I took a long trip to SFSTL last night, and in short, here's what I've collected:

Batman was repainted, but the paint has already worn a lot on the track, as it if was missed.

They still have that billboard between Panda Express and Johnny Rockets that closes down that shortcut.

The Boss got retracked in the helix, and OMG it is much smoother (for now).

I witnessed the Mine Train break down. Ninja broke down as soon as we got to the park, and was down for a while on the MCBR.

Screamin' Eagle and Superman broke down, but reopened quickly.

The Boss only ran two trains even though it had and hour long wait, and Superman's West side was down like it always is.

Why do they have the fence that blocks the view of the Mine Train? I would like to talk to Dave about opening up that view. And call me crazy, but what about Timberliners of the Boss. In theory, besides for financial reasons, could this be do able?

Stress wise, it should be lighter. I rode Boss in the lead car, and you can feel just how loose the G trains are on it, jolting to side to side on turns. Timberliners steer themselves, but are heavier. I'm sure they would make a huge difference and STL have a VERY open view, which is why they didn't run PTC IMO (The G trains were the only ones who offered an open front at that time).

Let's be honest here, Timberliner retrofits don't have a very good track record. Hades 360 is rough as ever, and Holiday World completely cancelled their retrofit after almost five years of work. Even the millennium flyer retrofit to Gwazi has not helped. Additionally, Six Flags St. Louis has a huge stockpile of Gerstlaur train parts from Twisted Twins and Mega Zeph. Re-tracking and re-conditioning of the trains would be a more sensible fix. A full topper-track replacement could also be a good option.

Agree. A Timberliner retrofit would only work out if the Boss received a complete retracking and ledger adjustment to basically make the ride new again. Timberliners are very submissive to the track that they run on and running them on roughened track would only make the ride rougher as a result (hence Hades 360). Buying new trains and essentially completely revitalizing the coaster probably outweighs the cost of the park continuing to use the Gerstlaur trains it already has and just retracking bits or adding topper track to save on maintenance costs.

^Imagine if the straight after the drop was turned into a fast, close to the ground heartline roll like Furius Baco's

RMC Iron horse will do the job. Will also make the layout even better than it is.

Just getting the topper track would improve the ride 100%.

Tsunami Soaker is basically done (there are some pictures on twitter from this past weekend), all of the wraps have been added to the ride to give it a barrel like theme, it still doesn't really look like it belongs in the area, but I wouldn't say it looks terrible, just odd. Employee's can ride it after the park closes this Saturday May 17, Media Day is May 22, season passholder preview day is May 23 and it opens on May 24 to everybody.

Hey, my school will be there on the 23rd and I'm a passholder. Do I just flash my season pass to ride?

I've thought about that, but I'm not sure how that will work with the forces and speed coming out of the first drop. I also wonder about the stress on the structure and the trains. If anybody remembers, they had to take a heartline roll out of Maverick at CP for putting too much stress on the trains.

I've yet to get NL2, but on NL's I've been working on what I think a Boss re-mod would look like. I try to keep everything as realistic as I can. Coming out of the first drop, I elevated the track and turned that straight into a big time airtime hill. It pulls some -1.2 g's, which I think is pushing the legal limit? If I ever decide on a final design that looks and feels realistic, assuming I get NL2, I'll transfer the design and post some screens shots of it on this thread. Who knows, RMC and SF might beat me to the punch.

That's ashame. I think with a bit more thought and care it could fit within the 'theming' of the surrounding area. Lately it seems like they just are throwing rides at the park without much thought or creativity. It is a very good thing they finally removed the old barrel ride.

^ I've never been there but I found a picture online. It's not too bad

Tjat is not really a good picture of it. You see Hurrocame Harbor, Batman, and Sky Screamer but you don't see it in that pictures cause of where it was taken.

It's nice, it's just missing one thing....

I think that the park has one of the coolest skylines as seen from I-44. Make sure that while driving away at night after the park closes to check out the ferris wheel that turns into a giant clock. Have a great time!
