australianalex Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This has to be one of the most picturesque rides out there!
Ed Farmer Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This is using the second-generation trains, I presume?
coasterfreak101 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 ^Answered just a few pages back, and yes, it is.
egiptologo Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 New helix section added, more photos at: www.pa-community.com/p/port_aventura/atraccion-2012/fotos/
Lamoure Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 HOLY SHAT I just booked my plane to spain april the 30th
ernierocker Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 The upward and downward spiral helix thingie sure is a brilliant-looking design!
Dragon Khan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 HOLY SHAT I just booked my plane to spain april the 30th I don't want to discourage you, but the coaster might not be open at that time... I'm afraid it's scheduled for the end of may is everything goes as planned. (Reason I booked my trip for the end of august...)

Dragon Khan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Most parks will be, so even withouth Shambhala, enjoy almighty Khan and why not Bacon too...
coasterfreak101 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Man, I wish they were this gutsy back when they designed that giant, drawn-out helix for Apollo at BGW!
Dragon Khan Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 ^you're right ! this element nearly looks like Kumba's first drop from certain angles, once upwards, then downwards. It might be quite disorienting if taken at a decent speed !
australianalex Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 and why not Bacon too... Mmmm... Bacon This ride really looks better and better with each update and that twisted helix, curvey non-inversion inversion thing looks awesome. This will definitely be one of the best B&M Hypercoasters to date. The only thing that could kill it is if its infested with trims, but from what we've seen there don't seem to be too many (fingers crossed). Judging by the fact Portaventura seems to like intensity on their rides and hate brakes (Dragon Khans MCBR barely even slows the train) I have high hopes.
cal1br3tto Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm looking forward to seeing that helix complete, and seeing some trains run through it, too. What a neat design.
egiptologo Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 This is the actual skyline of the park, original photo from PA-COMMUNITY:
dubbis Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 ^Awesome! Epic! Are they behind schedule or "on track" with this baby?
ernierocker Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 How come the drop tower is crooked on top? There. I got that question out of the way for the week.
egiptologo Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 More photos of this morning, visit: www.pa-community.com/p/port_aventura/atraccion-2012/fotos/ for see more pics.
PhantomNick Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 ^ Agreed! That last picture of it just looks so amazingly.....funky! I love that it's not the more common hammerhead-type turnaround or even a standard helix. Truth is, this whole coaster has really caught my eye as construction has progressed! I really like the look of the hills that are done, and the colors look quite slick too. Admittedly, it will be quite a while before I ever make it over there, but if and when I do, this park has got to be tops on my list for Spain!!
coasterfreak101 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 From here on out, if we ever want to refer to "the funky Shambhala helix thing," how about we just type an ampersand? Like, "Hey, that ride could really use an &!" Because they look exactly the same!
SharkTums Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 So the one thing that's kind of sad, it really dwarfs Dragon Khan...I mean it makes it look like a toy! So sad!
