coasterfreak101
Because we're all fatties, each day starts out with "Mister Donut." The odd thing is last year when we ate here the donuts had "no taste" and now they do. WTF happened?!??! Simple. Missus Donut told Mister Donut that if he didn't make his donuts better, well, you can finish it from here Great updates, great captions, great McD's

chaos
If you think about it, that is the only true family coaster. What should we call all these other so called "family coasters" now that we've seen what a real one looks like?
waterviper
Robb quote: "Labryinth Coaster. Bummed that Jennifer O' Connel wasn't here, but pretty glad David Bowie wasn't either" Hey Robb wasn't her name Jennifer Connolly? Or is that some inside joke of some kind? OMG!!!! Beer in a vending machine!!!! I would be all over that!!! Gota love those Japanese!!! If they had that in the states there would be an officer of the law checking for ID holding a key that opens the cage thats holding the beer vending machine in it. Of course he would be letting one adult person in at a time. Could you imagine the line for that? It would be longer then most rides at the park!! Fantastic TR, pics and vids!!!!! Loving every second of it!!! Continue to have fun guys and gal!!
Jeezus Juice
I guess I'll post in this thread finally! I had no idea that there were this many parks in Japan that I didn't know about! That Tivoli park looks awesome. How is it that a country the size of California can have all these parks AND have them open year round but Vallejo can't see to have SFMW open? We drove by yesterday and all the coasters are sitting there like "Yeah, we run just fine in 65 degree weather, we have no idea why they won't let us run" Awesome pics! Have fun guys! -Don
rollermonkey
One of the main reasons I chose to take orders to Japan was because I knew that Japan is #2 in the world to the US for total number of coasters, and since it's not too big, I figure I can hit many of them before I leave. The bad part is there are so many parks, and so many only have one or two coasters! Chris B (Oh, and I ended up with a wife, too!)
Pelydr
Man, I REALLY need to go to Japan/ China now. Not just for the coasters, of course, it just looks like a fun trip.

