Marilyn Manson+Disneyland=Ka-boom Ka-boom

Recommended Posts

I think in the song Ka-boom Ka-boom by Marilyn Manson is making a direct connection to Disneyland or Disney World. Here are the song lyrics.

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

We're a death marching band, peter pan off the wagon

Entertain but never trust anyone sober

We're tasteless but taste good, my (s)top hat's top hat(ed)

Unsafe cheerleaders poun poms and pipe bombs

I won't do it with you, I'll do it to you

I hope this hook gets caught in your mouth

I won't do it with you, I'll do it to you

Don't say no, just say now

I like a big car cause I'm a big star

I'll make a big rock and roll hit

I'd like to love you but my heart is a sore

I am, I am, I am so yours

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

I'd like to la-la-la-la love you

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

I'd like to la-la-la-la love you

I'm the leader of the club, and I've shrugged off my mouse ears

We fly no-class Dumbo jets, and drive hardcore-vettes

We fight war with drugs, and our sex always formal

We wear lawsuits when we get high, high, high

I won't do it with you, I'll do it to you

I hope this hook gets caught in your mouth

I won't do it with you, I'll do it to you

Don't say no, just say now

I like a big car cause I'm a big star

I'll make a big rock and roll hit

I'd like to love you but my heart is a sore

I am, I am, I am so yours

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

I'd like to la-la-la-la love you

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

I'd like to la-la-la-la love you

Inhale exhale, lets all hail

It's a depraved new world

Inhale exhale, lets all hail

It's a depraved new world

I like a big car cause I'm a big star

I'll make a big rock and roll hit

I'd like to love you but my heart is a sore

I am, I am, I am so yours

I am a big car, and I'm a strip bar

Call it fake, I call it as good as it gets

Nothing in this world is real

Except you are for me, and I am so yours

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

Ka-Boom, Ka-Boom

In order, I think these relate to:

Peter pan the ride

Superstar Limo

Mouse Club

Micky ears

Dumbo and

Autotopia

-Taylor "most likely the only Marilyn Manson fan here"

I think you're stretching quite a bit. This is the only line that I think is really Disney related:

I'm the leader of the club, and I've shrugged off my mouse ears

Everything else seems like it's not related. The Autopia/SSL "link" seems more like he's talking about the excesses of being a rock star (having a big car). The dumbo-jet is a play off jumbo-jet.

Yeah, it is close but not close enough.

Ugly Kid Joe did one better. A song called Madman, and it rocks!!!

********note...the lyrics may be a little offensive to some.**********

However, I find it quite amusing (it's only a joke song) like all their songs.

Do you all remember Ugly Kid Joe? You know, that band with the song '(I hate) Everything about you'.

Madman

Verse 1

Disneyland is the place to be, c'mon baby, just you and me;

Hand in Hand, to Disneyland, we go! Not Slow;

Happiest place, in the world 'til the madman grabs a girl;

Hand in Hand, with the madman, she goes! Oh oh!

Chorus

Knife gleamin' no feelin's, axe wieldin', child stealin',

Madman is loose.... in Disneyland (in Disneyland)

Verse 2

Come here little girl if you wanna see, Peter Pan's magic flight on L.S.D.

Up and down, all around, we go! Whoa oh!

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

Madman is loose in Disneyland; He's back here by popular demand;

Madman is loose in Disneyland; He'll take no *hit but he'll take your head!

Slow Riff (Verse 3)

Surprise, Surprise, I'm comin' at ya' live;

I sure as hell ain't Mickey Mouse, I'm a killer in disguise

You can run and you can hide;

But you ain't gettin' away 'cause I got you in my sight;

Axe Wieldn', child Stealin';

I'm a mad *muthatruckin' man and I'm loose!... in Disneyland!

Happy Part (Verse 4)

Have you heard the news, madman sure is loose,

Got you by the noose, have his way with you;

Nothin' you can do, headline in the news,

madman sure is loose in Disneyland.

Disneyland is the place to be, in California, by the sea;

Sunny day, were A.O.K., for now, and how;

*I had to change these lines for the sake of the boards.

Artist : Ugly Kid Joe

Song : Madman

From : As Ugly As They Wanna Be. and it also appeared on Americas Least Wanted (Madman '92 remix).

Agreed.

The song seems more about how people are becomming more open and less innocent, comming of age. I mean, all of those allusions could be argued back and forth, and they would make sense in a song about comming of age since Disney is a big part of many childrens lives.

Hmm--this seems to be turning into a "Disneyland References in Rock" thread (not just Marilyn Manson). How about this verse from Warren Zevon's "Splendid Isolation"?

Michael Jackson in Disneyland,

Don't have to share it with nobody else.

Lock the gates, Goofy take my hand,

And lead through the world of self.

NO DOUBT LYRICS

"Tragic Kingdom"

Once was a magical place

Over time it was lost

Price increased the cost

Now the fortune of the kingdom

Is locked up in its dungeon vaults

The castle floor lies in traps

With coiled wired set back

Decoyed by old cheese

Now the drawbridge has been lifted

As the millions

They drop to their knees

They pay homage to a king

Whose dreams are buried

In their minds

His tears are frozen stiff

Icicles drip from his eyes

The cold wind blows as it snows

On those who fight to get in

On heads that are small

Disillusioned as they enter

They're unaware what's

Behind castle walls

But now it's written in stone

The king has been overthrown

By jesterly fools

And the power of the people

Shall come to believe they do rule

They pay homage to a king

Whose dreams are buried

In their minds

His tears are frozen stiff

Icicles drip from his eyes

Welcome to the tragic kingdom

Cornfields of popcorn

Have yet to spring open

Have they lost their heads

Or are they just all blind mice

We've heard all their stories

One too many times

Hypnotized by fireflies

That glow in the dark

Midgets that disquise themselves

As tiny little dwarfs

The parade that's electrical

It serves no real purpose

Just takes up a lot of juice

Just to impress us

They pay homage to a king

Whose dreams are buried

In their minds

His tears are frozen stiff

Icicles drip from his eyes

Welcome to the tragic kingdom

Cornfields of popcorn

Have yet to spring open

we're all part of the dope show.....

If you are quoting "Dope Show" your lyrics are a bit off on a few key words...

Aside from that, I love MM like Wes said, I think you are reading way too into the song's lyrics. Yeah, I do see one or two references to Disney, but I think that is less of a literal meaning and more of an emphasis on what Disney symbolizes.

Marilyn Manson is a perfect example of some one who can't sing or write music and still make millions of dollars creating ear grating noise. He said he wass the cutting edge for music, but I found it completely unoriginal and annoying. Still, I did think the pink police uniforms in the Dope Show video was amusing.
