piedude81
We have already left the park for the day. Honestly it had to be one of the worst experiences I've had at any theme park. ..like geagua lake was better. I've been coming down from Chicago for St Louis' opening day for the last 10 years, this was just foolish. Half of the rides were not open. The ones that did open were only half functional. The burger I got from Johnny Rockets was cold and wet. meh. over it. Tradition = Broken Almost makes me glad I didn't go. Was it crowded?

As someone who absolutely loves his job at the park, I do take things like this extremely personally. I know that there is nothing we can do to fix what happened today, but if you go online and contact Guest Relations through an online comment, we would really appreciate it. Thank you for your past patronage, and I hope you can come back in the future, giving us another chance. I sent you a private message if you could care to answer it. -Josh
Woodie Warrior
Why were only half the rides opened? Hopefully they'll have the problem fixed soon since I'll be going tomorrow. But Opening Day is rough at almost any park, so I'm sure SFSTL knows what went wrong and is doing their best to correct it.
Zcev5454
Hmm... The only rides that I encountered as closed were Boss( too low temps in the morning), Boomerang, and Tidal Wave/Thunder River( seasonal attractions).

If you really loved the park, you'd be able to see past a less than 10% failure rate... ESPECIALLY on opening day.

I'm pretty sure JR was very busy, and maybe they just weren't ready for opening day. Like it was said, one bad expiry emcee shouldn't ruin you tradition. megametal
Actually, from my experience, it is one of the better parks in the chain. Out of the Six Flags parks I've been to, it was the nicest one with the best staff.

theymitbgi
If one bad experience ruined my tradition, I don't think I would celebrate Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving with my family.

Out of the Six Flags parks I've been to, it was the nicest one with the best staff. Have you been to SFGAm? I believe it's better. You should try it! And I meant in terms of rides and preparedness of the park. Yeah, I've been there too. Spent two days there. It was a great park too, but doesn't have the same feel. Also, guest relations there was horrible. They backtalked a lot of people while I was in line there to tell them my friend's car would have to be left in their lot overnight. (He lost his keys on Superman, because he forgot to put them in the zippered pocket he had.) Someone was trying to find their lost child and were told to wait their turn behind people wanting to know about lost phones or security would be called. Very pushy staff, impatient staff there. They were fine to me, but I lost respect for them after the security woman wouldn't let the guy with the lost child have priority. As for rides, I think St. Louis has a great selection. 3 great wooden coasters there. Great America has only 1 great one. (Those trims on American Eagle ruined the ride for me. No airtime either. Felt sluggish after the helix.) The only disappointing coaster St. Louis has is Viper, and it's not too bad. And the park has shade, which Great America doesn't really have except around Demon. I reiterate that both parks are great, though. St. Louis also isn't as crowded. Ride operators were great at both parks. St. Louis should be open after dark, though like GAm is during weekdays. Both have stellar waterparks as well.

Tradition = Broken I avoid going to park on opening day as most of the reports that I have read from parks like SFGA, SFNE, CP, etc...they all seem to have some struggles getting all of their rides to properly function. Not all surprised to hear about some of their rides having issues...just do a search on "opening day" and I'm sure you'll see a lot of reports from different parks about coasters breaking down or rides being down all day. Seems pretty logical (especially as a coaster enthusiast) to expect that.

In my opinion it was a great addition to the park in a great location of the park. Six flags stl still needs a stand out steel coaster though... Maybe next year? Vonni
I'm glad to finally see some pics! It looks like the Ride platform is a little more South than the Hannibarrels platform was. I was really hoping they would have taken down the old fake movie sets next to the Rail Road tracks, but I can see in the pics that they are still there. Woodie Warrior
Didn't even notice the new paint, I wasn't really paying attention. But speaking of Batman, I thought the queue was going to be shortened. Why didn't they do that? Was it not in the budget? Edit: Other notes from opening day -Boss, Colossus, and Boomerang were closed along with Thunder River and Tidal Wave -The new sports bar was great. The employees were still getting used to the new system, but the atmosphere and food were impressive. Easily the best restaurant in the park. -The new entrance works pretty well. Those who purchased season passes last year just scan their card and walk in, people purchasing them this year scan their fingerprints.
SFSTLFAN
Made the trip to SFSTL on Saturday for first day... Here are some thoughts on our first trip.. 1.. Disappointed that when we arrived about 10:30 alot of the rides and shops were not operating or open. We ended up leaving about 1:00 so it was a very short trip for us. Captain American was calling. 2. Overall I thought attendance early on was pretty good for opening weekend. 3. The new ride seems smaller than what I thought. (could be from the videos). I do agree with whats been said earlier in that it kinda sits in there kinda weird.. It will be interesting to see how they finish this project.. Has anyone heard when the ride maybe opening for sure? I was thinking like years past that it would be Memorial Day BUT while riding the train they said they had heard it maybe open the last weekend in April 4. Employees.. One of the photographers came over and offered to take a picture of the group.. (I usually decline the parks photos) but this time he asked if I wanted him to take a group picture with me included with my camera... This happened 3 more times inside the park also. I thought this was very cool. Overall being the first day and everything I think they employees were very friendly and went out of their way to make being at Six Flags a good expierence. 5. Overall had a good trip even the lack of rides being open.. Wish we could have spent more time there on Saturday but hey we have all season. SFSTLFAN
As far as Season passes and the finger scans.. I liked how they had it setup on Saturday.. The scanners was having some issues with getting reads as we had to actually try several times before the system accepted them. Going forward will we have to present the card and the scan or how will this work. We all have "memberships".
SFZIP
Tsunami Soaker opens on May 24 (Saturday of Memorial Day weekend), all of the media, season pass preview days happen during the week before that. It will very likely be operational long before that, since a couple of weeks ago it was just a concrete hole in the ground, a lot has changed in a short amount of time. I didn't think the info on the train was correct he specifically was saying that he thought he heard it was going to be the last weekend in April.
