If it had great theming (Saw the Ride, London) then a DDD type of coaster would be good, I'd still prefer a transplanted B&M though.

Good theming and the lap bar cars would be best, imagine all the possibilities with the hillside near the Ninja(where the corkscrews are now)! Although, it would be great to get a Giant Frisbee in the place of Xcalibur, which is down every time I visit.

Good news is, Xcalibur has been up and running each of the eight visits we've taken since the "opening" of Boomerang.

Bad news is... EIGHT visits where The 8YO and I STILL have yet to ride Boomerang.

Does anybody know why the Big Bend roller coaster was never erected at the park after coming here for nine years after leaving SFOT? I'm just curious because it looked like such an awesome coaster.

Posted

The reason Big Bend was never built was because by the time it got to SFStl the track was ruined and was sold for scrap metal. Anyway does anyone think its weird that last year there was so much speculation for SFstl and the fact that we knew that we going to get a boomerang, also the fact that we haven't heard a thing from screamscape about our park except for news about the boomerang. My thought is that we are getting something small like a parade next year or it could be something really huge that the Midwest hasn't seen before.

If we were getting something progressive and 'huge' (lol yeah right), you would already see survey marks.

My prediction is that we'll get nothing new for next year. Best case scenario is Batman getting a little off season TLC.

Six Flags is putting a new attraction in every park every year it looks like.

SFSTL doesn't seem to be getting anything big next year.

However, one of those new Aqua Twists would be cool for the park, and apparently SF has trademarked the name. An addition to the water park seems like a possibility too.

I wonder if an Aqua Twist would work to replace the Hannibarrells...

I was being sarcastic but anyway but I think an aqua twist would work well in that spot and I think I would like to see one there and then maybe a hyper coaster the way SF corporate treats our park I never know whats coming every year

(7/22/13) Screamscape sources tell us we may see several Six Flags parks add Aqua Twist wet flat rides in 2014. I’m told that the first one just installed at La Ronde for 2013 (a Mack Twist ‘n’ Splash) has been quite the hit for the park. Adding more fuel to the fire, Six Flags has also just filed for a US Trademark for the Aqua Twist name on June 28, 2013.

^^ Just looked up that ride, that looks like and awesome family ride and would be a great addition to many of the parks in the Six Flags franchise.

I would like to see The Boss get some TLC. Rode it once this year and felt that once you hit the helix the ride slowed to a crawl to to mention it's gotten kind of rough.

I'd bet that the next coaster 'addition' we get will be some kind of improvement to Boss. Whether it will be Iron Boss, or topper track, I think SFStl realizes something is going to have to be done within the next few years. A couple different sources have hinted at it. Just don't expect it this year, especially with the recent Texas Giant accident.

If I had to throw out a guess, next year we're going to get one of these Aqua Twist flats, which I think would be nice, and maybe some Batman TLC, since the hand rails are being painted. Don't be surprised if we get the Batman turned backwards for a few months, to accompany the new paint job. The park could do both of these things and still probably withhold some cash for 2015.

^ I think that's probably the most likely thing to happen next year and the year after. If they don't touch The Boss, I could see Ninja being replaced by another looping coaster, probably a B&M moved from elsewhere.

At a Q&A with the park president from Great America, he almost made it sound like another Six Flags park might get Batman Backwards for Fright Fest. It might be St. Louis since that is the closest park. Not sure though because I feel like St. Louis would've already announced it.

I almost wonder if since Mr. Freeze is now turned backwards, if turning Batman backwards would not really interest the GP? Just a thought.

Boomerang was surprising fun to me (it was my first Boomerang coaster). It's no Mr. Freeze, but it is a little bit better than Ninja to me.

Although, the guests waiting in line before me kept going on and on about how slow the ride was. The speeds of the coasters at the park surprise me:

Mr. Freeze- 70 mph

The Boss- 66 mph

Screamin' Eagle- 62 mph

Ninja- 55 mph

Batman- 50 mph

American Thunder- 48 mph

Boomerang- 47 mph

River King Mine Train- 37 mph

Pandemonium- 31 mph

I did not know Ninja and Screamin' Eagle were faster than Batman. American Thunder really isn't any faster than Boomerang.

The other option is that they had 2 different surveys this summer. The first about re-themeing scobby doo ghost blaster and another about adding a kiddie coaster. My guess this is where the moeny goes this winter.

Posted

The survey was to see if Scooby-Doo is losing popularity. If the surveys come back that people still like Scooby-Doo, than the ride won't be rethemed.

But even on non-crowded days, the ride still has a long line.

The ride could themed to Lite-Brite and still have a long line cause of the low capacity.

I'd pick the Kiddie coaster personally.

I'd really hope that SF corp wouldn't give us another used coaster, but it wouldn't surprise me. Either way, I'm OK with the Ninja being replaced. It was a great ride in its time, but it's really starting to show its age. To most people, the pain outweighs the 1980's thrill.

I can see that happening.

^The fact that Boomerang goes "forward and backwards" amazes some of them, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

I lol'd
