Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Only 21 days until the New For 2016 Announcements! Its weird how hush hush the park has been so far with Fiesta Texas already dropping clues and such

Is there much to discuss at this point? Nothing really happening at the park which would indicate anything for next year.

At this point, there are really 4 areas of the park that need to be "re-imagined"

1. Area surrounding Ninja / Joker's Inc. / Empire Theater

2. Area around Miss Kitty's Saloon / Excalibur / East of BBNP

3. Tidal Wave area

4. Midway by American Thunder / Log Flume

If those 4 areas could receive some place-making (ESPECIALLY THE FIRST AREA) I think the park would look pretty great.

Personally, I feel they should just go ahead and completely retheme the Backlot Area to Gotham City. You already have 2 Batman themed rides. Put in a couple more flats (heck do what SFoG did this year), rename Ninja and you really got something. A few coats of paint here and there, some new signage and you have a whole new area that is extremely marketable - especially with the new Batman/Superman movie coming out. Shoot - you could even turn the store into a Batman and Villains meet and greet area.

Ok I am going to run with this idea...

Harley Quinn Spinsanity (tilt a whirl) to be placed where Axis Chemical Arcade currently is (can utilize the building or remove building completely.

Two Face Flip Side (super loop or similar mega ride) locate at the end of the dead end street by Joker's Inc. (it would be placed

Gotham City Crime Wave (wave carousel swings) to be located where Turbo Bungie was. Utilize the Lemon Chill Stand in Batman queue as operator booth.

Mindbender (retheme of Ninja to Riddler)

Obviously, the rest of the land would need a retheme too (stores / food) but I think it would be a great move for the park

^ Love your idea about a Gotham City retheme and addition ideas! That would really bring great life to the park, and very marketable. As far as your ideas for areas that need improvement I agree on all of them except for the Excalibur area. I feel that area is fine as it is at this point.

How long has the old lemon chill stand been unused?

I'll put it in to perspective. I have visited 5 Six Flags parks this season (SFFT, SFoT, SFGAm, SFoG, and SFStL). I live closest to SFStL, yet I went almost the entire season before I visited it - why? - because it pretty much sucks. I've already decided that unless there is something major added next year (or something major added at a SF park in route to where I am going next summer) I'm not bothering to renew my pass and I've had a SF pass for over 25 years straight.

The park doesn't even feel like it's trying any more.

I don't know who this a**hole thinks he is...But I like him...

Was digging around the Internet and found a picture of the Ninja's original color scheme, although I don't know exactly when it was taken, it makes me curious as to why they changed it to black and white, although the latter is what I prefer

I hope SF Local and Corp Mgmt read these posts... pretty much somes up SFSTL perfectly.

I agree our park is not getting completely ignored and I know it has improved, but it has got such a long way to go.

I do agree with like 60% of all the things he said, but I don't really think it was a fair or perfect view on the park in any way considering he declined to acknowledge Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, or any of the big or current changes and efforts that the park is doing to really clean up after themselves, including how much more of a well-kept and pretty park it is now compared to the Shapiro days and the Bankruptcy issues. Not that the mentions of unshaded asphalt and all that aren't true, especially the parking lot, but its a sigh of relief compared to the bomb testing grounds it used to seem like with a bunch of potholes and rubble everywhere

From my understanding it just seemed like he was avoiding all mentions of what's actually really good about the park and kinda focused on the negatives, which is alright I guess, but if you're making a serious review of a park like SFSTL it has to be a two way street. Thats why I'm sure this is a big kick in the crotch for people that actually understand the going-ons and check back frequently to this forum to see what's happening, because Dave and the crew really are making a deep conscious effort to better things for the long-term, and I applaud that. Events like Fright Fest really show that they aren't afraid to 'Go Big' <-(Heh) and really wow people with what they can do and I think that'll be a recurring vibe as we watch the park evolve.

I'm just saying that I will keep going because it's not a horrendous park by any means, and even though most of my early memories are going here, it doesn't influence my view or blind me from the truth, because I know that the park is still in it's 'just-over-average' stage and has a long way to go in terms of really becoming the park that everyone wants, but as it stands now, SFSTL is a fun little park that I'm happy to call my home park.

^sounds like you have you blinders on

He probably didn't mention JLBFM because the ride was down when he visited. It just recently reopened you know. I guess he could have been like "they refuse to even keep their new stuff working"

He didn't mention the upkeep because no one comes to the park to admire new paint and a lack of chug holes in the parking lot. General upkeep should bd happening regardless if an out of towner noticed or not.

Earlier in this same thread I posted basically the same review of the park. I personally don't even feel it is operating slightly above average, it will take a lot of work to get to that point.

They could start by not trying nickel and dime the guest to death once they enter the park.

His review isn't too harsh but I have to disagree with some of his complaints. The park's front half has lots of unshaded areas, yes, such as Backlot, DC Comics, and the front plaza. However, I don't think there's anywhere in the park that you can't walk 50 feet and find a shady spot or AC building. The back half of the park is extremely shaded. Then again, he had just come back from SDC and WoF which do have a lot more shade. However, SFSTL still has more shade than most parks, even Cedar Point.

I actually have loved every one of my rides on the Boss this year. I have ridden in the back, and yes, the laterals throw you around, but I've been on way worse wooden coasters. I guess it may just be too much for some people, though.

Also, he acts as if SFSTL is a neglected park and that corporate should just let the property go. No, we don't get as many coasters as SFMM, but I think we still have a decent lineup, and we've gotten JLBFM, which some people may not care for, but it's still a big investment for the park.

Because it hasn't been mentioned recently, three refurbished train cars are now running.

Also, this should be a great week for the park to begin working on a lot of things that can't be worked on during full time operation. One of these things has to do with a big present that was sent received from SFOT...

On an unrelated note and in case anyone cares, I am happy to say that I have made the jump from Guest Relations to Human Resources. While I will miss a lot about the operations department, I will now be able to work full time through the off season and see a completely different side of the business. With that in mind, if anyone has any interest in working at the park (or knows someone who does), feel free to message me. There are currently positions in foods, rides, and park services, in addition to the Fright Fest entertainment.

A smoking area was removed fairly recently to put in a new drink stand. With 1904 Hot Dogs being busy sometimes, this will help take care of those in line who just need a drink refill.
