cooksta77 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Nothing can go Universal's way with this coaster. All I can say is Fail!
MrX8991 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Is anybody really surprised? This whole ride has been one disaster after another. I could understand if they got the ride built and then had delays due to technology, but all of the problems seem to be in the basic construction of the coaster. I mean, the lift hill issues, the firehouse issue, this banner, the cracks in the welding, this is pretty much just shotty construction. When I was there in mid-July, the other side of the lift hill structure had chipped paint and much of the ride had scratches on it upon close inspection. I smell a law suit of some kind on the horizon.
King_K. Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I wish someone would've remembered to put holes in that banner. Lmao. Oh man, I just can't believe it happened. Especially considering how our state has a big target on it's back for horrible weather and hurricanes.
Duke Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 From a second glance, it looks as it might not have "ripped" but rather came "unclipped". Cant really tell to be exact but i dont see a noticeable jagged rip. It might have just come undone from the clips it was in, seeing as it is not just one giant banner (i think)...who knows, im prob wrong.
King_K. Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Yeah, I noticed that. Since the Banner is actually 3 pieces anchored to the lift. The wind might just ripped them from the clips or might have pulled the clips and banner away from the lift.
4rturo Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Universal should really call a priest 'cause this ride is cursed, but I just hope they don't because this is turning to be quite fun. I can just imagine the face of William Davis. LOL
Homeboy23 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 This happened because I was looking at prices for plane tickets down to Orlando. Blame me.
Ed Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 This is what you get for making rollercoasters with Meccano.
Mr. Starr Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 This ride just seems like a bad joke more and more everyday.
coolcalicoaster Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 ^I still want to ride it! I think its going to be worth the wait.
doom1001 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 That banner looked cheap and flimsy and I didn't like it,maybe they'll consider putting a worthwhile replacement.
King_K. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Couple of new things happening. -Rock work on the base of the Castle is in Full Force. -The Entrance to "Dragon Challenge" is beginning to come together. -Pretty much every building is being built at the same time. The first official piece of facade for the castle has also been installed as shown in this pic and video made by DshYates.
justint87 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The construction is really coming along now. I was at the park on Wednesday and saw them working on the rock work. Pretty soon the buildings and their designs should start taking shape and we'll see first hand how great this place may be.
monsterfan99 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 It is simply amazing it came down. I saw it on Tuesday and it was ok enough. I did not think that a steady FL rain would take it down. The race between this and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is getting closer.
King_K. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 It's been windy like hell as of late. I knew it'd come down if it didn't have any air holes in it...and it did.
justint87 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I did not think that a steady FL rain would take it down. It was no steady rain today. A large thunderstorm move through the attractions area today with heavy wind and rain. I live near the attractions area and luckily made it home from work today right before it started. I remember walking out of work when the storm was moving in and it was very windy. Heavy downpour and gusty once it started where I live. It feels strange how on Wednesday when I saw it for the first time in person I thought it looked great and one day later it got blown down.
coasterfan21 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Maybe this ride really won't open until 2055. Yep, my vote is Harry Potter opens first. Its a shame to see a ride have this many things go wrong.
King_K. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Actually, I noticed.. If you look closely at this picture, the banner isn't one big piece, it's three separate pieces. Thus the reason I don't think it ripped. It just unclipped from the lift. You can see where the pieces meet on the 1st and 3rd ring.

Yes it was a thunderstorm storm today, but when your park is in a hurricane area, you should be expect wind like that this time of year.
