bret Luedke, who was onboard the first "official" train launched today. cfc
Was thing thing suppose to pause before the drop? Er, what what? Great report, Scott. I like the Eurofighters, and I'm looking forward to riding one with a lapbar.
jarmor
Dare Devil Dive's mission begins as you're pulled straight up to the sky on a special vertical chain lift, then slowly roll to the top of the tower nearly 100-feet in the air. After an agonizing pause at the crest of the summit, you plummet downward at an angle that is beyond straight down — it actually angles inward at a blistering 52 mph. cfc
^Thank you for defining what you meant by "thing thing."
SharkTums
^^I'm guessing it's just marketing speak for the brief pause all Eurofighters have as they crest the top. Not an actual holding brake.
Skycoastin Steve
I still think it's hilarious they named thing thing after the Skycoaster.
jarmor
^Thank you for defining what you meant by "thing thing." Oh crap lol I didn't realized my fingers did the thinking thing on their own lol. I meant "this thing" ^^I'm guessing it's just marketing speak for the brief pause all Eurofighters have as they crest the top. Not an actual holding brake. So I guess Mystery mine is the only "true" pausing before drop euro-fighter?
CoasterGuy06
There ARE a set of magnets at the top of the drop, but I did not feel them on the ride.
atem122
Its drop has trim fins on it...I'm guessing those are the "pause." Idk if all Eurofighters have trims at the top or not, but I'd put my money on that. Edit: ^He beat me to it.
coasterfreak101
Man, I hate this ride's layout. I can't describe it, but this one and Anubis just really bother me! I do love how the new lifts/top-hats look, though. It kind of makes the Eurofighters look like more sturdy, permanent rides!
Skycoastin Steve
^How can you hate a layout if you've never experienced it personally?
coasterfreak101
I'm not saying the layout doesn't ride well - I just don't like the layout itself. It just doesn't flow to me - I'm sure I'll get jumped on for thinking I'm better than the designers at Gerstlauer or something, which I certainly don't. I just don't like these layouts, how the elements are connected, etc. Not saying that they're bad rides at all, because that I certainly can't know until I've ridden. cal1br3tto
I like the look of the trains, especially the wings! The theming looks decent too. I'm hoping to ride this soon!
DavidHope
It looks like SFoG has another solid addition to their Coaster Lineup. What makes Triple D even better is now 4 of the Best Coasters at the park are within the same line of sight.
Ace Of Spades
Dude, that was some great footage/pics, and you're a fantastic camera presence (the Matt Lauer thing had me cracking up)! It also looks way faster than the offride footage from a while back! Thanks for the update!
