Stitch
Python Pit, I just don't see why people drive cross country to ride one of these. It's so rough and I have never had one of the "Great" rides on one that everyone speaks about.
Richard
S:UF, didn't seem to get it...just got kinda bored lol my dads face was amusing to watch though, his first coaster! Probably his last as well, the things that came out his mouth. But um yeh, I just didn't get the hype, it was just an inversion and some boring corners...meh. DragonKhan
^ You sure you're not "DragonKhan" in disguise? --Robb "Who agrees with most people that Nemesis and Grand National are some of the best coasters in the world." Alvey HEY! I haven't ridden Nemesis, but I'm SURE I'd love it! It has all the qualities I like about coasters. Balder on the other hand doesn't. But it's still a great ride and I DO understand why people love it...
slick
Rides with a pointless track design. Take spinning rides for example, or even the Cyclone at Dreamworld. Now that it's not in its original home anymore, it just "has a random helix here" and "hey, let's put the station 12 metres high!" What's up with that? Stick some elevators in and do us a favour! Oh, that and generally SLCs, I mean, they're rough, pokey, and generally don't cut it for me. They're not hyped, and I don't what some parks were on but we're seriously lucky that most major parks don't go "hey, let's build some f**ked up coasters..." Well, most major parks anyway. Gsus
as for woodies, i couldn't say becuase i havent been on too many, just the blackpool woodies (which are all fab) and megaphobia. Although having said that i didn't find gwazi all its hyped up to be. I think it's just that i felt wronged cus it doesn't race anymore. As for steel.........i would say X;/NWO but then again most people don't like it anyway lol
pianojohn
Shivering Timbers for sure. It looks great, but after awhile it was like "are you done yet?" The hills seemed just too high to give you any air time, and it just became a series of drop and climb. The Raven: it looked great, it ran good, but it just didn't do it for me. I was much more impressed with The Legend. Texas Giant: URGH! Not as bad as Mean Streak, but pretty close. It seems that the bigger coasters get (these two, SOB, The Beast, etc) the less likely they will break in and give good rides for years to come. They just seem to get rougher and rougher, and the only solution seems to be trim brakes EVERYWHERE. Montu: sorry, I prefer Alpengeist! I also prefer Top Gun at Carowinds. And the fact that it basically sits in a field does nothing for the theming. At least Kumba has some tall trees around and some nice tunnels (or maybe it's just one tunnel). M_Force_4_ever
I dont get why Cornball placed so high, higer then legend?! personally I thoguht cornball was a fun tight (as in small) ride but not great persay...and also how Georgia Cyclone placed higher then Viper remains a mystery to me, but Viper is one of my favorites
ncf
Nemesis is great; it has short moments of air time, you get thown around the first corkscrew, the helix really pushes you down on your seat, then comes the 0-G-spin that throws you around again, forceful Gs on the loop, light air-time on the bank and then again Gs on the last corkscrew and turn. Nemesis has a lot of variation therefore it is so good. Nemesis Inferno feels totally the same from start to end. No variation at all, feels like your being pushed onto your seat the same way throughout the entire ride. That's why I don't get NI boooring... viking86
Colossus @ Thorpe park. Many people seems to love it, but I found the layout somewhat uninteresting (especially the second half) and it was vibrating like crazy. The hard OTSR that covers the entire sides of your head didnt excactly make it any better. I dont think Balder is THAT fantastic either. The turns are too slow and a bit boring. Dont get me wrong, I do think its a great coaster with some excellent airtime, but I find it hard to belive that its the best wooden coaster in the world. Still I dont think Liseberg could have gotten anything better in the tiny space that Balder occupies. About the best wooden coaster in the world..... well I guess that totally depends on who you ask
Hercules
Steel: Superman Ride of Steel (SFA)... one great pop of airtime does not make a coaster and a couple of weird spots of straight track and the trims on the finally bunny hops at the end just kill the ride for me. Yet, it was #3 in last years poll. Wood: I don't know. I can see what people are saying about Boulder Dash, but it is still my #1 wood for now. When I first rode it, I was really disappointed. It did get better during the day, but it is just so inconsistant. I mean, rides are inconsistant, but nothing like that ride.
CoasterDude211
I don't see why Thunderhead got so high. I rode it several times and it just did not live up to the hype. It was a good coaster but nothing amazing. It was smooth...but for us, the airtime lacked and we rode it in the front, back, and middle. Am I missing something? No variation at all, feels like your being pushed onto your seat the same way throughout the entire ride. That's why I don't get NI boooring... I agree and disagree there. NI is a great coaster in it's own right. I think the loop is possible more forceful then Nemesis' and i love the inline twist into the sharp right drop. I also think that the end figure 8 helix is quite intense. I also think that the creativity of the ride layout is on par with Nemesis. The 'preshow' drop in the volcano through the mist, the s bend over a stream after the second cork, the 2 water jets in the lake under the loop all give the ride 'experience' something to cherish. IMO, i think that both rides are great and on par in most places, however i'd say nemesis gets a few more notches on the rope becuase of the intense helix, slightly better execution with themeing and terraforming. NI is let down becuase people keep comapring the 2 becuase a) same type b) same name(ish). Even though my local park is Thorpe, im an Alton fanboy at heart so don't go saying im biased to with thorpe. If NI didn't have nemesis and was say, at a europpean park, everyone would praise it. I have been on a couple of GCI twisters and they just seemed to lack. Of course they were Wildcat and Roar, so that probably had a little to do with it, but from my experiences on those rides I'm kind of scared that I might not like the ride that much myself. I don't see it, but of course, I haven't ridden it yet.

I thought England was in Europe.....hmmmm! Anyway, I agree with you. I think Nemesis Inferno is a very good ride. Smooth and enjoyable, but also intense. If they hadnt called it Nemesis Inferno then people wouldnt have been comparing it so much with Nemesis. It also pretty well-themed and considering the small space it occupies its just more impressive in my opinion.
Gsus
I thought England was in Europe.....hmmmm uuuuuuuuuuuuhhh lol Yes it is, but i thought most people split up the rollercoaster industry into America, Europe, England and Japan. I think England is on it's own becuase it has so many coasters it has its own classification. Although im probably digging my own grave saying this so i'll just shut up lol
SharkTums
Nah, I totally see what you mean. I mean they really are two very different places, especially for visiting Americans. That's one of the reasons we broke up the TPR trip. It wouldn't be right to do some in the UK and then some in 'mainland Europe'. I'd much rather do them as two separate trips. Well this is the "I don't get it" thread which means that a coaster is basically a good coaster, but not for me: "I don't get it!"
ncf
The one coaster I really don't get is Santa Monica West coaster, no forces or speed at all, I bet our dog could stay calm on it

It does what it supposed to do, which is to provide fun for familys