If all goes well we should be ridding coasters close to Chirstmas for the first time in NorCal in a few years, (other then SCBB.) BTW great to see the images are fixed, thanks yet again TPR crew. robbalvey
Day Nine: Hamanako Pal Pal aka Togo Death Machine aka "What happens when Manhattan Express and SFGadv's Viper have sex!" Today we hit a park wasy off the beaten path. A place that we had all heard of, but know that not too many people have been too. I'm kind of baffled as to why, because this park wasn't that out of the way, wasn't difficult to get to, and had some really cool rides!!! First off, yes....the "Togo Death Machine." All we knew about this ride is that it had that messed up heartline from Manhattan Express and the "part in the coils" from Viper. We were sure that if we were to ever die on a coaster today would be the day. You can download the POV of "Mega Coaster" in the Members Only section: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7 Well, I'm not sure why Togo coasters suck major ass in the US, but are great in Japan, because this ride was really a lot of fun! If either of the US Togo's had ben like this one, people would LOVE THEM!!!! I'm so confused! I'm beginning to think that Japan is just getting us back for Fatman and Little Boy by bashing apart our American skulls one at a time at $15 a pop on ME! The rest of the park was also very nice. It was kind of a "resort park" right on the water, and even had a cable car that took you to a higher point at the resort. The three other coasters consisted of a bizarre-o ride that looked kind of like a mouse, but most certainly wasn't a mouse, and another coaster that looked just like a mouse and actually in fact WAS a mouse! Imagine that! And then there was a Batflyer. Oh, joy! We did ride one more "Togo Death Machine" but this time it was a flat ride that was part Paratrooper, part Enterprise wheel. Yes, the seats were like a Paratrooper seat, but there was a disc brake on each seat that locked in place when you car got to the top and put you upside down. Coming out of the "loop" the brake released and you swung like a Paratrooper! Weird? Yes!!!! After this park we headed back to Shinjuku, Tokyo and we visited some of our favorite spots....Taito Arcade and of course the "Fishing Restaurant!" Tomorrow we're off to Nasu and Tokyo Disneyland for the Countdown party! Note that there might not be an update for a couple of days because we're going to be at Disneyland from 8pm on Saturday night until about 10pm on Sunday night....yes the park is open 24 hours!!!! Onto today's photos..... I think Elissa is living proof that stupid "Super Size Me" movie is full of crap! "Pita Pan" LMAFO!!! Is this funny to anyone else! I really wanted to order a "Pita Pan and a side of Wendy, please!" The Paratrooper Enterprise wheel....ALSO a Togo Death Machine!!! "Hey Elissa....want to ride the spinning boat ride?" "Hey Robb, want to never have sex again?" "If you ride the spinning boat ride it would totally be worth it!!!" Wild Mouse or "metal trashcan rolling down a hill?" You decide, but we pick option "B" The park had a nice setting. The only thing that would make it nicer would be the water on fire and blood raining from the sky. (so I'm in a morbid mood...sue me!!!) "Gormet Train???" "Robb, get back here! You'll be on that ALL DAY!!!!" Apparently, the "Currito" is the hottest food direct from Californian amusement parks! Really?!?!?! Mark is once again happy, like a teen who stumbled upon dad's playboy collection! "This is the largest person they have ever put on this ride!" And for you PKI fans that will miss the Scooby Doo Ghoster Coaster, this is for you! The layout is about the same size, height, and length as a mouse, but doesn't include any "mouse" elements! First off, it kind of looks like it wants to be Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.... The coaster that "looks like it could be a mouse, thinks it's a mouse, but is NOT a mouse" was pretty wacked out also. We thought for sure that the Manhattan Express and Viper love child would KILL us, but it was exactly the opposite. This ride was awesome! "OMG that was really freaking GREAT!!!! I'm serious!!!!!" Put these two deadly elements today and what do you get? Here's the Viper part....hmm...I wonder which part is the male? Here's the Manhattan Express part.... Quaker looks more than just a little worried. OMG! It's a full dose of Togo Deadlyness! Bet you were hoping you'd never have to see this trains again! "What's with the gay pride staircase to get to the coaster????" If you're a SFGadv fanboy, this should look familiar! "Mega Coaster".....really the only way to describe it is Manhattan Express and Viper had some hot coaster sex and this is was the result! Looks like the park is open and it's time for some Togo Death Goodness! "Wow...that's a lot of snow on the ground! I really hope the park is open...and if it is, why can't those east coast parks be open too, HUH???"
robbalvey
Tokyo Photos.... THE FISHING RESTAURANT!!!!! Where we actually saw someone catch a fish!!!! Remember that starting tomorrow morning, we'll be out for a full 36 hours, so it might be some time before the next photo update. And we'll end today's update with our favorite place in the world..... And you want some porn for your PSP? Well, they've got that too!!! This was in the "Bargin anime porn bin!" "It's a peeing statue....I don't know what to make of it!" Mark, quick, turn into a woman so we can see what's on that forbidden 5th floor!!! The Taiko No Tatsujin drum game characters have their own pachinko-type game! I love how the castle on this building looks bigger than the Disneyland one! Pictures do not do this place justice. It is totally impossible to describe how overwhelming this place is! Hey Mr. and Mrs. Quaker, Mark wants you both to know that he's doing well with the local women! Ahh...back on the street of Toyko...how I missed this place! But....OMFG...that bizarre robotic dancing dog is STILL HERE!!!! Dan, you're never going to beleive it! The Indian Place is closed for the holidays! =( Ahh, now this is a familiar place! According to the weather, the next few days is going to be ASS cold! And what is ASS cold? That's when your ASS is still cold, no matter how many layers of clothes are covering it! Wow! This trip we were actually able to SEE Mt. Fuji! Awww....it's our last Shinkansen of the trip. =(

Nozzy
Awesome, pictures, I love the comments. Anyway, yes I am someone who liked Viper! I must get on that one. From this I've also figured out that everyone else would have loved Viper if they had ridden it in the snow! Oh well looks like it will always be remembered as a horrible painful ride no one except me enjoyed, but with a better offspring. Now if only our parks could stay open in the winter like these it would be so much better. Thanks for taking all the pics and videos.

cfc
So I am going to ask, for the sake of the park, to please stop with the "kids peeing in the fountain" comments. disneygurlz2s
Getting all caught up again and WHEW!! is there a lot to get caught up on! What awesome scenery and funny rides. I have to ask about the temperatures and Robb's comment about "East Coast parks", which I took to mean US parks. What is the temperature there and why do they keep their parks open when we don't? In addition to climate, the US parks have always cited the decline in tourism in the winter months-basically making it not worth the operating dollars to be open. In many of the pics you guys look like you are the only ones there, so I am curious to know how it is financially possible for the parks to be open? Continued fun and safe travels... disneyfan1313
I've always heard (and could be totally wrong) that a lot of the regional parks in Japan are run (or atleast heavily subsidized) by the local prefecture or government. They view it as a way to get people to travel and see their area. Makes me miss Japan sooooooo much.. Stacey and I are considering blowing all our FF miles and going back in January for a fix.... We ate at Mitsukoshi last nite and got all sad..
