  1. Feel free to ban me for this, but that's a very "dickish" thing to say.
  2. History my friend, history. It was the first theme park in Florida. It has the most renowned ski show in the world. It has one of only three Intamin flying islands in the world. It had one of the most awesome natural sights in the Banyan Tree and the botanical gardens are unmatched. It has a beautiful butterfly house. It has a nice little zoo area. The bird aviary is one of my favorite places to visit! It has a nice paddle boat dinner cruise. It has a really cool train set. It has a beautiful topiary garden. It has a nice little water park that is part of the general admission. It has a large number of kids rides. There are a lot of family shows there, and they also have two or three small thrill rides. But the thrill ride crowd is not who they are marketing to. Which is one reason I think so many people here don't like it.
  3. 27 has been rough in the past, but they're in the process of redoing the entire road between I-4 and Winter Haven, so within a year or two it'll be smooth sailing. (Much of it is done already, its just that frickin' Haines City area that is a pain.)
  4. And just for the record, I pretty much agree with everything Derek said. Although, I think the park will do just fine without some 200 ft hypercoaster. And I'm not sure that's CG's target audience anyway.
  5. Sorry if that's the way you guys interpret it. I'm just trying to support that park and trying to understand all the hatred.
  6. Deleting an account for supporting a theme park where I've said nothing wrong or hateful to anyone? I guess disagreeing with the admins is all it takes to get banned then.
  7. I've never said CG was a perfect park. But it's not 1/2 as bad as some make it out to be. Which post was *I* a dick?
  8. Elissa, I already know you hate CG, you've said so in other posts. And I think one reason is because you think it's taking $$ from Wild Adventures. Weather that's true or not, it's pretty sorry of you and/or others on the board to wish CG to fail. Shoot, in your original trip report you & Rob talked how you expected it to fail and you'd get to see the Disc-O at WA! http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=169 I'm realistic about the park. And it's doing better than it ever has. It's too bad there are so many haters out there. But hey, if you don't like it don't go.
  9. Well, someone has to defend the park from haters. I thought this was a place to celebrate theme parks, not bash them?
  10. Sorry. I must have missed where he said "Round trip" in his post.
  11. Huh? CG is only about 35-40 miles from Disney. (Although Google should send people down 27 instead of going through Lake Alfred...) And it's in between Disney and Busch Gardens. I travel that route all time and it takes about 45 minutes. If you're already traveling 400 or more miles to visit the mouse, it's not that long a drive to visit Florida's first theme park.
  12. Sorry haters! CG is going to come out of Chapter 11 soon... (I don't understand why you people WANT to see it fail...) http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061109/BREAKING/61109015 Anyway, what's this "4-story" building for the kids supposed to be (mentioned in the Orlando Sentinel story)? Shoot, there aren't many 4 story buildings in all of Winter Haven! I'm guessing it's some kind of open air play structure.
  13. I think it'd be awesome to have a new stadium and a new Championship in the same year! Go Cardinals!!
  14. Wow, no baseball fans here, huh? Of course, I'm elated the Cardinals are in the WS again! I hope they do better this time than in 2004! Go Cards!!!
  15. Nothing like bringing back old threads from the dead. Polk County success story Wednesday, July 26, 2006 Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Polk County says it seeing a major jump in attendance, and the park believes a water park it opened late last summer is the reason. Cypress Gardens has made it past the initial enthusiasm of its reopening about 18 months ago, and park attendance is up by 20 percent over the same time last year. Local tourism officials say their research shows the tens of millions the park has spent on thrill rides and the water park, called Splash Island, have been a good investment and should continue to be so in the future. The park is thinking about expanding the water park, but it has set a date for that yet. Cypress Gardens says it had more than 1.5 million visitors last year and it expects to easily exceed that this year. http://baynews9.com/content/36/2006/7/26/170797.html?title=PolkCountysuccessstory
  16. aw come on, its not that bad For me it was. It was the only coaster that made me see a chiropractor afterwards! Any coaster that sends you to a doctor is bad...
  17. ^ Boy, that carpet looks like it was splashed with bleach or something. And that blow up Superman... Looks more like Bizzaro Superman...
  18. Just heard about this on the radio... I'm guessing this person didn't know he had a heart condition. This would be totally his responsibility. BTW, Gwazi is my most hated coaster...
  19. ^^ Spacey was awesome... Routh... well... Just didn't hit it out of the park for me. He wasn't the confident Superman than Reeve was. Hopefully he'll get better when he's teaching... oops. Better not reveal any spoilers (although it's the worst kept secret since the end of Titanic.)
  20. It's funny to see these lists. It's supposed to be the best games of "all-time" not necessarily your "favorite" ones of the last 10 years. Video games have been around since the ~50's, so they're should be some games on everyone's list that were created before 1990. Just like if someone created a "Best Movies of All-Time" there should be more than just movies that were made since 1990, even if you haven't seen them. I would expect to see "Casablanca," "Citizen Kane," "The Godfather," "Wizard of Oz," etc. on everyone's list. Oh well... :-/
  21. Wow, I never thought Premiere was hard to learn. It just came natural to me. But other video editing apps have seemed hard since I'm so used to Premiere now.
  22. I noticed that Nintendo doesn't own www.wii.com though. You'd think they'd have already bought the name from the owner already. Registrant: Willamette Industries, Inc. 3600 First Interstate Tower Portland, OR 97201 US Domain Name: WII.COM Record expires on 10-Aug-2009 Record created on 11-Aug-1994 Database last updated on 01-Jul-2004
  23. Ugh... This name reminds me of "Nuon." It's like naming a sports team after a verb. "Let's call ourselves the 'Crash!'" Wii = stupidest name ever for a game console. :-/
  24. Woohoo! Cards win the first game at Busch III. Keep this in your memory for trivia games: First hit: Carlos Lee First HR: Bill Hall First Cardinals hit: David Eckstein First Cardinals HR: Albert Pujols First HR by a pitcher: MARK MULDER!!!! Go Cardinals!
