MSLSM Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 The Ropers have delt another blow to Alton Towers. They had the noise limit lowered to 28 decibals. They have also had the park's fireworks show cut down to 3. The worst part is, is that the Ropers run a factory that makes noise at over 40. Alton Towers was open before the Ropers came in. Sure it has grown a lot since then, but the Ropers had the idea of living next to a park. The new noise limit is insane. No major entertainment venue can work under a 28 decibal noise limit. http://towersalmanac.com/index.php?page=news&id=187
SharkTums Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 More fun with the Ropers: We don't like Roller Coasters!
MattJackson Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Wow. I did NOT see that coming, Elissa.
CoasterFanatic Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 What do you mean the Ropers don't like Roller Coasters. // Credit Robb
cfc Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a similar problem with Kingsmill, a rather expensive neighborhood (also developed by Busch) on the James River. Anytime BGW develops a concept for a new ride, always expect the folks at Kingsmill to scream bloody murder because that amusement park is going to ruin their quality of life. Apparently, they didn't notice the huge theme park when they purchased their $1,000,000 homes.
cfc Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Stupid Mr. Roper! "Come and knock on our door/We've been waiting for you!/Where the kisses are hers and hers and his/Three's Company, too!" Sad that I know that song, actually. Chuck "Make the 1970s TV flashbacks stop" Campbell
Kroger8 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Ugh Mr. Roper, first it is gay people he doesn't like, now when he moves to England and opens a factory, the amusement park beside him is too loud! Come on Mr. Roper give us a break!
Gnome Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 He needs to be wacked. But I don't see why the city is bending over backwards for the ropers. Why don't people petition to get rid of the ropers?
coasterdude5 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 ^ Ha, that would be funny. I wonder if the park has ever considered putting up sound barriers? (Like on highways) I'm sure they could blend them in pretty well.
ECZenith Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 That really just screams pathetic. Reminds of the crybabies that live near SFNE. The park takes away the speedway, builds a sound barrier... still nothing but complaints.
coasterdude5 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Oh, sorry, I didn't know they had built a barrier.
pagemaster_b Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Alton Towers should turn around and sue the Ropers for their factorying being over 28 decibals. If the Ropers are enforcing a sound limit, they should be following it as well.
zaneymon Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 This goes to show you the World is full of crybabies who complain about the littlest things like noise and they complain about the noise after the park/thing and been open longer than residents have been living where they are now
N'at Man Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I don't know about Mr. Furley either. He's afraid of the carousel. At least Larry likes the bumper cars. Larry! Mr. Furley!
Angry_Gumball Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Alton Towers should finalize the problem and place the fireworks right behind their house and give them some real noise to complain about...maybe it will make 'em deaf.
Token Yankee Guy Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 That really just screams pathetic. Reminds of the crybabies that live near SFNE. The park takes away the speedway, builds a sound barrier... still nothing but complaints. Isn't SFNE in the process of buying out those houses anyway?
Blackie Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Alton Towers should aim some high powered mortars directly at the Roper's house. Give them A real reason to complain. Alton Towers should install A "Whack A Roper Game" You Know, It's "Whack A Mole" with the Ropers heads. I would overpay to play. When I do make it to Alton Towers, I might be packing an Air Horn. I don't mean to sound like A jerk, but these self important hypocrites really make me sick. Thanks for Reading.
zaneymon Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Alton Towers should finalize the problem and place the fireworks right behind their house and give them some real noise to complain about...maybe it will make 'em deaf. Awsome LOL
shesaidboom Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I could understand being upset if someone decided to build an amusement park next to your house in the quiet little neighbourhood you've been living in for severals years. BUT, they moved in knowing the amusement park was there. If they didn't like noise they should've moved somewhere else...and the fact that their factory makes more noise then they are requiring from the park is completely hipocritcal and stupid. Nobody should take them seriously.
deathmole Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Wait ...... TWENTY EIGHT decibel's? LMFAO! I built a PC recently and that was 37 decibel's - and that's really quiet, madness!
davidmorton Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 ^^ Actually that IS exactly what happened - the Ropers were there BEFORE Alton Towers started turning utself into a big theme park back in 1980. Still, the Towers were there (and as a tourist attraction) well before the Ropers were there (but with nice polite 1920s tourists rather than nasty noisy roller coaster tourists). Don't get me wrong, not defending them IN THE SLIGHTEST - bloomin' hypocrites. Why dont they just move somewhere else? "No I love my house" - but they dont love WHERE it is, next door to a theme park. Stupid Ropers. Dave.
Gregory DG Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I love Three's Company, so naturally I love this thread.
