Canobie Coaster
I'm really looking forward to trying it this summer. I've always liked Canobie's Untamed, but just wished there weren't OSTRs. Hydrus was able to get rid of the OSTRs and looks to have an amazing setting.
larrygator
Hydrus is a nice addition for such a small footprint. The lift hill was real slow and everyone I rode with felt a little light headed going down the drop. I loved the pace of the zero-g roll (or whatever it is called) I do question the actions of the ride operators. The first time I boarded in the second row and after they locked the restraints they had to release the restraints saying there was a problem. They made all of us get off and board the other car, sending the first car out with no problem. It was apparent that one guest in the front row was super sized. We all board the next car and the same thing happens. The ride operator tells us all to go down to the photo booth and wait for him to come down and refund the ride (put points back on the Fun Card that everyone has to use). As we get to the photo booth they send out the next car (the original one we got out of) with 8 people. Now it is apparent to me that there is nothing wrong with the car or restraints and the ride ops just didn't want to tell the woman of size that she was too big to ride. So I get back in line and when I get to the station the ride op just nods at me and lets me through the turnstile without saying anything. Now I get that they might not have wanted to shame someone, but it could have been done tactfully, without inconveniencing everyone else, especially since two of the four ride ops were very large people also. Canobie Coaster
^ The inline twist/zero-G roll is my favorite element outside of the drop on these eurofighter coasters. Wow that's a really frustrating way to handle a guest who couldn't fit.
I Like Theme Parks.
I was at the park on Saturday for the ACE Seaside Screams event. There was ERT on Hydrus, and we also got to go in the Skycoaster area to get a group photo and get a nice view. They also gave us an unexpected tour of Hydrus. I went with my friend who's not that into coasters and he had a good time as well. Including ERT, we only rode things for one hour, but we got a lot of Hydrus rides and a few flats. Air Race and Shore Shot were closed. The operations were actually really impressive, but I doubt they have such a nice and energetic staff all the time. It was really a great visit, and I'll post some pictures or videos today or tomorrow maybe. Rides: Hydrus x 10 - Wow, I was totally surprised by this! I knew it would be good, but it really got better the more I rode it. The drop has insane airtime of course, the loop has very strong forces AND great hang time, and the cutback gives you a great view of the beach when you look to your left when you get near the inverted part (I was skeptical if a cutback is really an inversion, but it really felt like one). The next turn is quick and snappy, the heartline roll totally rules and dumps you out of your seat, then there's one more quick turn and even some floater air going into the brakes. The trains are comfy, and it's super smooth. The location is obviously great. I'm glad the park has this! It's a perfect fit. Super Storm - The restraints can be really painful on your legs if you're fat like me, but the forcefulness and hang time are definitely worth it! DILinator
I'm going to be to be in Seaside Heights in a few weeks, and will be checking out Hydrus for sure! How much does it cost per ride, and are there any discounts for multiple rides, or all day wristbands, etc...? Thanks!
michaellynn4
^ Hydrus is 10 tickets, which equates in most circumstances to $10. However, there are a bunch of specials that the park runs during the week. You can find a breakdown here.
DILinator
^Thanks! It seems like Monday's special of half-off credits would be my best bet, assuming that they don't count Monday the 3rd of July as a "Holiday". Either that, or Thursday the 6th's Midnight Madness would give me tons of Hydrus rides, many at night, for potentially even less cost. That may actually be better than the Monday option! AmyUD06
Quick Hydrus Review: Meh. Yeah, it was forceful enough, and smooth enough, but over FAR to quickly for $10 a ride. You go into the breaks with so much speed it just feels like there should be more coaster to it. "Underwhelmed" I guess is the best word to describe it. Oh well, rode it once, won't be again. Canobie Coaster
I rode Hydrus a few times yesterday and really liked it. The lapbars are amazing. From someone who rides a similar coaster (Untamed) with OSTRs pretty often, I was amazed how much better the ride was. The already great drop had even more pronounced air. And then it was nice not having to worry about my head hitting the restraint on the snappy transitions. I honestly liked it better than Gale Force. I had the wristband (so I didn't focus on the per ride cost as much).
AmyUD06
Finally getting some pics off my phone, so here are some of Hyrdus and the Ferris Wheel I took when I was there. Station/Sign Lift and Loop Another angle Ferris. Looks great and you can see it from the bridge on SR-37 coming in to town.
Canobie Coaster
Those 2 rides really seem to come alive at night with those light packages.
coasterbill
Wow, after our visit last year it's hard to believe this is even the same place.
B&MIntaminGCI
Got to ride Hydrus on Saturday night and it's pretty fun, was my first Eurofighter, I enjoyed it. Only ride I went on because it was after 9pm so they stopped selling the wristbands and I wasn't ever going to pay anymore money for rides I've already been on
Canobie Coaster
^ The lap bars really elevate the ride. If you ride a similar layout with OSTRs, just be prepared on some of those transitions.
michaellynn4
Having been on its "big brother" Untamed at Canobie Lake Park, I can resolutely say the lap bars help elevate the ride substantially. Untamed was fun, but there's nothing like riding hands-up through a zero-G roll with just a lap bar holding you in. I've got a bunch of photos on my phone I've been meaning to upload, maybe I'll do it tonight.
Chris27
Its a cool little coaster, I've ridden it a few times but yeah its def short. They had enough room to add another couple of turns and another roll. If they did that, made it little longer it would be so much better and worth the tickets. 10 tickets/dollars for one ride is alot.
LeoBruz199
^It would've been nice for it to be even slightly longer, but I guess they chose to take a safe route and go for a pre-made (yet slightly modified) layout.

coasterbill
Street parking is generally free if you're not in the first 2 blocks so just park wherever you can find a spot.

Coastinmiller
^ & ^^ thanks for the tips on the free parking, didn't utilize them though as pressed for time. Plan was 7 stops on friday; Bowcraft, Keansburg, I-play, Jenkison's, Casino, Gillian's and Playland Castaway Cove. Unfortunately the scattered t-storms ruined that. We stopped at Bowcraft (closed bc of scattered storms), Keansburg (closed bc of scattered storms), Iplay, jenkinson's and Casino (had to wait 2 hours for storm to go through then pass). On way To Gillian's at 8:30 about to pass AC, saw more lightning south over OC and decided to call it quits. Will now have to accomplish it again this friday. Hydrus is a great addition for the park. Nice small comapct coaster, good elements and people were eating it up. The pier looks good now and less crowded with rides then it was before. I wonder if they'll add more pier along the boardwalk for future additions? Daughter Klaire and my pop John, on right

larrygator
An old favorite is returning to Casino Pier. Another indoor scrambler returns to the East Coast Centrifuge Coming Back to Seaside Heights September 7, 2018 SEASIDE HEIGHTS-Known in local circles as the best ride on the boardwalk to ride after you pounded down a few drinks along the boards or at the clubs, the Centrifuge is coming back. Once located on the far end of the Casino Pier, which has since been destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and removed, the spinning, twisting ride offered a spectacular light show and music. … and here is an inside look of what is coming to Casino Pier in Spring 2019! Our awesome indoor scrambler, CENTRIFUGE, that is making a comeback to Casino Pier in Spring 2019! Who is as excited as us?!? In the 1990’s, the ride gained in popularity as a cult favorite amongst teenagers and twentysomethings. It was at one time one of the more popular rides in Seaside Heights. The Casino Pier announced the ride will open in 2019.
