robbalvey Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 (edited) Jim from www.westcoaster.net has just called me to let me know that they have added trims to California Screamin. There are two sets that he noticed: One right before you take the dip into the loop, and this is the worst park one right before the bunny hills which he says doesn't give as much airtime now. I'm bummed. Anyone else experience this? --Robb "Who hasn't been to DLR since January, and now I'm not sure when I'll go." Alvey Edited October 19, 2005 by robbalvey
verticalzero Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Trim brakes are the worst nightmare for coaster fans who love "airtime". It's a shame they added them onto the California Screamin as i've heard it was a great ride. I guess this is the after effect of the accident. I hope trim brakes are not put on "Balder" or "Hades" or any top 10 coaster.
calcajun Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Why???? After all these years. It was fine just the way it was. It was a really fun coaster. If this is true it may just make it a boring coater now.
Imhotep Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 So, this coaster has been operating for how many years without trims? Why add them now? Is it because of that Cali transportation law (or something of that sort)? Its kinda funny.. Why add more brakes when they have difficulty maintaining the brakes the ride already has?
What Now Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Noooooooooo! I was looking forward to going back and riding it agian. Now I'm not so sure.
CoasterCrazy Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I enjoyed California Screamin a lot when I rode it last winter, why did they have to put trim breaks on a ride that was perfect the way it was?
Corkscrewed Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Rest in peace, my precious bunny hops.
jarmor Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 NOOO...well i haven't experience it anyway but just wanted to join the bandwagon !
Jeezus Juice Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 ::Shakes Fist:: A statististical failure of one brake pressure relief valve and the ride gets neutered. Meanwhile Death Mountain across the way makes do with extra cable ties. Weak.
Gnome Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 WHat???!?!?! I hope the ghost of Walt comes back and kills the idiot who decided to do that one. But hopefully not, also why does this guy say otherwise? http://www.westcoaster.net/community/index.php?showtopic=14513&st=20
Real Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 ::Shakes Fist:: A statististical failure of one brake pressure relief valve and the ride gets neutered. Meanwhile Death Mountain across the way makes do with extra cable ties. Weak. Wow...that comment is so cold...yet so refreshingly funny! LOL

But hopefully not, also why does this guy say otherwise? http://www.westcoaster.net/community/index.php?showtopic=14513&st=20 I have no idea, but until I ride it myself, or I hear from another reputable source, I'd take Jim's word. --Robb
ebl Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Why not a trim after the bunny hops? Such illogic... Eric
calcajun Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Ok, "two sets he noticed". Noticed as in seen or actually felt slow the train? It is possible there are new brakes but they may not be trims. So Robb, did he say they actually slowed the train? Or are you just as unsure as the rest of us. :?
SLUSHIE Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Since he said that there was less airtime... I would assume they slowed it down.
calcajun Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah, I just went and re read it. That sucks big time.
UberBeavis Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 The only redeeming quality of that ride for me WAS the bunny hops...
X Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 STUPID DLR!!!!!!! I was looking forward to riding it in 4 days! Now I'm not so sure. Kevin"THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Bujold
SFMM rocks my socks Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I hope the brakes fail when i ride it
24 Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 That realy sucks . Well, welcome to the real world of Disney.
jarmor Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Since no one has said it yet... TAER ER DOWN !!1!!1!!1!11!!
BelizeIt Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Well it Wouldn't Surprise Me that they Added the Trim-Brakes....Their Paranoid now! You have to Realize that even though those involved in the "Accident" weren't Killed or Seriously Injured, that they will most likely Sue Disney Anyhow. So Disney Now needs to be Overly Cautious by adding these Awful Trim-Brakes! Sadly, Disney needs to protect itself from further Litigation by Adding Additional "Safety" Measures. It's Sad, and Unfortunate, but Disney needs to show that they are looking out for their riders. (Incase another incident happens in the future)
maliboomer Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I hope the brakes fail when i ride it I hope you mean the trims.
